Hey guys so I am booked for surgery on June 12th....
$5,764
Hey guys so I am booked for surgery on June 12th. I will be travelling by myself from London so I'm super nervous. I've been taking iron and vitamin c so far as advised by the surgical coordinator and am awaiting my results from my blood tests. The team from miaasestics have been so responsive and supportive so far. First I had Karla and now I have Nina. Does anyone know if you have to have a medical clearance letter from your primary GP cos i've been asked to provide one but my GP doesn't seem very encouraging or supportive about my choice to do this commenting on how expensive it must be and if I want a letter I'll have to go private. Like wth?? I have no bad medical history and what does going private have to do with anything? He made me feel so distressed like I was making a shameful life choice. And now I'm scared that his attitude is gonna cause complications. Had anyone gone ahead with surgery and not had to provide a letter? Hopefully I will be going ahead with Assistance4life recovery house but will be arriving 2days prior to surgery so will pay the extra. Does anyone know how far this is from the airport or best way to get there? Any other reccomendations from you guys would be great. I mean I'm super excited I've been thinking about this for years and I wanna finally feel confident with my body at summertime. But being by myself I'm also super scared that I'm gonna forget something or not bring enough money cos I'm only have an extra 500 for unexpected costs. Any particular advice ladies? I will most definately be sharing my journey cos I'm sure we all have similar nerves and would be great if we supported each other! Saf

Your doctor is being an ass, he is fully capable of giving you a clearance letter. He should not be giving you a hard time. I love how they assume you don't know anything, or not capable of making an informed decision. I don't know where else you can get a letter. There was another girl here who mentioned Mia sent her to one of their doctors for clearance. , ask Mia, who did your labs? I'll be following!!!
Since you're coming 2 days before your surgery, MIA can provide you with a clearance letter from one of the doctors the day before surgery. It's $125 cash, just ask your coordinator about it. Also, are you 40 or older? That's the only reason you need one. Another option is to call your coordinator and they'll provide you with a local walk in clinic number for the letter. It's $125 as well. I think the clearance letter is the most stressful part of the ordeal. I'm also staying with Assistance for life a week before you. Sending positive vibes your way.
I'm 35 but thanks I may need to use a Miami walk in dr :)
My dr. cleared me. =) I am just counting down now.

Oh wow so we are two days apart have you booked ur recovery house yet? What have the the team said 're your clearance letter, I was hoping they could just rely on my labs and medical history. My dctr was so unhelpful I felt embarrassed! I know they provide compression socks do you know what other must haves I need before I fly out? And thanks so much for replying
