Life Changing Experience

My journey to Neinstein Plastic Surgery began when I came across the practice on IG. I was looking to find the perfect surgeon for a breast augmentation and the stars aligned that Dr. Neinstein and his team showed up in my stories. From the first click, I was in love with everything about NPS. The before and after photos, the education, the love of the team, and the dedication to each and every patient told me there was no other choice. It was then time to tell the husband we were going out of state for surgery. I’m blessed and up to New York we went; we’re on the Eastern Shore of Maryland so we are fortunate that it’s just a little over a 3 hour ride. Walking into Neinstein Plastic Surgery for the first time was a feeling I’ll never forget. It is a red carpet, VIP experience for every patient and family member that get off the elevator on the 12th floor. My consultation was with Dr. Chris Funderburk and my oh my was my life about to be changed. I am a mom of twins, my muscles were moved a little to the side (haha) and had plenty of extra skin and stubborn fat. I said what the hell and decided to learn about my options for a breast augmentation and tummy tuck with muscle repair. Dr. Chris and his nursing team were phenomenal and explained every detail of the proposed mommy makeover plan. My husband and I left the office with my surgery date booked, it was a no brainer after that consultation!

March 13th, 2023- the life changing day had come! We came up to NYC the night before surgery to check into our hotel and I will never be able to put into words the excitement I felt being in NYC, knowing I had the best team in the world about to put my body back together!

When I say put back together, I’m talking about my abs that were separated from my twins, and the stubborn “tissue” that wouldn’t budge. The gym is my happy place and the start to my day. I lift weights 3-4/week, walk, run half marathons and even throw in yoga. But that dedication only gets you so far.

Going to sleep for surgery wasn’t scary, I am a nurse and I believed with every piece of my being I was in the safest surgical environment. I got to go to sleep with music of my choice knowing it was the best day ever.

Waking up after a mommy makeover isn’t glorious. You’re groggy, you’re a little nauseated, you can quickly learn you can’t stand straight, and you have to pee out of a hole in your compression garment. BUT IT’S OK!!! The recovery team is phenomenal. I was having some trouble kicking my nausea and my nurse Rachel stayed into the evening hours ensuring my nausea was relieved before I went to my hotel.

Post-op morning 1 was another exciting day because I saw my body for the first time, I actually saw it on Dr. Chris’ story on IG… I literally couldn’t believe the photo on the right was me! Holy [RS bleep] shit! How is that possible I thought! By 0630, Dr. Chris arrived to my hotel room to visit and asses me. Having a surgeon come to your hotel…. THESE ARE THE DETAILS THAT MATTER!

I was completely prepared for recovery, slow and steady. Every milestone was explained and I traveled back to NY for all of my check-ups. Every visit back to NPS was a true treat. Starting at the 3 month check up, we took our 14 year old daughters up to NYC and let them enjoy the magic of NYC, even took them to the office and they were treated like gold. My husband and I made the decision to be open with the girls about my surgery, they’re mature kids, and help them understand the decision making process that comes with this sort of surgery and no matter your grown up decision you’re gorgeous just how God made you. I had plenty of anxiety worrying about how young teenage girls would respond to seeing their mom change her body because she thinks she’s fat. So that’s where the decision came to just be open, explain and give them a chance to be involved at the appropriate time.

And now, a year later, I am living my freaking best life. I graduated grad school in May, went to my graduation in Florida in July and wore my bikini anywhere I was allowed to be in a bathing suit. I was rejuvenated, the hard work at the gym and the good eating habits were finally all worth it. I’m back at the gym, lifting heavier weights, running faster and wearing ALL the crop tops. I am now in leadership at the hospital and shopping for suits and dresses is FUN! I can wear it all! My self-esteem is elevated and I wake up every day thankful to every single human at Neinstein Plastic Surgery who changed my life.

Dr. Neinstein and team don’t stop at surgery. I’ve started a book club with my leadership team and guess who recommended the first few books, Dr. Neinstein! And to my complete surprise, I came home from work last Friday and found the most stunning orchid on our table….. guess who- Neinstein Plastic Surgery celebrating my surgiversary! All of the tears flowed as I read that note. Truly one-of-a-kind practice!

It’s hard to remember life before NPS, my life has truly been changed by the hands of an amazing surgeon along with the relationships that have been created.
