I'm a mess after 3 revisions with ear cartilage. I need a rebuild with rib to project and lengthen and basically redo everything about my nose as much as that is possible. I'm going to a great surgeon who happens to not like this site so I'm not putting him on blast til I'm done. I'm here to motivate myself to stretch my nose every day 40 times to get the skin laxity I need for surgery. I'm also here to see what's up with other patients and help anybody I can help with my bad experiences. I am also here to be sad about my nose and all the noses that have been ruined by irresponsible doctors. I believe the doctor I've chosen to redo my nose with rib is the best there is. I see his work and I want that outcome so badly, but I'm keeping my hopes at sea level because I'm mostly scar tissue at this point and I have thin skin.

Good luck! Not long to wait now. How did your surgeon tell you to stretch your skin? Do you do it dry or with some knd of cream/lotion?
Thank you! I actually just moved my surgery date to May bc I need to stretch more. I do the stretched dry, over clean skin or sunblock, but I have to wear a little bit of makeup to work and I have to do the stretches every 15 minutes all throughout the day so I tried Estée Lauder Double Wear oil free and I just put it on super light except for my nose and then it's not so noticeable that my nose is bare.
So you just grab it different ways and pull down or out basically. There are several ways to do it.
1. Pinch your nose like you are about to jump in water, then pull down and out
2. Pinch the nose from the top and move the skin down ( like a close pin and push the skin down in a sliding motion)
3. Grab the collumella and pull down
4. Grab the collumella with one hand and close pin the nostrils only with the other hand and push/pull everything downward.

And then all of these can be done with outward pulling instead of downward too.

He said to hold for 10 seconds and then repeat every 15 minutes or once it looks like it's not irritated anymore. If the nose gets inflamed then it's counterproductive.
This is ridiculous one cockamamie dr told me to do this and I ended up with an infection . This doesn't work unless you wear an expander 24/7 like in a breast reconstruction. Or after surgery a nostril cone can prevent skin from contracting .
It's before surgery, and it has already worked actually. My skin was tight and contracted around the nose but now I have much more skin laxity.
It's actually not ridiculous. I was given the same skin stretching exercise and it worked for me as well. I was consistent and had 6 months to stretch my skin before the surgery. I noticed a huge difference.
What do you need done? What was wrong with the other 3 surgeries?
@allthewayup. What did you have done?? Revision?
How many months is necessary to do this to be prepared for surgery? It sounds like I'll be going through a similar type of surgery as you, so I would like to try the stretching, but I only have four months before surgery is scheduled. You think that is enough to make a difference?
I hope your surgery goes well :) I'm considering him as well but I'll have to save up quite a bit :(
Has stretching your nose helped? What does stretching mean?
please keep me posted on your surgery. i hope to have surgery with him for length and projection in Janiary. this has been the worse 8 weeks of my life
