Happy with Mini Lift Results!

NYNY2020

I was planning to get a facelift at 60 but with COVID and the new ability to work from home, I decided now (almost 58) would be a good time.
I am very happy with my mini lift results and the way I am healing. Dr. Maurice Khosh is a truly talented surgeon. Both his credentials and professionalism are top notch. My comfort level was also increased knowing Dr. Khosh had prior experience removing keloids and understood the various issues darker skin can experience. My major concerns were the tell-tale scars which are now nearly imperceptible at just under 2 months. He did an excellent job with the placement. The procedure was done in office under local anesthesia. I was relaxed and comfortable and did not feel any pain.
A few suggestions if you decide to have surgery:
Purchase a travel pillow. It really helps supporting your neck as you have to sleep upright the first week.
Buy a bucket or floppy hat so your ears are protected and hidden when outdoors.
Purchase a few bandannas as you will not be able to loop a mask behind your ear while healing.
Take photos at least 3-4 times a week. It helps to look back. Seeing progress will eliminate your anxieties.
I highly recommend Dr. Khosh and will post photos again at my 3-month mark.

Great results - you look beautiful - I got mine done at 59 and glad I did. Your lips are so perfect

Thank you for posting with photos! So many don’t. This really does help others embarking on research. Your results are fantastic and your surgeon deserves your praise! Do post further down the line as your scars fade more. Darker/tan skin types have a whole lot of extra issues to deal with don’t they?! Makes us postpone surgery but your post is very reassuring. I wish your surgeon had a london base too!

Thank you both for your compliments! Having elective surgery, wrestling with your vanity and putting complete trust in your surgeon is not an easy task.
I will continue to update & post photos of my scars for the very reason you mentioned. When doing my own research, It was difficult to find photos from darker/tan skin types.

Thanks for posting the surgical suture and healing images. I never see those so it was good to see what is actually done and how it will look!

Scar not healing well

NYNY2020
Just wanted to show updated photos of my scar at 8 months. Unfortunately, the right side looks good but the left scar is very raised, red and noticeable. I’ve started treatment with both Kenalog and 5 fluorouracil. Will post again in 2 months to show progression. Anyone else have a similar issue?

Correction. Scar is at 9 months not 8.

Perhaps laser might help you with the scar. Do some research about lasers, I know some people have see improvement after laser

We all heal differently -Did you have the muscle pulled or just the skin? Try laser for the scars; it may help considerably. It seems mini facelifts are not going to give the best results depending on the amount of skin laxity

I had a SMAS which does include repositioning the muscle as well as skin. I will try lasers when winter hits. Hopefully it helps.

No reputable scientific research support lasers meaningfully reducing scars. Don't waste more of your money and time. Please see another plastic surgron. Post your warning about "this" doctor on every website you can find to help prospective patients make the right decision. Thank you for being brave. Wishing you all the best.

Also submit your photos via the Real Self Q&A and ask for advice and next steps from plastic surgeons.

Scar at 10 months

NYNY2020
Scar still very noticeable at just over 10 months. Visiting Dr. in another week and will see what additional treatment he recommends. I've already had three injections of Kenalog/5 HU. Hoping it will get better!

My steroids didn't do a thing. Initially it looked great then it was like my ears were growing every months.
