I choose Dowbak at New Life Cosmetics in Miami because her work is beautiful. I paid a deposit of $500.00 Currently, I am searching Realself and Instagram to determine what all I should purchase for the surgery. The consultant at New Life isn't helpful with questions. Items I am thinking of buying: Booty pillow, stage 2 faja (after surgery when I determine what size I need), itch cream, Benadryl, clothes to bleed in, plastic shower curtain to line bed and car PLUS the pills for surgury

Buy some dog pads to protect the bed and a laxative for after surgery. You don’t need many more supplies.

Woo hoo! 2 week countdown!! Are you staying at a recovery house or hotel? Are you cleared for surgery?

I am staying at home. I live in South Florida. I haven’t been cleared yet. I booked my surgery for 2 weeks from now and haven’t gotten my labs done yet. Today I will call around to see where I can get an apt today. Also, those labs are expensive! $40-$80 each. So I’m going to schedule a yearly checkup and add the labs so my insurance can pay for them (if time permits)

Good you live there, saves alot of money on hotel/rh/uber/airfare. Hopefully you can get an appt, if not try walkinlab(dotcom) or the Fastcare urgent care clinic for a medical clearance. Two weeks isn’t a lot of time, hopefully your hemo is good. Do you have to do an EKG test? Does your personal doctor have to sign a form clearing you for surgery?

I guess its more urgent for us out of towners to get cleared because we have airplane tickets at stake if we aren’t cleared. I do labs 30 days before surgery so I can take iron pills if my hemo is low.

You really helped me. I used Quest Diagnostic walk in lab clinic in Pompano Beach FL. It took 5 Min and they called me to the back. Took my info and lab request papers then drew my blood. It will take 2-3 business days to receive the lab work. Now I just need to do an EKG somewhere.

I’ll check it out! Thanks! And no, my personal doctor doesn’t have to sign off since I’m local. The paperwork says that if you’re flying from out of town, the personal doctor has to sign off. The customer service is OK. Not good but not terrible. It takes on avg of 2 attempts to reach an actual person. The first time you call it may go to voicemail. After leaving a voicemail they call back in 1-2 days! So I call until a person answers the phone. My consultant was vague. I asked her recommendations about where to do the lab and ekg and she didn’t have any. I guess she doesn’t want to be liable. But you were a big a help AAM. Also, they mixed up my doctor. I discussed 2 doctores Llórente and Dowbak. I choose Dowbak but The consultant got confused and started booking me with Llorent. After being confused on why my doctor was all of a sudden booked on the surgery day I reserved with my deposit, I discovered Tania mixed up my doctor. We got that fixed right away tho. It was a 3 Min conversation. 2 days later I spoke to Raquel, the person that takes over after you pay the deposit and book date. She send the contract and blood work needed. She didn’t send over a prescription so The urgent care couldn’t use the documents she sent. I had to call her multiple times fo get the documents needed for ekg and labs. She responded quickly and gave me the info. I just wish she gave me everything needed on the first try.
