After having 2 kids and losing weight, I had very little breast tissue. I decided to get implants to improve my overall self esteem. Overall, everything went well and to date, I have not had any complications. I look and feel better in clothes and no longer have to buy padded bras to give the appearance of having breasts. The only issue I have had is adjusting to the size as they are ended up larger than I anticipated. I had expected to go from an AA to about a C and ended up a DD. While the implants are overall proportionate to my body, I would have liked being a bit smaller. I would recommend spending more time discussing expectations and determining the appropriate size.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review, and especially for your constructive criticism. I am sorry we fell short of your expectations and my personal standards. It's certainly not from lack of trying to do our best, and I do and will continue to take your comments to heart. I hope you bring up any concerns you may have at your next recheck appointment, and you can always schedule one at a time of your choosing, not just at my next recommended follow-up visit. If you prefer, we can schedule a Saturday recheck, which does allow more personal time than regular (busy) clinic days. As far as size goes, please realized that you are only 3 months into a 6-12 month healing process, and that your tissues will continue to compress, ribcage flatten, skin stretch, and implant position drop a bit more, all (usually) leading to a perception of decreasing size. I would rather have you feel a bit big initially and "perfect" (or as close to that as possible) long-term, than "perfect" right after surgery. Those are the (too many) patients who wistfully tell me later that they wished they had gone just slightly larger. I hope that is the case with you as well, and will justify my methods and doctor-patient decision making. Please keep in touch, and again, thanks for your comments.

Thanks Dr. Tholen! I understand I am only 3 months in and going from nothing to something is an lifestyle adjustment in itself. I am overall pleased with my results and deem the procedure a success as I have not had complications, I am healing well, and my confidence is boosted. I just need to adjust to my new body and get over the sticker shock of the new clothes I must buy! I trust your years of experience, and will just have to be more patient to see the final outcome. I also have to be more diligent in making the best use of time at my follow-up appointments - even if that means making a list of questions or concerns before I arrive. Thanks for your response!
