Microneedling for Acne Scars

WORTH IT$299
I’ve tried various treatments to reduce my acne scars - various peels, serums, microdermabrasion, etc. And now we can add microneedling to the list. I’m super hopeful this will reduce the scarring while helping even out my tone and texture. As you can see from the before pictures, I have general redness, especially on the cheeks & nose.
They started by numbing my face and then got down to work. The actual needling wasn’t painful - the sound of the Dermapen was the worst part. (Think tattoo gun) The nose, upper lip, and forehead were the most tender spots. The technician said she went pretty deep and thinks I should see good results. I purchased the 3-pack since it was 30% off.
I’m currently 4.5 hours post-procedure and have no discomfort and just a little redness.

1st Session - Almost 1 Week Post

Surprisingly I didn’t have many of the reactions I’ve read so much about here. The redness was pretty much gone by the next day and I experienced very little flaking. My skin has definitely felt drier, but not uncomfortably so. I didn’t think there was much improvement until I took these progress pics and noticed a marked decrease in overall redness and an increase in overall skin tone. Yay! Still don’t see much improvement in scarring, though. My 2nd session is scheduled for 1/20/18.

Hi Cmoothart,
Your skin in these pics look exactly as it should after one micro needling session. I’ve been doing micro needling for 18 years and the first session breaks up the scar tissue, stimulates collagen strands and improves continuously for 4 weeks. After your second session, you will see more improvement. I recommend 4 sessions, one month apart for each session and then touch up sessions every 6 months or 2 years, then yearly. Micro needling promotes beautiful blemish free skin. Have faith and follow your providers treatment plan. You will be thrilled wit your end result. Happy New Year

The technician should have given you a lot more information. Your skin heals the most quickly on the outside. It takes four to six weeks for the internal micro damage to heal. You will see the most result after about 3 - 4 weeks post treatment. After about 6 treatments you will likely see very significant changes for the better. Both in improved skin texture, reduction in scarring and more even pigment. I have clients in their 20's, 30's, 50's and 70's who are all seeing great results. I take pictures just before the 4th treatment, so we see 3 treatments actually healed and then one month after the 6th treatment. Everyone I've performed this series of treatments on has had great results, including my own skin.

Thanks for the info! Definitely looking forward to continuing to see some great results. My second treatment is next weekend.

Have you ever completely removed PIH that has lasted for several years? I.e. the dermal type.. I'm seeing improvement so far with my microneedling and I'm ecstatic, but I feel like I'm beginning to see diminishing returns and I wonder if some pigmentation just can't be fixed.

You will just give it time. I am skeptical of anything that says it will improve skin...Just because 99% of it is fake and we are lead to believe there are all these miracle products out there. I have done this at home now for over a year and only every few months or so (No schedule) and my pore are drastically smaller and in check, my skin tone is way better!!!! I make sure to use Estee Lauders night serum afterwards (dont know if this helps or not) because they say your skin will absorb products very well after a micro-needling. I numb my face with cream and wipe it clean after and hour with alcohol then use a 1mm roller and and then roll away in a criss crossy pattern. Clean my face up and put serum on it. Good luck girl keep at it......PS you are beautiful in your before pic I couldnt believe you felt you needed anything done.

2nd Treatment - Immediately after

Ok, THIS was the redness I expected from my first treatment! Yikes - made me wish I had tinted windows while I was driving home so no one could see me. Haha. Definitely feeling “burnt” and tight. Will post another progress picture in about a week.
