47 and Want my Implants REMOVED: Explants - Miami, FL

I went from being very healthy all my life to having constant, annoying, health problems that I always trace back to my immune system. At 42 I really started trying to watch my diet, excercise, and overall health. I realized that massive doses of Vitamins, especially C, helped. Still the auto immune issues always creped back in. Many of my problems were age related but even my mother doesn't have all the little issues I do.

I got saline implants 13 years ago, and while my breasts look great, I hate them. My general look is more matronly and just bigger. I was 5' 4" and 125lbs when I got them. Now I weigh 140 and have a hard time losing weight. I have seen younger women gain weight after having implants and cant help but think that it causes weight gain too. It seems no doctors or reports validated my concerns. I just felt crazy and told myself it was the aging process.

When my young cousin had a liver transplant and was told he had take an expensive and strong medication that suppressed his immune system for life, I knew having manufactured implants of any kind had to be a problem if the body is likely to even reject another human organ from a sibling. I talked to doctors and they told me my breasts were perfect. My concerns were invalid.

After coming on Real Self and reading stories from so many women like myself who want out, I gained the courage. I found 2 doctors in Miami who specialized in fat transfer and implant removal. I have appts. and will document the process here.

I agree ! These things are toxic ! Glad you are getting them out! You will feel better ! I already do !!!!

Brenda, were your IC symptoms pain as well as going to the bathroom alot? I get painful flares and they usually go into remission but it is getting harder to control. You have given me so much hope right now!!
June 23, 2016
Oh yeah ! It was painful to hold the urine in and painful afterwards when I would go. It was bad. incalled it my angry bladder!
June 23, 2016
And like you flares. Times where I was decent and other times where it wasn't. I tried to watch all the so called IC food triggers, but that rarely helped .
June 24, 2016
I am amazed that your angry bladder has settled because I know how painful and irritated it can be! You are the luckiest woman!! I hope and pray I have the same outcome. My IC started within months from BA, I always thought they were the cause, 26 years later, we shall see. I hope after 26 years the body can heal! Woohoo for you!! I will take an A (I am only a B anyway) for no IC!!
June 24, 2016
Yeah, that's how I felt! I have been praying for you and will continue to .

I know of Blinski who is the other? I already explanted but need bft once I heal. Thanks
June 25, 2016
there is no correlation between weight gain and breast implants....its the aging that causes that....menopause and other hormonal imbalances....there is no proof that breast implants cause autoimmune disease.....stop blaming your implants for everything....and diet plays a major if not the biggest role to your gaining weight.....

Breast Implant Removal with Fat Transfer

mariamante

A friend had fat transfer to her face with Dr. Blinsky about a year ago. She looked spectacular, natural, and it has lasted. While talking to another cosmetic surgeon, she explained to me that the reason the fat remains is that Dr. Blinsky had the latest equipment necessary for fat grafting and that he is a real specialist in fat grafting, unlike many others who also do fat transfers. Dr. Blinsky has an amazing reputation and he has been a surgeon for almost 40 years. Knowing of Dr. Blinsky's reputation, I was thrilled when I found out he did implant removal with fat transfer. The implants were making me sick. I had fatigue and had all of the symptoms of BII, Breast Implant Illness, I found out about from a network of ladies around the world, with the same wierd auto immune symptoms that I had. Besides feeling achey and tired, the implants didn't look good, especially with weight gain and inflamation they caused. I wanted my implants out for years, but I was afraid of the results. I knew Dr. Blinsky would do a good job. He didn't disappoint. I am so thrilled with the results!! I have my girly figure back and more than anything that dull feeling of a hangover is gone! My shoulder and knee pain went away immediately. Dr. Blinsky is amazing, and I would't have had the courage to do this if it weren't for Dr. Blinsky. Removing my implants was something that needed to be done, and I was fortunate enough to be in the hands of one of the finest surgeons in this region. I feel so much better, and look better than I did before! Words can not express my gratitude.

Wow! Great! I am so happy for you! Your story is very inspiring! I am also 47 years old with 19 year saline implants and want them out NOW!
I have constant fatigue and depression. Took me this long to figure it out.
How was the surgery?
Did you have the capsule (en-bloc) removed? It seems some doctors will take out some won't . I am concerned about the toxins left in the body.
Do you have drains?

Thank you,

Also the weight gain thing!!!!! I thought it was my age!!! :( I want these things out!!!
June 22, 2016
Hi, have you found out anything more about the capsule? I originally wanted mine removed (I also have very old saline implants and health issues) but the 2 doctors I saw said to not remove the capsule and they didn't think the health issues were related.

Hi! I have done more research on it and it is recommend to take it out. There are a few exceptions; if the capsule is very thin and it might cause damage taking it out because it is adhered to ribs or nerves. I found that most doctors do not want to take it out because it requires more work for them. Knowing this I would really want the capsule out as well. The only thing is the doctor will only know when they are doing the surgery.
How are you doing now? Are you health symptoms improving? How about the fatigue?
I have a doctors appointment with my PCP next Monday. I am hoping my insurance will cover it. I am really anxious to get them out as soon as possible. I just really cannot take it anymore.
Thanks for listening!

Hello! I am also experiencing a ton of health issues that I believe are being caused by my implants (extreme fatigue, digestive issues/food allergies, hair loss, body swelling) but I've had 2 consultations with plastic surgeons and they both said there is no way the saline implants could be causing the problems but were happy to remove them anyway. Neither said a capsulectomy was necessary and even recommended against it. I'm wondering if you had the capsule removed, and how you are feeling now that they are out? Is your health still improving? This capsule issue is causing me so much angst. Thank you so much.
June 24, 2016
Hey the capsule issue is also making me put off explant.
June 24, 2016
I am going to update my profile soon with some information about this! I had a phone consult with Dr. Ed Melmed (one of the leading surgeons who believe implants are toxic) and he actually told me not to remove the capsule in my case!

Visit healingbreastimplantillness website & FB acct. I have seen a lot of his patients go back for 2nd surgery to remove capsules he left. Not sure why he flip flops about this. Pathology results consistently confirm it is the capsule/scar tissue holding all the toxins while trying to protect the body
June 24, 2016
Are you referring to Dr. Melmed's patients? Ugh. Did you have saline or silicone implants?
June 25, 2016
I am not risking it, I want to heal, so mine are being removed!
June 25, 2016
I am now looking into local doctors for an opinion on removal as well.
June 25, 2016
I had saline too, but I do not want any toxins left in my body, if they are there. I am hoping for my symptoms to improve or go away!
June 25, 2016
I have 2 phone consults next week with explant experts; and I just emailed a local surgeon who I found on this site who does explants/capsule removal. I will let you know what I find out! I want to 100% heal as well, but am a little nervous about a more invasive surgery and anesthetic, as well as the outcome (hoping not to have any deformities from the removal of the capsule/tissue).
June 25, 2016
PSwolfie: I wrote an email to Dr. Melmed to ask more about the capsule, here was his reply. He is one of the leading doctors in the US I believe who believes implants are toxic and is an advocate of removal.

"There is tremendous hysteria on the internet about capsules
Capsules form around ALL foreign material including pacemakers, testicular implants ( how many men are toxic?!) orthopedic plates, sutures to name a few.
I have searched the literature and have yet to find any scientific backing for "toxicity"
They can cause cysts ( very rare) lumps etc. but the majority dissipate within a year: the stimulus is removed so the reaction abates"

Interesting! Since I am going with Dr. Feng, she removes them and I never want to second guess myself anyway, besides I can't afford to have a second surgery. Dr. Melmed is a highly respected doctor, so trust your instincts. Good luck with your explant, I am on the countdown..Friday is my day!
July 11, 2016
Wow, right around the corner!! Good luck! I decided to go with Dr Jae Chun and he removes the capsule as well. I agree, this feels like the right decision.
July 17, 2016
When is your surgery date? Your doing the right thing , glad your getting the capsule out. Who needs to wonder what happened to the capsule. Well wishes!
July 17, 2016
Exactly, and thank you!! Explant date is 7/29!
July 18, 2016
So happy for you that you are on your way!!
June 22, 2016
I am experiencing many issues as well, I will be explanting in three weeks! I hope my symptoms improve!
June 23, 2016
Good luck to you! I am explanting in 5 weeks and I am looking forward to better health as well!

I am getting the capsules out. If you are concerned about health issues, have them out...toxins can remain in them and you will not heal properly.
June 24, 2016
Thank you for the reply! I actually ended up having a phone consultation with Dr. Ed Melmed (one of the leading surgeons who believe implants are toxic) and he said to leave the capsule in actually in my case! I'm going to update my profile soon with the information he gave me in case it helps others too! He was amazing!

You may want to research more on en bloc. My last surgeon just operated on 3 of his patients because they could not well. Capsules should be sent to pathology. They are holding all the toxins & biofilm
June 24, 2016
I plan to go to him for bft after my recent Explant heals. Do you have silicone or saline? I heard he doesn't do bft with Explant if women have silicone or if they are terribly ill....I am already explanted. Wish I would have known. Thanks
