Great Plastic Surgeon

I have had an excellent experience with Dr. Yang and his assistant Bonnie. I’m about 4 weeks post op. I’ve had surgery before but after 3 kids and weight loss and weight gain and weight loss again I knew it was time for a tummy tuck. Dr. Yang is very knowledgeable, smart, friendly, and patient. The very first time I went for a consultation was in 2013, and I’ve been back to his office a couple times since on my journey to having a tummy tuck. Every time I came Dr. Yang was kind, respectful, and knowledgeable. I met with 3 surgeons in the DMV area, one in Miami, and one in GA. I decided I did not want to travel for surgery. I have in the past and after a surgery you just want to be home, not in a recovery house or a hotel. Out of all of the surgeons I talked to Dr. Yang had the best bed side manner. He answered every question. He was honest and managed my expectations in a professional and sensitive way. What really stuck out was his knowledge, his attention to detail, and his dedication to safety. I could tell he really cared about giving me the best outcome. I never got the sense that he was pre-judging me or there was any bias. He made me feel comfortable at every step of the process. Before surgery you are prescribed all of your medications, so I was able to pick up the pain meds, and antibiotic before surgery. I was also prescribed a self-administered shot to prevent blood clots. I really appreciated Dr. Yang thinking of this because I have a friend of the family who died recently after a routine surgery when a blood clot got loose. On the day of surgery things went smoothly. I came in excited but a little anxious. I filled out consents and disclosures. I met with the nurse and the anesthesiologist. They took my vitals and weighed me. The anesthesiologist made me feel secure and was friendly and professional. I walked into the operating room and I was able to get on the table myself. I chatted a little with the nurse and the next thing I knew everything was over and I was in the recovery area. After surgery you do not feel great-- But they think of everything. If you’re having a tummy tuck you get a shot of Exparel which numbs your stomach for a few days after the procedure. So you’re not in excruciating pain. I also got a patch they put behind my ear that helped with nausea for three days, so I had no nausea. I had a catheter, which at first gave me pause BUT it turned out to be a great thing. After the surgery all you want to do is rest. I was so happy not to have to get up repeatedly and manage having to pee over and over. Removing the catheter was easy. I am almost 4 weeks P/O and I’m very happy with my tummy tuck. It has surpassed my expectations. My incision is low and straight. All of the loose skin has been removed. My belly button looks great. I had scars on my stomach from getting my appendix out and he was able to remove those scars. I have the stomach of a teenager. I also scar hypertrophicly—that’s just a genetic thing. I usually have raised itchy scars that flatten out over a year or two really wide. I mentioned this to Dr. Yang in our pre-op meetings, and this is by far the best scar I have on my body. It’s too early to judge the full results of the scar but Dr. Yang mentioned something NO OTHER DOCTOR ever did- the role of nutrition on scaring. He mentioned making sure I was taking the proper vitamins so I can heal/scar better. I took his advice and added Vitamin D, Zinc, Magnesium, Calcium, and extra Vitamin C to my routine. Dr. Yang was able to suction a lot of my back fat. I definitely see an improvement. For the first time since 2003 (when I had my first child) I am able to wear a bikini. I have a waist again! I am looking forward to going to the beach in December and wearing my bikini in Miami. My butt has definitely improved in size BUT it has been extremely difficult not to put pressure on my butt at night while sleeping. Having TT and BBL at the same time is NOT a good idea. It’s a real challenge to sleep. When you get a tummy tuck you are told to lay on your back in a recliner position. When you get a BBL you are told to lay on your stomach. When you get both there is basically no position for you to lay in to sleep. They say you can place pillows under your legs (which I did and still do every night) but that is a very difficult position to keep while sleeping. Darn near impossible. So if you lay on your stomach you can mess up your tummy tuck, if you lay on your back you can mess up your BBL. I couldn’t lay on my sides because fat was also injected in my hips. My advice: I would strongly recommend not doing tummy tuck and BBL together. That’s the only thing I regret about this procedure. If I could do it all over, I would break up the procedures so I could be in a position where I can sleep without putting any pressure on my butt. Or I would have done Tummy tuck and breast lift together and came back for BBL later. I would highly recommend Dr. Yang and would encourage you to schedule an appointment with him to find out if he can help you with your situation.
