Medical Micro-Needling Caused Aged & Crepey Skin on Neck

andreadbulmer
I received 5 MMN treatments on my double chin as I wanted to tighten the skin under my chin. All 5 treatments were performed 3 weeks apart. After my 3rd treatment, I noticed that my neck was starting to crepe but I didn't know what it was. After my 4th & 5th treatments, my skin was seriously distressed. I believe that the aesthetician should have noticed the creping after the 3rd session and stopped treatments.
I have gotten expensive Botox and Juvederm VOLITE injections to help increase the moisture in my crepy skin but nothing helps.
I'd love to hear your experiences and if I received too many sessions.
I have started legal proceedings and have to prove that this has happened before.
I'd like to add that these procedures were performed in Fort St. John, BC and not by any of the Dr.'s on this site.

I have had the same issue. I did it in 2018..I think. 5 treatments on face, neck and chest. Those areas look creapy now and older than the rest of my skin. I regret ever doing it and the esthetician is terrified of me, always pushes me away from any procedure now. I don't know how to fix it and have given up.

I’m sorry this happened to you too. Wreaks havoc on my self esteem. My neck doesn’t match my face.:-(
What do you think caused the crepey skin? Too many treatments, the swelling, the dryness?

Can you share more information? Like what was your age, how far apart were the treatments. Did you discover why it did not work well? As I understand it, microneedling encourages fibroblast / collagen and elastin growth and once you get your skin to up its collagen / elastin production cycle you can keep it going.

My guess is it damaged the structure and I was too old at the time for my skin to build more collagen. I wish I would have just accepted the fact of aging and hadn't wasted over 1k to disfigure myself. It's awful but fact is I made the choice and now I have to live with it. No one would help me when I called the place that did it. I could tell they were scared.

You are supposed to wait 4 weeks between sessions if you go 1 mm and 5-6 if you go deeper. My guess is that they did not wait long enough for the collagen to build up. Were you able to sue them? I have thought about suing my ps for very botched work and I have lawyers in my family, but I could not handle the stress right now . I heard it is very hard to sue and win plastic surgeons.

I’m looking at the pictures. Was it simple microneedling or did it have RF? It looks like the fat is gone and the skin is loose. A dermapen would not do that. It must be RF?

It was medical micro needling. Not sure of the difference.
I have a small claims action in the works as we speak, so I’m looking for other people this has happened to.
I also believe that since the swelling and dryness was so severe, that it caused my neck to age and crepey.
Would you mind sharing your after pictures?

I believe they were too close together. At 3 weeks is when you're supposed to see the maximum results. It shouldve been at least 6 weeks apart to give the skin time to completely heal and allow fow maximum results and to also let your body produce more of it's own collagen and healing properties as opposed to shocking it into healing so often .

Thank you so much for your response. Are you a health care worker?

Definitely 4-6 weeks. Everything I've read (and I've researched a lot) say 4-6 weeks. FYI, salons use longer needles and can go up to 2mm via because they are experienced at this trade but for regular home users it is recommend that a .5mm or over needle should not be done more than every 4-6 weeks. And if you are older than 50 I would think your esthetician would accommodate for your skin age. Example, schedule the next session at 84 days based on the cell turnover rate for that age. You could take a look at the esthetician credentials as they should know this if they ever received training; (4-6 weeks is fact, 84 days is my opinion).

Don't waste your money on this non evasive treatments
If it works is only temporary!
I would go for smas necklift and platysmaplasty!
