12 week update
WORTH IT
Had my 12 week check up last week. Everything is healing well. I have not been wearing my binder, or sleeping inclined since week 6 (doc approved).
In the beginning with no binder I would swell. By end of day it was a little uncomfortable; however, not too bad. Doc said wearing Spanx or some type of compression would help (if I feel really swollen, I just put my binder on and sleep with it).
I stared working out. Starting off slow and listening to my body. It’s like starting to workout out after pregnancy, slow and not as strong. Tired easily but it feels good to move and get a sweat.
I am 110% happy with Dr. Macias and his team. He answers all my questions, super reassuring with my concerns, and I LOVE my results.

4 week post op
Quick update. I had a 3 week post op appointment on 12/27. The tape under my boobs and along my stomach incision were taken off. Once all the scabs fall off I can start scar therapy with silicone tape.
I wasn't really scared/anxious of the surgery, or of the healing in the 1st month. What has me anxious is the healing after the 1st month. From the journies I have read on realself, I feel like "spitting stitches" and "holes" in the incision happen after the 4 week PO mark. As kind of a pre-emptive measure I have been using a hyperbaric oxygen therapy(found a great deal on Groupon). The doc said it was un neccsary but it was fine if I wanted to try it.
It has been a week since the pic uploaded and most of the scabs have come off. I have one small scab in the center of my tummy tuck incision that is still healing. I feel like the hyperbaric oxygen therapy helped heal my incision faster. The greatest improvement has been in the swelling. I still swell but not as much. At night the swelling would be so uncomfortable. Since I started the HBOT the swelling at night is minimal! I have done 5 sessions for 60 mins, and in my opinion it was totally worth it.

Thanks for sharing your journey! I have never heard of a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. going to look into it for healing.

1 week post op doc appointment
I am so extremely happy with Dr. Macias and his team. Everyone has been super kind and helpful. Yesterday I had my bellybutton stitches removed. Everything is healing well. While sleeping I unconsciously scratched my underboob scar (smacks hand on face). I immediately woke and thought “oh no, I just opened up my incision”. Fortunately it is fine; however, the nurse said she could tell... you can see the redness from it in pics.
I will now be making mitts for my hands when I sleep... like the ones you give infants so they don’t scratch up their face (joking... although any tips or suggestions so I don’t do this again would be welcome!)
I am a little worried about my bellybutton. I know it’s super early but it will become an innie right?
Innie-how (wink) I hope everyone is healing well and having a good journey!
