Beautiful! I'm in the process of having double Jaw surgery to move my bottom teeth back and tilt my top teeth etc... I too have insurance that's going to cover it all. Yay! There are moments when I'm not sure I want to do it. How much extra work did they do before you went in for the actual surgery? Did they take X-rays? Anything to see the nerve placement in your mouth before hand? Did they have a 3-D image that would show you what you're outcome should look like? All I've had done is some molds taken. I go in Monday to see what the total plan is. I have a bit of a longer face due to having a longer lower jaw line but high cheek bones. Did your face shorten at all? I'll go back and reread some of this. Thank you for sharing! The bad results have me second guessing this whole thing.

Hello elode, sorry I missed your post and thats great it will be so worth it I promise! Just as long as your in the right hands you will be fine! I had to have braces before hand, I had them on for one year before I got surgery, your teeth have to be aligned a certain way before the surgeon can do his job, with that said, that includes: Braces, x-rays, molds, everything..not sure about nerve placement because my Doctor is highly qualified and am sure he already knew where there at, as most anatomy is the same in people..no 3-D because all people look different and my doctor didn't want me to have some certain expectation..how did you plan go? I feel like my face relatively stood the same maybe slight change in jaw and nose..but very slight..lol..only I can probably tell.. and yess please read if you have time..I wanted to make sure I shared a positive story! <3 <3

Well it looks like your surgery went great. Love the smile. If you dont mind me asking, did your insurance cover your braces as part of the procedure or was it seperate? And if seperate, how much did it cost to get done? I started my process for surgery today and trying to get insurance to cover as much as possible. My ortho told me $11k for braces. Sounds a bit expensive and my teeth arent crooked or anything major. Thank for the help.

Thank you @Byrant... ;) My insurance did not cover my braces that was a separate cost of around $5700. 11K? for braces.. I may suggest you get another opinion that is a bit much just for braces? I had a open bite and all and braces was 5700, surgery around 12K covered by insurance..Hope this helps! btw where you from?

My ortho is near Dallas, Tx. He was very good with taking time to explain everything. I had 2 appointments that included xrays and everything that he didnt charge for. But i guess its thrown in with the cost of braces.

Absolutely gorgeous! Has your range of motion come back completely? I'm a year post op and still struggling to get more than 2 fingers. However, I was completely banded shut for 8 weeks, so I'd assume my recovery will be a bit slower.
That's awesome! I always heal slowly, so my surgeon and I aren't too concerned about it yet. She has me stretching with tongue depressors now (rather than just my fingers) hoping that will speed up the process :)
