July 17th had a lift and 325 cc augmentation with Dr. Lista. Amazing experience, everything looked exceptional, healed fast with virtually no pain, incredibly natural looking, nipple scars looked unreal - 100% satisfied.
Over a month after surgery, however, I took a fall (complete bad luck, just a misfortunate situation) and split my incision (under the breast in the crease, not the nipples) wide open. I had emergency surgery in Ottawa that evening with a Dr. Chittee, but instead of taking the implant out and cleaning it like I later realized he should have, he simply irrigated the incision site and stitched it back up.
5 days later I had a post op with Dr. Lista. To my utter and horrific dismay, he informs me the slight liquid I have oozing out of my breast (although completely painless) is a huge problem and tries desperately to get me into surgery right away.
Complete mess as I was, I agreed and I was in surgery soon after having my current implant taken out, the breast cavity cleaned and irrigated, and a new one put in place. The new implant, I was told, wasn't exactly the same shape as the old one but the same cc's and Lista told me it was more crucial to have the procedure done asap, rather than wait to order an exact sized implant. I was reassured it would look the same, and he was right - it's only been a few days but this implant doesn't look any different than the last aside from the swelling.
I am now on IV antibiotics for 2 weeks, nurse visits me everyday, drainage pump for a few days, and next post op is tomorrow (4 days following repair). Although this is has been a horrific experience for me (and something that I can't help regret), I am incredibly grateful I have the support and immediate action by Dr. Frank Lista and his staff - I still may loose this implant and be back at square one, but if that happens I absolutely know Lista and his team did everything perfect on their end and did absolutely everything possible to fix my mistake and end with a desired result. Fingers crossed the implant is fine and I get to keep it - updates to come.
And as a side note to my star rating: WAIT TIMES. I notice everyone on here seems to complain about the wait times for Lista's office. Yeah you're going to wait. Probably for scheduled appointments and for consultations and for a surgery date - this is because there's such a demand for the services from this team (I personally found it reassuring theres such a demand and so many people are trying to get in.).. don't be discouraged - in the end, it is absolutely worth it.
