I had been considering surgery for many years, and after a long period of hesitation, I finally decided to travel from Switzerland to Istanbul to have my procedures with Dr. Sedat Tatar. Looking back, I can honestly say that I could not have made a better decision.
I had a tummy tuck with a significant diastasis repair, a breast lift, and fat grafting to my breasts. Choosing a surgeon was not something I took lightly, especially because I was travelling abroad for surgery. I chose Dr. Sedat because I was impressed by his results and reassured by the importance he places on recovery and pain management. The price was not the reason I chose Turkey, as the cost was actually quite similar to what I would have paid in Switzerland.
Before travelling, I communicated with the team through WhatsApp. They were always available whenever I had questions or concerns, and their quick, clear communication gave me confidence even before I arrived in Istanbul. They also helped organize every aspect of my trip.I was initially booked for June but later changed my surgery date to April, and the team adjusted everything very smoothly without causing me any stress.
I stayed in Istanbul for 10 days before returning home to Switzerland, which gave me enough time to recover and feel more comfortable before travelling.
The quality of care I received after surgery was one of the things that impressed me most. The procedure was performed at Liv Hospital, a JCI-accredited five-star hospital.I stayed in a suite with a separate sofa bed for my husband, and meals for both of us were included in the package.The food was excellent, and the hospital nurses, including those working at night, were kind and helpful.
At one point, I became worried about the colour of my nipple. The nurse immediately contacted Dr. Sedat, and he came to see me personally at around midnight, even though it was late after my surgery. I was so grateful and impressed that I almost cried. He took the time to examine me, answer all my questions, and reassure me until I no longer felt stressed. His calm and caring manner made me feel that I was truly in safe hands.
My surgery began at noon.Dr. Sedat performed my markings beforehand, which was also the first time I met him in person.. He was extremely professional and patiently answered all my questions and concerns. I also felt reassured knowing that he performs only one major surgery per day, as this was very important to me.
When I woke up after surgery, I had pressotherapy boots on my legs and a warm air blanket under the sheets.Thanks to the Exparel injection, which was included in the package, I did not experience significant pain, just tightness and pressure on my chest. I only had a little nausea, but overall, I felt very comfortable and relieved.
The nurses were kind, patient, and genuinely caring. Meltem met me at the airport on my first day and accompanied me to the hospital for my blood tests, pre-operative checks, and consultation with the anaesthetist.
She stayed with me even though it was almost 10 pm. and she had recently undergone dental surgery herself and was not feeling well.She was truly a gem. (Merhaba Meltem, hug little Almira for me);)))
She supported me before surgery and during the first two days of my recovery, and she was absolutely wonderful. After I left the hospital on the third day, Love , Nisilsin Giiz ;)) was the one looking after me at the hotel and checked on me every day. She helped with everything, including checking my vital signs, helping me shower, making sure I was eating and drinking enough, and washing my compression garments. She also did for me the lymphatic drenaje massage (3 were included in the package and I took 5more). They were always patient and never made me feel that I was bothering them, even when I had small questions or concerns .
Because I was travelling abroad, having such caring people around me made a huge difference. I genuinely felt that they cared about my wellbeing and recovery.
The accommodation was also much better than I expected.I stayed at a Mövenpick 5*Hotel. in a separate apartment with one bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen, a washing machine, a coffee machine, and a wonderful breakfast.It felt much more like having my own apartment than staying in a standard hotel. The housekeeping and hotel staff were excellent, and everything was arranged so that I could focus on resting and recovering.
The transportation was another part of the experience that made everything easy.The drivers were always punctual, and the cars were clean and comfortable. I never had to worry about arranging transportation myself.
Before my flight back to Switzerland, the team gave me detailed instructions about travelling after surgery, including the importance of walking during the flight. They also prepared a special document to help me request wheelchair assistance at Istanbul Airport. This made me feel much more secure about the journey home, especially as the flight was approximately four hours.
The follow-up care has continued since I returned to Switzerland. The nurses regularly check on me and follow my recovery through WhatsApp.I really appreciate this because it shows that their care does not end when you leave Istanbul.
As someone who is very particular about medical care, I spent more than a decade researching and searching for the right doctor\. My experience with Dr\. Sedat and his team has been incredibly positive\. From the communication before surgery to the hospital care, recovery, accommodation, transportation, and follow-up at home, everything was handled with great attention and professionalism\.
Most importantly, I am very happy with my results so f?r? Travelling from Switzerland for surgery was a major decision, but with Dr\. Sedat and his team, I always felt that I was in good hands.
