It has been over 10 years in the making, after 2 pregnancies that have left my abdomen like the proverbial deflated balloon, my breasts void of the supple tissue they used to hold. As a competitive figure/fitness competitor in the making, I have very low body fat which seems to enhance the loose skin that I have not been able to abolish through exercise. I have a supportive spouse that has said I am beautiful the way I am, but if this procedure makes me feel better about myself, he will support my decision.
It is surreal that I am finally moving forward with the surgery. I have been wanting to have my pre-pregnancy body back for 16 years! I have my consultation with Dr. Clifford King on 6/6, and from what I have read he seems like a great person and surgeon.
I am hoping to have surgery in mid-July, as I am a teacher and will be starting school again Aug 18. That should give me 4 weeks to recover, and even after the first few weeks of school, my day job is not very physically demanding.
I had rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder 1 1/2 years ago, and THAT was a rough recovery- physically and emotionally. I had bad reactions to medications and felt miserable. Pain management is very important to me as I cannot tolerate narcotics and most pain relievers. I also become nauseated at the mention of the word. Anxiety also seems to creep up on me, especially when I feel out of control, so I will mention those to him too. I try to take the most homeopathic/natural routes, so I plan to do that post-op too. SO those are my main concerns, besides the aesthetic portion of the procedure.
I anticipate writing often, especially right before surgery and for the weeks after. It helps to clear my mind. Being in a virtual community with those that have also gone through this helps, too. I told myself I will not post pre-op pictures until surgery is confirmed. I'm weird like that :)

T-4 days for consult!
So excited for my consult with Dr. King. Praying that everything lines up to make this transformation a success! I have been killing it at the gym the last 2-4 weeks, and am by far the most fit/muscle build that I've ever been! Not too shabby for 34! Most people think I am 23 so I'm going to keep rolling with that one!
Once in a blue moon that thought of doubt comes trickling along, and a voice says, are you sure you just couldn't live with your body the way it is? And then I bend over and see the itty bitty boobies and dough ball of a stomach hanging down and say, ABSOLUTELY NOT! I am still remaining realistic and just wanting what I had pre-prego...which by the way, I hardly remember what my body looked like!
I used to be a 36D from 18-27, then POOF when I started bodybuilding/fitness the boobies said SEEYA LATER, and the stomach came out of hiding and said, ahahhahahhahahah here I am! So I am only looking to see the hard core work I put into my body underneath the loose skin. Thank God I have pretty decent sized pec muscles otherwise there might be people that have to ask if I were a girl or not :/
Well, my main squeeze is home from work so off to squeeze him then go squeeze some muscles at the gym.
TTFN!

Consultation done- moving forward!
So I met with Dr. King on Friday, and I am SO happy I did! I had a nightmare the night before that he tried doing a tummy tuck on me with a pair of scissors LOL! I shared that with him and he shrieked :) At any rate, he was extremely thorough, patient, great listener, and spent about 45 minutes with me going over everything in detail. I even got to try on the boob samples, and holy cow- I couldn't stop feeling myself up HAHA! I wanted to take them home :) I was pro-saline, but after feeling those puppies, I am going to go with silicone.
As far as the tummy tuck, he said I am a perfect candidate, fit, healthy, and severe diastasis rectus. He said, as I was confident of, that nothing will fix it except surgery. I am 110% ready for that to be gone!
Since I live about an hour and a half away from the surgery center, I will be staying in a hotel the night of surgery. My oldest daughter, who is 16, will be staying with me. I really hope it will not be too much on her. I owe her lots of ice cream shoppe trips! My BF is an accountant and cannot take any work off except the day of surgery :(
Well, I am off to hit the muddy trail (going for a bike ride). More on this later!
