Tattoo Gone

$2,400
It's been forever since I updated. I don't know how many treatments I had - if I had to guess I would say... 7 - 10? Anyway - here are pics of where the tatt was. You can still see some whitening of the skin from the flash, but in normal light - unless you are looking for it - it can't be seen.

Thank you for sharing your story! This gives me some hope. Like you, I got a memorial tattoo on my forearm in memory of a close family who passed away. I also felt so anxious and depressed after getting it and knew I had to start doing something about it. I have had 2 Enlighten treatments on part of my tattoo (a dense black hawk about 1 inch by 1 inch). definitely seeing fading but it sure is slow. I have 2 other hawks about the same size that I also hope to start removal at some point, probably after summer . I wanted so badly to love this tattoo as it has a lot of meaning to me... but just get so depressed and anxious when I see it. Realized too late that my forearm was not a good place for me to get a tattoo. You’re results are great and I hope you have found peace through the whole process !
Enlighten does really great with black ink. Does your office have the patch? I used the patch a few times the last couple times and it did work well. Don’t beat yourself up - you had all the right intentions and no way of knowing the outcome wouldn’t be what you expected. That was the number one thing I had to overcome - the anger I felt at myself. Best of luck!
Thank you! I’m not sure about a patch, I will ask next time I go which is July 8th. Does that help with better clearance? Also wondering how long you waited between each of your treatments ?
It allows them to make more passes over the ink in the same sitting. I waited three to four months between.

Changed Offices - New Laser

I decided to change offices. The reason why is because I was driving 2.5 hours away and there is a place 20 min away that has a Pico laser, too. (Enlighten). I had my second treatment today. Not pleasant but not as bad as everyone make it seem! Hoping for some major fading as I had very little fading from the Picosure.

How are your treatments coming along?
Pretty well - I have my 4th appointment coming up next week. I saw pretty significant fading after the 2nd (after switching to Enlighten (similar to Picoway)). I didn't see any fading with the one Picosure treatment.
About to make the decision between PicoSure and Enlighten...although I feel like I'm leaning towards enlighten. I have two tattoos, all black, similar in size to yours, and on my arms that I want completely removed. Which one would you suggest, and do you have any estimate in cost? Also, have your tattoos completely disappeared now?

Thank you so much for any response,
I can't seem to find anything substantial out there.
If I had my druthers, I would find a place that had both. Sometimes mixing it up works better. For me, the Englighten has worked better than the Picosure. However, I only had one session with the Picosure.

I pay 200 per session, but I got in a special they were having to promote the procedure. Without the special I believe it would be 300. My tattoo has not disappeared. There are parts of it that are almost completely gone, but there are also parts that are still quite dense and dark.

Best of luck in your journey!
Any updates?
Actually, my tattoo is pretty much gone. It is light enough that I ceased having treatments. I think with maybe two more it would be completely gone but it is good enough for me! The Enlighten laser worked very well.
Thanks for keeping us updated! This gives me hope.

My story mimics most of those on this site. I had two tattoos - love them both - none of them had much significant meaning. My dad passed away in 2009 and I was given a stamp of his signature. I thought long and hard what to do with it to commemorate him and I decided on a tattoo on my forearm. After a few days, I started to feel weird about the tattoo. I spiraled into grief and depression. I had to seek therapy and go on anti-depressants. Ultimately I decided to start the long road of removal. The tattoo is all black - 4 1/2 inches long by 1 inch high. I am hesitant to include pics because it could reveal my identity. Maybe parts of it though. I went to four consultations and had to decide between two... I ultimately decided on the Picosure laser over the Enlighten and I'm not sure that was the right choice yet, but that remains to be seen. I will say, and this is part of the reason that I decided to even write this review - for those of you that are scared of the pain... it is NOT as bad as I expected after hearing descriptions on this site. I expected my arm to FALL OFF in pain and for the next three weeks to be completely unbearable. I did the entire thing, without a break, without using the chill blaster. Maybe it was a fluke and when they turn up the juice I will eat my words... but I expected so, so much worse. I also have had minimal after effects. No pain, no burning... if I didn't have a bandage on my arm, I wouldn't even remember I did anything to it. My doctor advised me to keep it covered for a week with aquafor and a sterile bandage so that is what I'm doing. I'm four days post treatment one. No change in actual tatt though... that's it for now. Thanks to everyone I have been following and all the support on this site!

Welcome to the community, thanks for documenting your journey here. Sorry for the loss of your father, it's such a difficult time in one's life. did you get the tattoo recently or in 2009? Glad that you're not finding the laser treatment painful, would you mind sharing your thoughts about the pain in the following discussion: Laser Tattoo Removal: Is it Painful? I look forward to your updates, keep us posted and if you decide to share photos that would be wonderful. Take care. :)
