In the hospital

WORTH IT$20,560
So i am fairly intelligent, I was well read, and consulted a lot of experts. I did a lot of things right in preparation. I followed all the instructions to the letter. And yet I was still not ready for just how tough the recovery would be.
I could not use my arms, almost at all. So all those things i carefully prepped were entirely out of reach. At least i knew where everything was to point my helpers to. My husband was a saint. He helped me get in and out of bed with no arms or abs. Brought lots of icepacks and made me smoothies.
Anyway, day 8 rolls around and I am stiff and sore but moving around. Drove myself to a quick dentist appointment. And did a short trip to target. No overdoing.
Then the blood clots let loose. Chest pain and shortness of breathe. I rested a little thinking i did not want to overreact. When it didn’t get better and i could distinctly feel the pain in the front and back of my chest, I was pretty sure i had a clot. I called my surgeon, hoping it was simple and normal (because i did not have the leg pain and other symptoms). They told me to go to ER.
The pain got much worse before it got better. Have a clot in each lung, one in my leg, and a partially collapsed lung with the pneumonia/“not pneumonia” you get from part of your lung dies.
I have been in the hospital for two nights and may be here another two. Feeling a lot better. The pain is managed. I am on IV blood thinners, IV antibiotics, and switching over to oral pain meds.
I may be on oxygen for a few months.
I am healing nicely from the MM. I haven’t really had much chance to look at it. Pictures soon.

Been kicked by unicorns

I am still very puffy and bruised. Even my thighs are very puffy. I can’t stand up straight yet but it gets better every day. Had a bit of trouble managing the pain but it is better now.

Maybe it is hard to see in the pics with all the swelling, but that belly is truly gone. The doc said I am going to have beautiful results.

I am so excited.

Day of treatment

Day of - made it through

So, everything went well today. They got me right in and knocked me out almost soon enough. I only scared cried a little. :). Operation took 2 hours longer than they expected but they said that’s pretty common.

Everything hurts. It is pretty awful. How the heck do people get addicted to this!?

I cannot use my arms, almost at all. I have everything i need right now laying on my belly so i can reach it.

Percocet does not work for me. It isn't doing anything. Gonna switch to hydrocodone that we have on hand when it is time for my next dose. Doc’s office said that was ok.

I have very high boobs! They will settle down. Boobs hurt the most because they injected exparel in my six pack(ha!)which will keep it numb for a few days.

Apparently i have menopause because my butt cheeks are having a hot-flash. Sitting on an icepack. Weird! No, did nothing to by cheeks. :)

My gut is really gone! I cannot believe it. When i forget how painful this is, it will be totally worth it. :)

Adding pics now. Feeling a little braver now that it is gone. :). More later

Dr. Park and staff were great!
