Drains OUT! Hallelujah!!!!
Dolls!! I had one last (10 day) post op appointment with Dr. Ortega before I leave Miami and go back home early Monday morning. My drainage has been low (below 25ml) for two consecutive days but I didn’t get my hopes up for betting my drains removed. I made peace with the idea of having the drains in for 14 days (Dr. Ortega’s normal standard) even though they are a HUGE (literal) pain! I had been leaking from my right drain site for the past 24 hours. I had to change my underwear twice bc the drainage kept sleeping through the gauze pads I had in there. Ugh! I am so glad that I bought cheap granny panties. They went straight in the trash.
So Dr. Ortega comes in with a nurse, greets me and takes a look, touches a few areas and says “Take her drains out!” I could’ve hugged him! I was so happy! All the laying around, taking (nasty) vitamins and pedialyte paid off after all! The nurse cut the stitch that held the drains in place and carefully pulled them out one by one. It isn’t painful just very awkward and a bit uncomfortable. The right side was easier than the left. The left drain felt longer and was all the way near my hip bone. But when I say as soon as they were out it alleviated so much discomfort! I can sit and lay more comfortable and I can even laugh/cough a bit (still a bit painful). So if you are getting a TT and going through it: hold on until Ross drains are out. Of course there is still swelling and pressure and I am most definitely still taking it easy (PLEASE GAKE IT SLOW AND EASY) at 10 days post op but it is such a RELIEF! I used the restroom and took a shower as soon as I got home and it was the most comfortable that I have been in days!!!
So my PS says that things are healing VERY well and he gave me the OK to start scar therapy. I am using Palmers vitamin E therapy oil (pic attached). I also made sure I got a note for work (which starts back Monday) from the office stating that I need to take it easy for another week, maybe two. I work in a warehouse so I may just be put on an easier/lighter job. He also graduated me from binder to faja. Spectrum provided me with a complimentary faja (which is amazing! And why I love them) which saved me about $50+! I’m not really feeling the faja. I use my foams/lipo bras underneath it but 1. It’s one of those full body ones that goes to your knee and it’s Summer. 2. It has the butt cut out which I hate bc my butt shape doesn’t fit in the holes. Annoying! 3. It’s tan. But it’s FREE and good to start and of course I will have to buy more since I am to be compressed at all times for 4-6 months (the end of the year). I have my binder a Good wash and will still keep it bc I think it will give me better support while I am at work even though it’s bulkier. Also no Yoga for 3 months (so sad) but I can do light exercise (treadmill) 4 weeks P.O. which he encourages to strengthen those newly repair muscles!
I also spoke a bit with my PS about my next procedure: Breast augmentation with an extended arm lift! Coming 2019!!! YAY! Until then I will probably do updates once a month now and enjoy my new belly more and more as the swelling goes down! Best decision/birthday gift EVER!!!!
