Rode with my sister-in-law from Sarasota to Miami (3 hr one way) this morning for my 10am follow-up. I was seen by Dr. Ortega and his asst nurse who removed the tape on me as well as removed my upper drains. He was pleased with how everything looked so far and scheduled a follow-up with me on Thursday before I head back home to Texas.
Today has been the best day so far. Each day progressively gets better. I have been showering twice per day (my normal routine before even having surgery). I noticed this evening with all the tape removed I was much more comfortable showering and allowing the water to hit my incisions directly. Dr. Ortega explained that it was okay and to continue to wash with baby wash only for now because of how gentle it is. My stomach swelling continues to go down each day. Today is the first day that I’m starting to feel slight itchy spots. I just rub them gently through the binder and it goes away. Definitely need a handled loofah to reach my legs in the shower. My brothers guest bathroom is a standard tub/shower combo so there’s no pace to really prop my leg up or to sit down so that I can reach them in order to wash them. But luckily I thought about that already and had packed one with me.
My incisions look great IMO and the placement of them is great.

4 Days PO

Well I’m all caught up now with my previous posts to match the actual days po.
My husband flew back home to Houston today. My dog has been at the boarding kennel for 8 nights $365 for that. My sister also flew home to San Antonio about 5 hours after my husband left. This morning I took a shower almost 100% without any assistance. The drains were in my way. Definitely get something to hold the drains and it will free up both hands. Before my sister left she took me to Dollar Tree and got me a lanyard. I’ll hook them on that around my neck while I shower tomorrow. Other than that this morning getting out of bed was good and moving around felt good. Tightwad but it loosened up with my activity. I stood in the mirror and took my first post op selfies. I’ll pot them later tonight when I can figure it how to add the edits over my private regions.
My brother lives in Tampa area and came down to pick me up. I’ll be staying with him the following week while I work from home. Didn’t want to rush getting on a plane so soon. On surgery day the nurse told me that Dr.Ortega could possibly take my drains out on Saturday before I leave but another nurse said no 14 days and no sooner so I am getting mixed signals. We shall see why they decide. I do have another followup on Monday to remove the breast drains.
