425cc/457cc silicone, submuscular
Stats: 5'9", 145lbs, 29 years old, no kids.
Before BA: 34A/B (Depended on brand)
After BA: 32DD (Turns out I was wearing the wrong band size!)

My body never seemed proportionate. I've always been tall and had dancer's legs (muscular). It seemed like my breasts forgot to develop along with the rest of my body. I first started thinking about plastic surgery as a teenager, went to a few consultations in my early-mid 20's, even scheduled surgery twice. Something always felt "not right," whether it was an internal feeling or an external influence, I always found reasons why NOT to have surgery.

A few months ago, something shifted. I spent hours and hours on realself, scheduled a consultation with Dr. Gervais, and allowed myself to follow through. And I am SO glad I did.
I knew, the moment I stepped into the lobby at Minneapolis Plastic Surgery, that I had found the place. The day after my consultation, I scheduled my surgery. and one month later was the big day.

I decided to take a break from realself after my surgery. I wanted a positive and healthy healing experience. I didn't trust myself with access to endless posts, detailing the complications and hardships of others' experiences. (Side note-- I was sick the majority of the time, from birth until 1.5 years ago. Doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong, so I took to the internet to explore symptoms and diagnose myself. I know myself too well to know that I would do the same during my recovery period from surgery.)

So here I sit, almost two months later, ready to share a little bit of my journey. I went bra shopping today and got measured. 32DD-32DDD, depending on style and brand. At certain times during the last two months, I was convinced that my breasts weren't that much bigger than before, and I'd probably only measure to a C, if that. I'm sharing this to give a clear example of the reason I stayed off the internet. I thought about posting every day leading up and following my procedure, and I'm so glad that I didn't. Because in the long run, if 2 months can be considered the long run, I love how I look today. I love how my breasts fit my body. I love that I was able to go through with this, with a positive, optimistic, and rational attitude-- most of the time. Some days weren't so great. But I didn't catastrophize, I practiced patience and acceptance. And I wish nothing less for every other person who embarks on this journey.

Minneapolis Plastic Surgery made me feel welcome, comfortable, and safe. My experience was amazing from the very beginning. Sarah, the patient care coordinator, was SO helpful and kind throughout the process. Same goes for the women at the front desk-- welcoming, kind, and calming. I've been to a number of consultations over the past few years and none came close to my consultation with Dr. Gervais. The nurse who started the appointment and did the fitting with me was so special. We discovered a meaningful connection related to my career, and it was an experience I will never forget. Dr. Gervais was engaged, present, and confident. He has great bedside manner and will give you his full, undivided attention. Dr. Gervais spoke realistically and authentically about my surgery goals and expectations. I had surgery very early in the morning. I was really excited, I think way more excited than nervous. Nerves couldn't survive the presence and time spent with Dr. Gervais and the anesthesiologist. As I was marked and poked, we talked, we laughed, and I soaked in their confidence and excitement. Also, the space that they have at Minneapolis Plastic Surgery is BEAUTIFUL. It feels clean, bright, welcoming, and open. A nurse called, the night of my surgery, to check in. She reminded me of my limitations, which I needed and appreciated. I made one call to the on-call surgeon, after seeing a little bit of dried blood a couple of days post-op (totally normal.) I was a little bummed that my one week follow up was with a nurse, and not Dr. Gervais. Don't get me wrong, the nurse was awesome, I loved her! I was completely taken care of at the appointment too, so I wasn't bummed for any reason other than I didn't get to see the surgeon I felt so much gratitude toward. I met with the nurse and Dr. Gervais for my one month follow up. They seemed very pleased with my recovery; their excited reaction felt really good to experience. Dr. Gervais also administered Botox during this appointment, which was a lovely gift/promotion through Brilliant Distinctions. I will definitely continue Botox treatments with Dr. Gervais, too. I am beyond pleased with my new and improved breasts. They look natural and beautiful. A couple of my friends have had or are going to have consultations. People are shocked when I tell them I had breast augmentation surgery a couple of months ago. People who see me on a daily basis! It feels really good. I believe cosmetic surgery, like any other body modification, is an art; Dr. Gervais is a very talented, very brilliant artist.
