I had underdeveloped lower jaw. 8 years ago I saw a doctor who installed a silicone implant.Unfortunately after the surgery and several corrections it still did not look well. Dr Niamtu removed my old implant and did genioplasty. Now I do not need an implant. I am happy with result! It was worth it!

Hello! My name is Elena. I am 30 years old. From my childhood I had underdeveloped lower jaw. I was pretty unhappy with the way I look, and about 8 years ago I decided to find a way to improve this. I saw Dr Levin from Russia. He suggested to install a silicone implant. But unfortunately after one surgery and several corrections it still did not look well well. My chin was small and asymmetrical. I was upset about the result, but at that time I was afraid to do another surgery. I left the idea to do anything about this for next 8 years. After I moved to the US I started thinking about my jaw again. I saw a couple doctors in my area. They said I need to remove the chin implant and have a genioplasty done. But all of them refused to do it saying it was risky. They all said that they afraid to do it, because they are not sure what kind of implant was installed in Russia. They were concerned that implant could crush to many pieces during the surgery. Dr Fallon from Syracuse,NY suggested me to see Dr Joe Niamtu as the best doctor who could help me with my problem. He said if somebody knows how to do repeated surgery it’s Dr Niamtu. We have contacted his office immediately. And after that all what we did, we were enjoying all pre and post surgery experience. All our conversations with Dr Niamtu and his medical personnel were very professional. They responded very fast and provided all the necessary information and answered my questions. Everything worked very well. All the pre-surgery paperwork and organizations were done over just a couple of days. We sent them all that was needed. They sent all documents for us, with very detailed and thorough instructions, the dates for surgery and pre- and post-consultations. I was an out-of-town patient, and it was extremely easy to consult Dr. Niamtu and to schedule the surgery even though we could not meet in person. We had scheduled the day of the surgery, the day of the pre-surgery consultation, and 3 post surgery visits. All our impression of Dr Niamtu and his medical personnel was very positive. I felt very comfortable. He did a CT scan of my head, and he explained to me very well what is going on with my jaw and wha he can do to help me. From the first minute after I met him,I knew that he is definitely my doctor. Before I was worrying a lot to have a new surgery. Especially after my not very good experience in Russia. But after our pre-surgery visit felt that everything will be good this time. And it was! Now is has been almost two month from my surgery. I am absolutely happy with result! Dr Niamtu removed my old implant. He cut my bones and moved them down and forward. After that I do not need an implant any more. After the surgery Dr Niamtu explained to us all the post-surgery rehabilitation. I think the first month was the most difficult. When it was painful, you can not chew, everything is numb and swollen. And there was also a very strange pressure feeling in the lower teeth. It was very annoying. And also you can not open your mouth very well, and sometimes I could hear some crunchy sound. It all became better after one month. Once I was worrying about my pain level. We called Dr Niamtu on his personal mobile number that he gave us beforehand for situations like that. That was very nice on his side. He comforted me, suggested some pain medicine and explained that everything is normal and it takes time for all the muscles and nerves to recover. And with every day it was getting better. First,I was worrying a little bit that maybe my chin is too big for me. But I was patient and yes, it was just swollen a lot.Now it is much smaller. And I love it! My chin is still a bit numb but it is slowly regaining it’s sensitivity. I can feel more and more parts of my lip and chin. And my smile has improved a lot! Just after the surgery I could not control my smile. I did not feel how I do it and it looked rather strange. Also during the first couple weeks after the surgery I could not see my upper teeth while I was smiling. But it is gone with time. And now I have my normal smile back! After all I am glad that I did it! It was absolutely worth it. I am so happy that after all this searching and speaking with other doctors I came to Dr Niamtu. Thank you, dear Dr Joe. I am really happy! These photos will show what I looked like before the surgery and one month after surgery. Thank you everyone for reading this.

Hi! No,I did not do bucal fat removal. It was just a genioplasty. I lost a little bit of weight right before the picture was taken. I gained it back, but the neck area really looks much better now. I do not know what cause that. But I really love that bonus too!

Thank you for your reply. It looks great. I want the same doing but the surgeon said it’s best to remove my implant first and then see how much the chin goes back to the original shape. He says this way he will know how many mm to bring the chin forward. He said doing both the removal and genioplasty together is more unpredictable because he doesn’t know how the soft tissues will respond after the implant is taken out. Did your surgeon mention this?
