Growing up, I had always had a nice chest. I felt it wasn't too big or too small. I liked how I looked in clothes. After giving birth to my son, I breastfed for nearly a year. Once I stopped breastfeeding, I was very unhappy with the drastic change in my breasts. I went from a DD to an A. My breasts were entirely deflated and all the tissue was at the bottom of my breast, making it very difficult to find bras that fit correctly. I made the decision to have breast augmentation. I went with silicon implants because they feel more natural and brought me back to a D cup. The implant filled the breast tissue where I was once deflated. I am so happy with my choice to have surgery. I feel and look like myself again.
The biggest struggle for me was the lifting restrictions. I had a two years old son who loves to be picked up and held, and I work in a job that requires me to lift and move patients. I was fortunate enough to have the PTO to take a month off of work. I continued with some light duty for a few weeks after that and began doing some light weight training 2 months post op. Push-ups were the only challenge in the beginning. Doing them didn't feel quite right, so I opted to give my body another month and felt much better after 3 months performing exercises that targeted some chest muscles. I still wouldn't consider the length of recovery a negative. To me, it was well worth waiting to make sure I was healing properly.
