Contracture Corrected
WORTH IT$17,000
Dr. Basile really is an amazing surgeon and compassionate man. He did a phenomenal job with the explanation and replacement of my implant. I do regret now having gone with textured, but he explained how low of a chance there really is with them. The media does sensationalize the issues there. Now they are perfect, soft, and feel and look natural. So in love with how they came out. Also, and I don’t know how he did this, but I had no swelling after the replacement. And the incisions healed so quickly. I was shocked.

BIG SETBACK
I can’t begin to explain how disappointed I am right now. My right breast has developed a capsular contracture, Baker grade II. As of right now, the PS has me on Singulair, Vitamin E, and Ibuprofen, and no massage. My implants were placed subfascially and are 330cc textured silicone. I feel like I knew this would happen based on that initial strange rash that I got a couple weeks post op; looking back, I should have remained on a prophylactic antibiotic for a year and been on the Singulair right after that rash was noted. It’s really distressing as it hurts when I move and it’s hard as a rock at the top and you can see the rim of the implant. It’s hard not to feel like I’m being punished for having been vain enough to have this kind of surgery and I cried for like a day after they confirmed what it was. My instinct says that I will need a revision surgery to correct it and that’s such rough news. Hope all you ladies are faring better than I am.

I’m so sorry your going through this!
Sucks that you are going through this. Are the meds helping?
Oh hunnie, I'm so sorry this is going on for you. Hang in there. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. You aren't being punished. Sometimes there are speed bumps on our roads but, unfortunately it's apart of the ride. Just hang in there and remember to be gentle on yourself. You definitely aren't being punished. I truly hope it all gets resolved very quickly and goes smoothly for you.
I’m so sorry you are experiencing this :( I’m really surprised any plastic surgeon is even using the textured silicone implants anymore. They were once thought to be safe, but turns out that about 70% of the “Breast Implant Illness” cases are women with the textured implants. It’s causing their bodies to have an inflammatory response and making many women sick over tone. I really hope you get better and don’t have to go through what I’m unfortunately seeing so many women experiencing right now.
So true.

Scar Cover Up
So while I am healing, I went on a quest to find something to cover my scars up and was successful. First there’s Boo Boo Cream which works well and has lots of healing ingredients. Secondly, there’s Dermacol. Dermacol is a game changer and is used by plastic surgeons in hospitals as well as for movie stars and stage makeup. It’s water proof and the finish is so nice. I had to order it 3 times to get close to a skin tone match but I was successful: as a make up enthusiast and semi-pro, I used a little mixed into my regular foundation for my face and the result was runway worthy. So while my husband doesn’t mind the scars, I prefer having them covered and am so happy to have found a good product. Also for scar treatment - I was using the scar away strips but also had a bottle of Biocorneum from the PS office. To help it work better, I put on a thick layer and then covered using tegaderm. You can buy long tegaderm rolls on eBay for $25. The reason scar strips work better then gels is that they stay on and the silicone keeps direct contact with the skin while the gels rub off. Doing it this way keeps a thick layer of gel in constant contact with the scar.
