Week 3
Week 3 and 4 days!
My right side is still a little more tender than the left & reduced range of motion. With that being said I have noticed improvements in the past week especially. Scars are heeling well. I need to pick up some vitamin E oil.
The nipple sensation is getting better (or I'm just getting used to it!).
I am still only wearing wireless bras. Some days it feels much better to take it off at the end of the day. The skin on the side boob is sensitive.
I am itching to start working out, it has been so nice out and I would like to go running but I'm being good and waiting for the a-okay from my Dr. It's not worth the risk of injury.
I was however in a situation yesterday when I was asked to grab a cooler (I was out boating) and I had to come up with a way to avoid lifting it. I have not told anyone but my mom & husband. Luckily my husband was close by and jumped in to get the cooler.
I have started to sleep on my side a little, it all seems okay except for my eye scars (little irritating).
It seems like I still have a little fluid n my left breast. When I press on it (as if I was giving myself cleavage) I can feel and hear it. I know it takes time to fully heal, I'm not worried.
I'll post some updated pictures.

Day of surgery (April 27 and 18 days following...)
I am playing "catch up" in sharing my experience. I also entered a review for the eye lid surgery so I will try to keep this focused on the BA.
Day of Surgery: (18 days ago)
Surgery date was about 4 weeks after scheduling. This gave me enough time to decide if I wanted to do all three procedures or only the BA (chose all 3). I arrived at the surgery center by 7:00am, surgery at 8:00am. Prepped for surgery, chatted with my DR, confirmed breast size, DR shaved a thin line on my scalp (ear to ear for the forehead lift) then walked to the operating room, climbed onto the table, the nurses covered me with a super warm blanket and out I went. Surgery took about 4 hours.
I don't remember much when I woke, I was very tired and I had very low blood pressure which caused me to faint when I tried to move from the bed to the wheelchair. I remember walking to the elevator and knowing I was going to faint. Being super tired I slept the entire car ride home. My forehead was numb and bottom of breasts, band aids over the nipples to prevent infection and sterile strips over the dissolvable stitches. Head fully wrapped. Tightness in the chest similar to a very intense chest workout. I drank water, ate apple sauce and tried to eat crackers took and took a nap. Husband woke me up every 3-4 hours to take my meds. (I was taking a muscle relaxer, Hydrocodone or Tylenol for pain, anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, and anti-nausea which I requested, just in case). I would say about a 4-5 on the pain scale. once I lay down the pain would reduce. I think I had about 40 staples in my scalp running from ear to ear. This was uncomfortable sleeping if my head turned to the side (putting pressure on the staples). I had a drain in my head overnight to decrease swelling/bruising, a band across my upper chest to help the implants lower, and my eyes were swollen and crusty from the stitches making my vision a little blurry. I needed a little help sitting up in bed (strong abs helped!!). My Dr recommend putting pillows under the mattress to elevate my head, this made for a much more comfortable night's sleep rather than sleeping on 4+ pillows. I also used a pillows a bolster under my knees (like when you get a massage).
Day1:
I had to return to the Dr office to have the drain removed at 10:00a. This was nice to have a follow up so soon so we could ask questions. I was still fighting the low blood pressure so I had to take things very slowly and was not able to stand for very long. I had gotten sick once the night prior when I chose to skip the anti nausea med. I took my meds and immediately vomited. After drinking some water I immediately took the anti nausea med and I was fine (it dissolves under your tonge). I reduced to only a ½ dose, stopped taking it by the end of day 1.
The removal of the drain hurt but it was quick. Dr. Tholen showed me how to do some implant movements to keep the pockets from heeling too tight, I was instructed to do this 4-6 times a day. I also was instructed to only wear the band at night and no bras or anything during the day. I was to keep the bandaids over my nipples until day 4 (?) and the tape over the stitches for about a week.
I spent the rest of the day/night with a cycle of sleeping for 3 hours, waking to pee, take meds, stand and move/walk (it was more of a shuffle) & eat.
Pain was still tolerable 4-5. It was more pressure/stiffness and tensions headaches. Much more pain in my right then left. Actually writing this 17 days later it's hard to remember!
Day2
Another morning trip to the Dr. Office to have the head bandages removed and my hair washed. This was a little uncomfortable because we hit the end of morning rush hour. Had a long wait at the Dr. office (waiting for Dr to finish surgery), Visited with the DR answered questions, then removed the head bandage and everything was looking good. I had one concern regarding a tender spot on my right (smaller) breast. Seems to be where the muscle is attached to my sternum. Dr. was not concerned and no signs of bruises. Pressing the implant up under the muscle (as instructed) seemed to release the pain by helping stretch the pec muscle. Had a nurse wash my hair which hurt a little but felt good to have it clean. Still felt very tired and out of it due to the meds.
Day3:
Starting to feel a little better. Moving around on my own. Head staples are tender in spots, still numb forehead, face is pretty swollen breasts are too.
Since my “job” is to allow my body all of its energy to heal I fully utilized my husbands 5 full days of taking care of me. He cooked super healthy meals of veggies and protein, low sugar, low sodium and lots of water (I think the meds made me thirsty). For the first 4-5 days I was having pain in my temple from chewing ( sore jaw muscles from the head sutures and tighness). I think I was noticing much more of the pain & discomfort associated with the BA. Took a shower today, used a handheld shower sprayer which made it easier. Able to take the band aids off of my nipples on day 4 or 5 (I think).
Day5:
Husband is back to work. I'm able to set my alarm and administer my own meds. Done with the anti-inflammatory & anti-biotic, reduced pain killers & muscle relaxer to ½ a pill per dose. Concerned about the tender spot on my right breast so I emailed my Dr (he's on vacation) with his very quick response reassuring me it's normal I continue with breast displacement exercises. My face looks strange with the swelling. My forehead is bigger. Very minimal bruising, slight yellow under eyes. No bruising on chest. A read line appeared on my right upper lid (like eyeliner). Just my body's way of healing. Eye sutures are crusty which is hard to resist picking, waiting for stitches to dissolve. Applying an ointment helps. Icing my head and chest helps with the discomfort.
Day 6:
Ventured out today to get a refill on muscle relaxers and to notarize a document. Husband was sweet to get the doors for me. Super sensitive nipples. I put little band aids on to ease the discomfort. Later found out I was not supported to do this without pinching the nipples throughout the day to help the nerves regenerate property, it was easier to take the bandaids off and deal with the sensitivity.
Day 7:
Tried to work in the computer knowing I have to work from home for the next two days. Not very successful. Mousing and typing seemed to hurt my right boob. Tension headache and aggravated back pain. From the tightness and sleeping on my back my upper back is in pain. I have been sleeping elevated (30% incline) trying to get the swelling down. I have to sleep with my head straight too. Using a rolled up hand towel around my neck helps. Every day is better than the last.
Day9:
Another Dr. Visit this morning. I have to drive myself, first time driving since surgery. I'm a little nervous in part because of movement restrictions and not wanting to be on meds while driving. Took two extra strength Tylenol on my way to get the staples removed. The nurse, Tracy, was great in answering all of my questions. She removed the staples- painless! Forehead is still numb. Breasts are doing great (other than the tender spot on the right). Super sensitive nipples. The sensitivity is due to the nerves regrowing. Finally feeling a little more energy today. Went to the grocery store too.
Work was much better yesterday and today (day 9). It felt good to focus on something else. I took lots of breaks. Including a 3hr nap.
Day 12:
Back to the office. I emailed my DR yesterday to confirm that my boobs have dropped and I can start wearing non-underwire bras. I found a couple on clearance at Kohl’s ($10/each)! I fit nicely into a 34C which is exactly what I wanted!! I'm not certain this will be my true size.. Knowing they will still change I didn't go to crazy bra shopping. It was a little uncomfortable getting them on/off in the fitting room. My range of motion is much better on my left than right (i'm right handed).
Work was tough, sitting at a desk all day. Tired and lots of right boob pain. It seems to hurt when I use the pec muscle at all.. including writing! Thankfully this was short lived. The following days it was much better. I also chose to not take any meds except Tylenol while at work.
Day:16
Still can see my scars on my lower eye lids. I've worn my glasses all week to try and hide it.
Pain is very manageable, sometimes I am pain free or it's a level 1. Head is tender along the scar.
Boobs have some discomfort mostly along the side (side boob) more so with the larger implant. My left seems to be bigger currently than the right. I wonder if I'm still swollen on the left. There seems to be a fluid sound when I do the placement exercise. It's still early.
I have yet attempted to sleep on my side. I have to sleep elevated for three weeks (3 more days). Luckily I am usually a back sleeper.
I am happy with my boobs, I think they fit my body well. I won't have any clothing issues and I should easily maintain my fitness goals. Scars are fading. I am sometimes surprised how small they can look in clothing! I wore the 2cup padded bra's prior to surgery so it's very hard to tell I had anything done. So far I am glad I had the procedures!

Stats:
32a pre-op
29” under breast
Implant: 290(R), 320(L) Final size? 32C?
Round, smooth, Allergan Natrelle Inspira silicone
Wish size: “C” cup
Total cost for 3 procedures $13,203
I, like many of you, never developed much for breasts, A cup. I enjoy working out and eating healthy so I am lean but muscular (I lift weights). I always knew I would get breast augmentation. In my 20’s I told myself “after I have kids” but that does not look like it will happen.
After researching plastic surgeons I met with Dr. Tholen at Minneapolis Plastic Surgery and knew he was the Dr. for me. About the same time as my consultation we put our house on the market to sell which sold within days! This took priority, a year later I revisited Dr. Tholen, still had the same confidence that he was the surgeon for me. I spent the year obsessed with RealSelf. I decided at my second consultation to ask about blepharoplasty for both my lower and upper (hooded) eyes. He recommended lower blepharoplasty and to my surprise a forehead lift. I thought it over, booked the surgery, after three days of consideration I confirmed to do all three.

I highly recommend Dr. Tholen with Minneapolis Plastic Surgery! From the first consultation I knew he was the surgeon for me. Dr. Tholen was great, he took the time to address every question or concern I had and explain what options would be best for me. I always felt very comfortable in knowing I was in great hands with him and his staff. My results are exactly what I had asked for. My only regret is not doing this sooner!!
