It's been a while

So... life doesn't slow down just because you've had surgery ( whoda thunkit). I am back to my school and motherly duties and all pain and swelling have virtually gone away. Every now and then ( especially after an intense work out) I will begin to swell. I started workingout right at the 4 week mark and have a personal trainer who understands my healing situation. Overall, I am happy with my results. I may gripe here and there (I feel like one side protudes more than I would like to), but I look 100% better than I used to and I am more confident when I step outside in jeans and a tee shirt. I am the same weight I was pre op but my clothing fit differently, and with exercise I have become a little more toned. My scar is starting to fade a little and I could not be happier. Something to note: I have gone through an emotional roller coaster these past few months. My feelings have ranged from guilt and shame for "doing this to myself" to satisfaction and confidence in my new body. Even now, sometimes I will fluctuate a little between guilt and confidence. It's a process and I know I am still healing.

1 month

1 month post op and I am pretty happy with my results so far. I love love LOVE my bellybutton. I have a little bruising on one side, but I am hoping once the discoloration goes away It will look better.

Feeling better every day!

So I am 2 weeks post op ( woo hoo!!) and almost standing fully straight. I stopped taking my pain meds about 5 days post op and haven't had severe pain since. I did cough on the third night, and let me tell you it was the most painful thing I've experienced in a LONG time. I carry a pillow with my everywhere now just in case so that I can splint my stomach. I do have a numbness in my lower part of my stomach but I was told that this is normal and can last for up to one year as all the nerves regenerate! I still wear my binder 24/7 and will probably do so for another month or so. My mom has been a huge help and since she is a nurse she has answered a lot of questions I had. While I was in Miami I was a little confused because I started with Vanity but my actual surgery was at Spectrum but both offices have been following up with me over the last two weeks. Emotionally I am all over the place. I am hoping as the swelling goes down and I can start scar treatment that I will level out and start to feel a little bit better about my surgery. I'm going to upload a few pictures I have taken over the last two weeks.
