Microblading - Pink Brows After 2 Years

Microblading is not for everyone. I had 3 sessions of Microblading done 2-1/2 years ago (supposedly a success, as i'm one of the pictures on the technician’s yelp page) and while the results healed correctly, to this day, I have pink scarring and redness around my brows. My technician was professional and kind, I never complained to her about this before, so I'm hesitant to post this at all but I want to help others make an informed decision before they try Microblading (in general).
Microblading seems to work great for a lot of ladies, especially brunettes, but word of caution to blondes or fair skinned/ porcelain/ rosy complected people considering Microblading-- they tell you Microblading only lasts for about 1-2 years, but what they don't mention is that some people are left with "pink brows"-- subtle pink scarring around your brows long after the ink fades. I feel like no one warned me about that. if Angelina mentioned it I don't recall, but I wish I had done more research besides looking at Instagram before and afters. There are many articles about this on RealSelf with photos on this topic. Some people spend thousands of dollars on laser treatments to remove this redness. I still have redness / faint pink scarring on my eyebrows 2 1/2 years later, even though the natural dye or pigment she applied during the Microblading has all faded away. I wish I had known this might happen or I would not have tried Microblading to begin with and just tinted my brows or filled them with brow pencil instead.
When I first got Microblading done, I wasn't happy with the results but I didn't complain. The result was not what I had expected, but I was patient and followed the aftercare instructions to a T and waited for my brows to heal, scab and fade 50% as instructed. The brows themselves were not terrible, they just weren't what I wanted but I was relieved when they lightened up a bit. Although I tried to be happy with the results in the first few months, in the end, I regretted Microblading. The stroke pattern was much more heavy, dense and bold than I expected, very bold against my fair skin and light features and the shape and effect just didn't appear very natural on me-- it was a bold filled in fierce brow rather than the soft feathery natural look I wanted and expected from looking at the photos of other clients. Someone at a store asked if I had my eyebrows tattooed and my heart sank. It was that obvious. My husband wasn't much of a fan either, we laugh about it now, thankfully. I wasn't happy with the shape (very arched and round even though I asked for straighter brows) and Angelina tried to adjust but it really didn't make much of a difference by that point. It was my mistake for not speaking up sooner. I trusted her to do what she thought would look best and in all fairness she did make my eyebrows more symmetrical which opened up my face a bit, so I enjoyed that. But the pink brows effect never really went away and I accepted that I made a mistake and simply waited patiently for the Microblading and redness to fade away. I even cut bangs to hide my brows for awhile.
Good news is, 2-1/2 years later, my brows have finally faded away and I feel like myself again. I'm back to my natural face and I can pencil in my brows as light or dark as I want now. The ink is 95% gone but I'm still left with some subtle pink scarring over the bare areas where the microblading strokes were previously done. It's not a huge deal, but it never goes away. I can cover the pink with make-up and brow pencil but since I work out a lot and I don't like to wear make up everyday it's annoying to have any redness that I have to deal with this long after. Kind of defeats the point of Microblading if you have to wear make up to correct redness every day.
Ladies with fair skin, consider yourself forewarned of the risk of pink brows. It really shows up if you are pale! And it takes a very long time to fade if you decide Microblading is not for you.
If you have any hesitation, Save your $$ and buy fancy brow pencils, powders, waxes, get brow shaping, tinting, or lash services instead. like I said, Microblading is not for everyone.

Update Photos from 2.5 years after Microblading
Shelly1981June 28, 2018
Here are photos showing my eyebrows 2.5 years after Microblading with zero makeup, no eyebrow pencil or shadow. Note the subtle pink area around the brows. It’s hard to photograph but looks like irritation or scarring up close. I normally fill in the slight pink areas and gaps with brow pencil daily. For those of you who have Microblading regrets, do not get touch ups!! Just let it fade away naturally. Take care of your skin and wear sunscreen. It will fade with time. If you are thinking of getting Microblading, don’t do it. It is not worth the risks, and the depression and regret that comes with bad permanent cosmetics. It is your face, and bold brows come and go. You will look younger just sticking to eyebrow pencil which washes off. Trust me

This is what I tell my clients on why I refuse to do microbladding. I see this very frequently! It’s a terrible trend.

Honestly it might not be scarring. I thought mine were a complete scar and I have the salmon color going on as well. And he said I actually have no scarring or skin damage whatsoever. The pink outline you are still seeing is the undertone of the color that was used. From people I’ve talked to, apparently it’s one of the last colors to “come out”. Check with your dermatologist just in case :)

Agree with above comment. I have scarring because of my aggressive removal techniques (see my profile/review.) For you, his is the colour that the ink faded to. If you want, you can speed it up by having a session of tattoo removal but no guarentee it'll work (depends on ink ingredients), and it'll fry your natural eyebrow hair.
I'm fair skinned too. I get a scab and I'm left with redness. But it doesn't last a year! It's PIE scarring but it won't stay red that long. Since I don't believe it's scaring, I'd try a light glycolic peel at home every few weeks. But you're 100 % right. People don't realize the commitment involved. Sure, it "fades".. But then you're left with funky colours. So then you HAVE TO keep doing it yearly. Not what most consumers expect and it's unfair.
