Modified Mini Tummy Tuck W/muscle Repair
UPDATED FROM A.Everson

8 weeks post-op and results just keep getting better!
WORTH IT$6,300
I had a follow up appointment last week and was given the green light to both workout as I’d like, AND decide for myself whether or not to keep wearing the compression garment. It’s really been such a mood booster for me. I’m working back into it all trying to be careful, but getting back into hiit and strength training is just sooo nice. And I’ll be honest, I’m not wearing compression gear during the day anymore, but always at night still. It just feels so good to not have all the extra layering going on. I will say though, I’ve included a pic of one of my favorite purchases with this whole ordeal; it’s a compression tank top. I wear it every night under my compression wrap that was given to me after surgery, or just during the day on it’s one, as it actually gives a decent amount of compression on its own, and it’s really quite comfortable. I HIGHLY suggest purchasing yourself one or a couple, if you’re having a tummy tuck done. It’s soft and just protects your skin from rubbing against the compression wrap. I ordered mine on Amazon, and loved it so much, I bought another.
My scars are healing pretty well too. It’s hard being patient with that part though, as it’s smack in the middle of my tummy. My doctor also said at my appointment last week that I still have swelling in my abdomen in the space right around my belly button and between my obliques, which I was glad to hear is swelling and should continue to improve, as I just thought that was how it was gonna be. It makes me excited to see how things continue to improve. I’ll update again in 2-4 months!

Modified Mini Tummy Tuck W/muscle Repair
At 4 weeks post-op now, I figured I’d start documenting my surgery and showing my recovery so far. First off, let me say, I totally underestimated the amount of pain involved in a mini tummy tuck. I think a majority of it is due to the muscle repair, so if you’re getting one without it, maybe it wouldn’t be as painful. He actually did what he called a “modified” mini tummy tuck, to get a little more muscle repair done right around the belly button and tighten the skin more. Because of this I have both an incision low on my abdomen and just under my belly button and around it. The lower incision is healing great; nice and thin so far. I hope the incision under my belly button starts healing more flat here soon. I feel like it’s not laying very flat, and that part has me a bit worried. Overall though, I feel like I’m healing very well. I just can’t wait until I can get back to working out like I like, and start sculpting my midsection even more. The only thing that I would say is a con, is that I kinda feel like my aftercare is not quite as involved as I would like. After my surgery I wasn’t seen again until 2 weeks post-op and my next appointment isn’t until 6 weeks post-op. I would just feel a little more at ease if I could see the dr more often to get reassurance that a couple of my concerns are ok.

Is it fully healed? Does he have more pictures in his off of these modified mini ticks?

Not fully healed, but doing much better. I’m not cleared for full exercise for another 2-4 weeks. If you click on his name and look up mini tummy tuck, I’m pretty sure there’s at least one other modified mini one posted there, here on Real Self.

Did you get a pain pump? Were you able to get out bed alone to walk around? I can’t imagine pain, like crying, can’t walk pain?

I did not get a pain pump, and no, for the first couple days I needed help getting out of bed before I figured out to ROLL to my side then pushing up with my top arm to a sitting position before standing up. Getting out of bed, sneezing, coughing and laughing caused the most pain after those initial first post-op days.

I wonder how much more a pain pump would help. I’ve heard most doctors are providing them now. Despite all of your pain during recovery do you think it was worth it overall? I am approximately your size by looking at your picture, but my doctor is suggesting a full. Do you know why yours did not? I’m so afraid of wound infections or separation of the stitches more than anything

I do think it was worth it, especially because my lower abs really needed some repair after multiple pregnancies. My doctor did offer both a full and a modified mini, but I chose the mini because I wanted a smaller scar, and shorter recovery time. My upper abs were actually in pretty good condition so I didn’t think the full was necessary. I had no issues at all with incisions healing without infection, but that was a concern of mine too.

I am so glad you healed well. I am so sad for the things some people go through and hope my Doctor is skilled as advertised. I too am getting the muscle repair. So you think it’s logical for 10 days to be enough to get dressed for a desk job or no way

I know what you mean. I would cringe at some of the photos I saw of infected incisions and not great results. It doesn’t hurt to do more than one consult too, to make sure you feel really comfortable with the Dr you choose. Yes, I would say if you have a desk job, 10 days should be good. You’ll still have pain with coughing or sneezing, but just being able to function with day to day things should be fine.

Do you think it’s just luck as far as not having complications or did you do anything special to stay clean and heal? I keep thinking If I keep loosing weight. Is there a chance I won’t even need this? If I tighten up and have little skin left?

Im an open book, so feel free to ask any questions you have.
Would you mind sharing how your PS determined the need for muscle repair? Did your doc do the little test where you do a half sit up and then they stick their fingers in between your ab muscles? Also, how long was it before you were allowed to drive and felt you could? Thanks!
