Changing from Not Worth It to Worth It

After two years of feeling disappointed over the results of my BBL, I have decided to change my review from "Not Worth It" to "Worth It".

After reviewing my pre-op photos and my two year post-op photos, I believe Dr. Salama did the best any plastic surgeon could have, given the state of my body. My 30 lb weight loss from a few years prior had left me with a flat, saggy bottom and I should probably have chosen to have a posterior thigh lift with stomach liposuction done but I did not believe these procedures would give me the result I was looking for which is why I chose the BBL. I now believe that I had unrealistic expectations for this procedure and it was unfair of me to put those on Dr. Salama. I was shocked that he took me from 40" to 46" in the hips overnight and was hoping for far more fat to be removed from my stomach but I now know that he performed the surgery to a tee and through proper life changes (no alcohol, a healthy diet, and cardio/resistance training 5 days a week) have become happy with the shape I now have. I am only giving my experience 4/5 stars though as I also had upper arm liposuction done by Dr. Salama at the same time as my BBL that I am disappointed with as only the back of my arms were liposuctioned. This left me with very rippled upper arms and small bulges right above each elbow. The left arm had almost all the fat right down to the tricep removed and does not match the right arm but I am hoping these issues will correct themselves with further resistance training.

I have posted my pre-op and two years post-op pics to this update.

Everyone was raving about the Brazilian Butt Lift...

Everyone was raving about the Brazilian Butt Lift so I flew out to Florida to have it done and was very disappointed. So disappointed that I'm not going to even post before and after photos. It's not that any damage was done, it's that I can't even tell I had the procedure done. My butt is a bit rounder but there is no evidence that any liposuction was done on my stomach, back and sides. I already had a smaller waist so I thought that the doctor would be able to really take me down in the stomach and get rid of my love handles. When I met with him, he said he wasn't going to take a lot off of my stomach because I didn't have a lot to take off but I expressed to him my desire for my love handles to be gone and he said that was doable. Even after the initial swelling had gone down after the first couple of weeks, I was wondering why my stomach didn't look much different but I thought I just had to wear the compression garments as much as possible and get the massages done and let the swelling go down completely but the results never came. The procedure was very painful and not worth the amount of money spent, miles travelled and recovery time.

Also, a word of caution, I stayed in a 'recovery house' that was run by the nurses that work at the doctor's office and it was an absolutely terrible experience. The people who were taking care of us in the house had no medical training whatsoever and one of them actually refused to help us with things like getting in and out of the shower or bending up and down from the toilet. In the 10 days that I spent there recovering, we were not fed a single fresh vegetable. The first day I was there, we got some boiled green beans and that was it. It felt like we were being fed table scraps the whole time, I couldn't wait to leave. I actually looked forward to getting on the plane to go home because the food on the plane was going to be better than what they were feeding us at the recovery house.

I know that this doctor has had great results with many other patients and is highly regarded so I must have just be an oddball case. He is actually a very nice man and his medical staff is great, I just didn't see the results that I thought I would.
