Horrible Experience
You know the saying you get what you paid for ? That’s exactly what I got when I went to spectrum aesthetics. The staff was amazing prior to surgery they were very helpful and also filled out FMLA paperwork for me. After I had surgery everything changed the after care was horrible. The after care instructions we couldn’t read. They must have ran out of ink. Also they only gave me instructions for my breast reduction and not my tummy tuck. It was hard to get a hold of the staff I had complications after surgery. I requested to see a nurse I was told to come in early so I was there by 6 AM. I seen two girls at the counter when I got there they took me back into an exam room I asked the girl (Melaine) if she was an RN she stated that she was. I asked her this because she used a suture kit on my drain also she was helping me with stitches that opened up on my abdomen. Come to find out on spectrums ig she was a Medical Assistant. Dr. Ortega was hard to contact. Called because I was having fevers and no one return my calls for two days I kept calling to try to get an appointment and nothing. Finally I was contacted by the pre-op nurse to let me know that Dr. Ortega was on vacation. The pre-op nurse Leia was great at communicating with me via email I would send her pictures of my abdomen. The open stitch turned into a pretty bad open wound on my stomach. I basically had a hole that had to heal from the inside out. Eventually she just stopped emailing. Called to try to get ahold of her and nothing. Prior to this Dr. Ortega wanted me to come back to have my wound re stitched. At that point I felt like I didn’t want him to touch me. I seeked help from another surgeon who took a swab of my wound and stated it was infected gave me antibiotic and said he cannot close a wound with infection also this needs to heal from the inside out and then I may need revision surgery. I understand these complications can happen with surgery but the way I was treated there was wrong. When I went to speak with a supervisor they sent me to see the accountant. It was just a horrible experience. No one was who they said they were which worries me.
