Unhappy with Mini Lift Results!

Disappointing Results - 11 month update

NYNY2020
$12,000
It’s coming up on a year since my facelift surgery and I am very disappointed with my results. I now have a pixie ear, bad scarring and a distorted tragus. I naively posted my initial good review too soon and even allowed Dr. Khosh to use my photo on his website 2 months after procedure.
Nothing has improved my scar. Last week Dr. Khosh told me I did not have enough skin laxity to re drape and lift ear to relieve the tension caused by his surgery. He also offered to refer me to a colleague. I asked why and related the reason I chose him was because he was experienced - what could his colleague advise? He then said “probably nothing different”. Why waste my time with a run around? It felt like he was trying to throw the problem and bad results somewhere else as he did not offer a solution.
I interviewed three Board Certified Plastic Surgeons and ended up choosing Dr. Khosh because he was a Castle Connolly Top Doctor recipient who stated he had performed over 300 facelifts. My photos show trusting someone because they are highly decorated does not mean they are the best. I hope my experience helps anyone making a choice.

if you don't see results that satisfy on the complications you've had, consider getting an opinion from a doctor working inside one of the excellent facial plastic surgery medical school departments in your area. they have access to their medical school surgical dermatology department surgeons too. facial plastics medical school department will have the most recent stuff to offer that's been proven, and there's much less chance of a biased opinion.

Thank you for the tip!

Sorry this happened to you. this is what I'm afraid of is having everything look like it's tucked into the ear and no longer having a Tragus.

It is horrible wearing your hair down all the time and trying to hide my ears. If you can get away with just doing fillers and Botox I recommend not having surgery. It seems like very few people have truly great results.

I'm much older than you so don't think fillers would do the trick. I hope you can find someone you have faith in to fix this. I know how you'd feel with having to undergo another surgery but maybe someone can surely help with this and make you feel confident again.

I have had awful scarring in front of my entire ear area, including tragus since a mini lift in 2014. I have tried infini rf…did nothing, and other micro needling. I am finally having a consultation to find out about surgical scar revision In October (he is booked out until then). Failing that, I will look into hair transplant in the area to try to camouflage better. I will do a review on the results. I know it’s little consolation but other folks are usually much more focused on themselves than scrutinising others

How did it go? Did you fix it?

I haven’t had it corrected as yet, the prices for plastic surgery have become prohibitive in Australia for a good surgeon. I might head over to the U.S. again if I can find a surgeon I feel confident in.

Scar at 10 months

NYNY2020
Scar still very noticeable at just over 10 months. Visiting Dr. in another week and will see what additional treatment he recommends. I've already had three injections of Kenalog/5 HU. Hoping it will get better!

My steroids didn't do a thing. Initially it looked great then it was like my ears were growing every months.

Scar not healing well

NYNY2020
Just wanted to show updated photos of my scar at 8 months. Unfortunately, the right side looks good but the left scar is very raised, red and noticeable. I’ve started treatment with both Kenalog and 5 fluorouracil. Will post again in 2 months to show progression. Anyone else have a similar issue?

Correction. Scar is at 9 months not 8.

Perhaps laser might help you with the scar. Do some research about lasers, I know some people have see improvement after laser

We all heal differently -Did you have the muscle pulled or just the skin? Try laser for the scars; it may help considerably. It seems mini facelifts are not going to give the best results depending on the amount of skin laxity

I had a SMAS which does include repositioning the muscle as well as skin. I will try lasers when winter hits. Hopefully it helps.

No reputable scientific research support lasers meaningfully reducing scars. Don't waste more of your money and time. Please see another plastic surgron. Post your warning about "this" doctor on every website you can find to help prospective patients make the right decision. Thank you for being brave. Wishing you all the best.

Also submit your photos via the Real Self Q&A and ask for advice and next steps from plastic surgeons.
