I will be receiving my fourth pixel treatment tomorrow (in a series of 4 treatments over a 4 month period). I have acne scarring on my cheeks and temples from about 15 years ago as well as sun damage from years of lifeguarding. My overall skin appearance has greatly improved from pixel! The scars have lightened (although they aren't completely gone yet), my pores have become smaller in size, and my skin texture is fresh and smooth. I was told the results will be maximized up to 4 months after my final treatment.
The treatments are quick (about 10 minutes for half of my face), but do require a few days of recovery with discomfort and peeling. Popping an extra strenghth Tylenol and applying numbing cream prior to the treatment makes the laser more tolerable. Pain is 5 out of 10. I scheduled my appointments for Friday at 12 and have taken the following Monday off to be most comfortable attending work by Tuesday. By the next Friday, although my skin is a pinkish tone, the old skin has all sluffed off by that point and the new skin is looking smooth and great. As a bonus, I also asked my derm to remove a sun spot on my upper cheek last visit which is totally gone today!
My advice would be to have a consultation with a recommended dermotologist to understand what to expect both during the procedure, in recovery and what should expect in the long run. I haven't had any surprises throughout the course of this process which is great and a testament to my fantastic dermotologist.
