I have hated my droopy chin and neck for years. I was in the store one day and passed by a mirror and scared myself! Holy crap! What happened?! I have been wanting to get this done for a long time. I'm 66 so I'm going to treat myself. I think I deserve it. Also I'm in the beauty business, I'm a hairdresser, so I'm in front of the mirror with clients all day. And my husband is 4 years younger so I hate looking older than him. So three good reasons.

So I called Dr. Staahl for a consultation. Everyone in the office is very nice and he is nice too. I told him all of my concerns. So I did it! Scheduled surgery right then and there. My pre-op appointment is Oct 2 and surgery is Oct 16. I'm excited!

Did you only get your lower face done? You look so much younger. I had my mini facelift and neck done 8 days ago. I wonder if I will see as dramatic a difference as you have had. You look so much younger that it looks like you had everything done. Beautiful!

Yes, only lower face. May do upper eye lids some day though. I'm so happy with my decision to do this.

Pre Op appointment done!

I went for my pre Op appointment and paid for my surgery, got instructions. No asprin, no ibuprophen, etc. They gave me Arnica to help prevent bruising and Flurazapam for anxiety the night before and morning of the surgery. I'm starting to get nervous. Excited but nervous. We got a hotel for the day of surgery because we have to be back the next morning for a check up and we live around 50 miles away. There's nothing worse than getting bounced around in the car right after surgery! I made that mistake before.

Dr. Staahl is all business, just gets to the point. The nurse briefed me for about 30 minutes then the doc saw me. He examined my face and we discussed what was going to happen. He is going to tighten the muscles in my chin/neck area and maybe face too. That's gonna hurt! It will be worth it in the end. I'm scared lol!
Ten days to go!

Here's more pre op pics.

Best wishes on your upcoming surgery! I myself am 1 week out of Face/Neck lift and Mini Brow lift. First couple of days was a little rough for me with pain, swelling, lots of bruising and I slept a lot, but by day 4 felt somewhat better and able to get around the house for light cooking and washing clothes. By day 5 and 6, I was walking a couple of blocks around the neighborhood. Hope all turn out as you plan!

GoldenMimi that's good to know. I know the recovery is rough the first couple days. I plan on staying on the couch or in bed. Not looking forward to that part! Looking forward to day 4!

Nancy925 - Today is day 10 for me and I walked my neighborhood for 45 minutes (very casual and slow, not cardio type walking) and it felt great to be out!
This time is a redo for me, 11 months ago was my first FL/NL and that doctor did a horrible job, everything ended up falling within 2nd month....It was horrible, doctor refused to acknowledge the failure, so I ended up having to find a new doctor for a complete redo. Praying I made the right choice this time around. Again good luck and keep updating!

My doc gave me pills to calm me down the night before and morning of the surgery. Seems to have helped.

I look forward to those pills! I’m scheduled on Thursday, still time to back out. Hope you’re doing ok.

Thanks. I got apprehensive at the last minute too. I think that's why the give you pills to relax the thight before and morning of the surgery.

It's done and the worst is behind you. Just think how beautiful you are going to look . I know how you feel right now, you probably wished you hadn't done it but soon you will start enjoying your new face and all that pain and suffering ..? you won't remember any of it. Wishing you speedy recovery !

I'm 4 1/2 weeks post surgery, and have had my swelling reduce significantly by seeing a cranial osteopath, (note must be cranial - no crunching, you shouldn't feel anything but a light touch). I expect by my third visit next week to have 100% swelling gone.

Also I had almost no bruising, (blef, lower & neck) but my diet eliminated all processed foods, sugar, coffee etc. I ate steamed vegetables, salmon and eggs. After week 3 i added soaked cashews and pumpkin seeds (put in blender with a little water, stevia and vanilla essence - essential to help you sleep), & organic blueberries.
good luck!

Getting worried as I’m first day post op and have not experienced any pain, hoping I have good results (no pain no gain). Dr. Koelliker is fantastic I might add and staying in the hospital post op is ideal.
