What the doc had to say...

I had a progress update appointment (about 10 mos. PO) with Dr. Vath last week. He was very sympathetic about all the troubles I have had to deal with, during my recovery, and seemed to be genuinely pleased that those days are finally passed. He was very pleased with the final aesthetics of my breast-work.
Regarding the concerns I have with my breast lift and augmentation (enumerated in my last update), Dr. Vath basically said that my new breasts are what they are and can’t be revised. He said that while they aren’t twins, they are a matching set! He added that nearly everyone has one breast whose nipple points toward the outside of the body (like my left one does) instead of straight ahead (like my right one does).
With regard to the somewhat flat appearance of the left breast’s “cleavage-side curve”, he said that shape is the natural shape of my under-breast crease on that side and that nothing can be done to alter it. He also said that my breast implants are now stable and won’t move or change shape anymore.
I forgot to ask Dr. Vath about the upward-turning crease scar on my right breast, but I figure that it is what it is and can’t be changed now. I’ll ask him about it next time I see him. He said he believes all the scarring on my breasts will eventually fade to the point of being basically invisible.
With regard to my belly button shape and placement, Dr. Vath said that nearly everyone’s BB is somewhat off-center so nothing will be done about that concern either.
I have revised my opinion regarding “dog ears” at the ends of my TT scar. What I’m actually seeing is simply fatty areas above my scar that will go away when I lose more weight. Dr. Vath said that in order to eliminate those bumps surgically he would have to extend my scars even further around my back, to which I said, “No Thanks!”
So, the current plan is to revise only my TT scar, which he says will produce a cleaner, more even scar, removing the bumpy/lumpy, pulled-in spots, by eliminating the areas that didn’t heal properly the first time around, and removing a bit more fat above the incision. I’m planning to give myself another few months before getting the revision surgery to insure that my body has had adequate time to complete the original healing process, making sure the blood supply to that ab incision area is fully restored. Dr. Vath says optimum time to do the revision is between 3 and 6 months after the incision holes finally healed, which was around mid-October (8 mos. PO) for me. So, I figure I should be good to have the revision by mid-March 2018, which will give me adequate time to heal before my planned trip to Hawaii (to visit my son and daughter-in-law) in May.
Dr. Vath says this revision surgery will be nothing like the original, lasting about 45 minutes (as opposed to the original 7+ hours), and with healing time being only 2 weeks! He readily agreed to my request to be “put-under” instead of the normal “awake-state” revision surgery (a mental anxiety-block for me!), with all incurred costs absorbed by his practice. (Since I paid a premium original price, I figure any potential post-op needs were already factored in). I will forego the pre-anesthesia administration of Versed this time as it prolongs the time required for me to “come-to” post-surgery. I have some trouble with that issue and also with extended very low oxygen saturation levels post-surgically. (A previous unrelated surgical experience was carried out without the use of Versed and I came through recovery much quicker!)
I’m returning to my daily exercise and clean-eating mode in order to be as healthy as possible for this upcoming surgery. It will also enable me to lose the weight I regained during my long, physically and emotionally agonizing, post-Mommy Makeover surgery recovery. During that time I will pay particular attention to eating in such a way to keep my microbiom’s tendency toward fungal organism over-growth under control, paying particular attention to my pre-biotic and pro-biotic intake (doubling up on it presurgically for a couple weeks).
So, until then, I wish you all great PS outcomes and amazing recoveries. I will return post-revision surgery with updated information and photos!

10 months P.O. Mommy (Gramma) MakeOver

Here I am, a very long 10 months later... I haven’t posted much because I’ve felt like I was in a constant healing battle. When I am completely finished, and have received my final results, I will post a complete photo diary of my procedure and long difficult recovery.
I have an appointment to see my P.S. tomorrow and would really like to have my RS sisters HONEST comments on my current result photos before I see him - just for myself as comparisons with my own ideas. Please don’t comment with the intent of just making me feel okay about my body - I really don’t need that - I am, if nothing else, a realist! I battled a fungal infection, along the front of my TT incision, and on my right breast vertical incision and areola incision, for 9 months! As a result of my own research, I finally discovered that large doses of high potency probiotics, ingested liquid colloidal silver, and colloidal silver/emu oil ointment (Emuaid) finally resolved the fungus, allowing the holes along my TT incision to heal closed.
The issues I see on myself are: 1) My left breast (my previous “little one” with very limited skin between the areola and crease) is somewhat mis-shapen compared to my right breast which is sweetly round with nipple pointing straight ahead. It appears that my left breast is “sliding” toward the outside of my body and the nipple is pointing outward. 2) The crease scar on my right breast turns upward on the outer end extending up beyond the crease (this breast received the smaller implant of the two). 3) My Belly Button is pulling off-center. 4) I have dog-ears on both ends of my TT scar with the left side being worse than the right. 5) The TT scar is wide and purple on my right side. 6) The areas that resisted healing and remained open for so long along my TT scar have left an unsightly mess IMO.
So, what do you all think - I truly covet your straight-forward, honest opinions, thoughts, and ideas. Thanks for being my Real Self friends! (I hope the photos load right side up because as I see them here they are not!)
