Hello! Over the past year I've lost 180 pounds over half my body weight thanks to hard work and bariatric surgery. As a result of my weight loss my upper body has taken a serious hit. I'm having an extended arm lift, and breast lift with implant in about 3 weeks! I'm beyond excited, but nervous too. I can't wait to wear a sleeveless top and not worry about my saggy arms. Any suggestions from those who have had surgery on what to buy? How was your recovery? I've taken 2 weeks off work and will have help at home, no kiddos yet, just two kitty cats that will need some love. I'll post some before photos here soon. This site has been so helpful already, and I can't wait to share my journey with you all!

I had my pre-op appointment today, just two weeks until surgery!

I'm having a arm lift, and breast lift with implants. Today the surgeon took before photos and checked me over a bit. He also answered all my questions and really put me as ease. Then the fun part, nurse brought out the sizers and I got play dress up. My doctor doesn't discuss cc measurements until after surgery. They got my body measurements, my wants and what feels comfortable on me. I took in a 34 D bra I love and would like to "fill" out. The nurse loved that and helped me to pick the best look. I took a few different outfits with me to see how they looked in various styles, especially work clothes since I'm in an office most of the time. I felt really comfortable and happy with the size I've picked. The nurse did say, they will probably end up being a little smaller since I am going under the muscle and most of my original breast tissue will be removed with the lift. I'm totally ok with that, I don't want them to big since I'm an active person and don't want my breasts to make me look bigger than I am.

After the appointment I went to get my compression garment, which felt really comfortable and good thing too since I'll be wearing it after surgery for 3 weeks!

I'm so excited! A little nervous about the arm lift and the scars, just hoping I heal fast!

Congratulations to you!! Massive weight loss is a great accomplishment...I have done it myself and yes, the downside is being left with what I call the "melting wax body". But there is hope in the hands of a great plastic surgeon. I have found that plastic surgery will never quite make you as perfect as nature could have had you never been morbidly obese. Having been there myself, I understand the difference between someone who has a little loose skin and someone who has stretched their skin beyond its limit. But who expects to be posing for [RS bleep] afterwards? : ) I have always found the recovery following surgery to be fine; don't expect yourself to be Wonderwoman...the most important thing is to remember you don't want to put any stress on your incisions until they have had time to close and begin to heal! This becomes more of a challenge if you have any lower body work. With upper body work just be careful with reaching, lifting, raising your arms to dress...things like that. Follow your surgeon's instructions to the letter. You are likely paying him a nice sum of money for his expertise, so do what he tell you to do!! Don't panic about how your incision lines/scars look. In time they truly do fade away. As long as you are REALISTIC in your expectations, you will be happy with the outcome; if you have an unlimited budget, you can tweak your surgery to get exactly what you are hoping for over time. Just remember that with a massive weight loss your surgeon has a lot of excess skin to deal with and perfection may not be achieved with one surgery. He will do absolutely the best he can but there may be a lot going on, depending on particular body structure. At any rate, you will definitely love being rid of lose hanging skin and feel more confident with your new body!! Good luck! Your day is just around the corner!!! It is a snap!!!

@can'tbelieveit - thank you so much for your advice and support. I trust my surgeon and his team and know I won't be "perfect" but the result will be a full circle for me and I'm so excited to see the physical changes. When I look in the mirror I still see the 300+ pound girl, and maybe I always will but I'm excited to see what this next step does for me. I'll be taking it easy for as long as I need to, want to make sure I heal well and don't push it. Just 10 days to go!!

Hi! All went well. I'm home now, not in pain just uncomfortable and stiff. Taking my pain meds as directed. I did have a full arm lift yes. I'll post pics when I get them. I'm still wrapped up and can't see. I'm so excited to see how they look!
