26 Year Old Mummy of 1 Finally Getting my Breast Augmentation!! - Miami, FL

ORIGINAL POST

So I've been trying to get my breast augmentation...

JenJen8199
WORTH IT$3,000
So I've been trying to get my breast augmentation for years now! It is finally becoming a reality. I scheduled my consultation with Dr. Mel Ortega. I live in Chicago and my plan is to fly in on April 24th for my consultation and if all goes well at the consultation, I would like to have my surgery 2-4 weeks after depending on how soon I get a surgery date!! I am already very nervous but so far I've heard nothing but great things about Dr. Ortega and from what I've seen, I love his work!!

Just a few questions for those who have previously experienced him. I'm planning on 450cc silicone under muscle.... going in under the armpit. (Yes I already know what I want :))

**His fee of $3,000 what does it include? Just his fee? Or does it include the implants, anesthesia, medication etc???

**How much of a deposit will I be required to put down in order to schedule my surgery?

**How long will I have to stay in Miami before I can fly back to Chicago???

PLEASE HELPPPPPP :)

I'm currently planning to get surgery with Ortega as well. My coordinator told me to put down a $200 deposit to lock the price even though I haven't selected a date yet. She said the deposit is good for a year. Also I was told that the $3000 is all inclusive. All fees are covered.... Not medication though. I was also told I would need to be there for 5 days. Liz told me that I should fly in on Monday. Have pre op on Monday. Surgery Tuesday and follow up on Friday. Hope that helps.
March 11, 2015
That is strange, Liz is my coordinator. She said I needed $300 down minimum for Dr. Omulepu, and $500 for Mel Ortega. I want Dr. Ortega to do my BA. It is very frustrating to hear different answers. The 3000 is everything included.

Hi ..I am having surgery too with Dr Ortega on May 1st. I am flying in April 30th and surgery the next day. Paying 500$ locks your date and you have to pay all balance by two weeks before surgery date. The price includes everything including garment but not medication. You have to have someone there with you else they will not go thro with your surgery. You cannot drive yourself back so I hope you have someone with you..you did not want to consult and surgery one trip or you are still in the deciding phase which Dr you want to choose?
March 11, 2015
Wow probably not a huge deal but Liz told me 1 week prior to procedure???
March 11, 2015
If you have surgery Friday, when is your follow up? I live out of town as well.
March 11, 2015
Wow really ? Yes she definitely told me that I would need to put down $200 by Friday to "lock the special price". I felt like that whole special price thing was bs though. Lol. She told me that the price of $3000 was a special ending next week but I went with it becus I really want Ortega to do my surgery and $200 wasn't that much of a deposit.
March 11, 2015
I already decided on Ortega. Myself and my friends are going to Miami on April 22nd for vacation so I decided to do an in person consultation instead of a virtual consultation. That's why I am planning on returning about a week or 2 after our vacation to do the actual surgery.
March 11, 2015
Yea she also told me in (Feb) to pay my $200 before March cause the special offers will expire as of the 1st!!! And I too want Ortega to do my surgery.

My surgery was late Friday. I was supposed to go back in on Saturday and Monday, but they fell behind on Friday and did one or two surgeries on Saturday that where scheduled for Friday. So my single follow up, I went in on Monday morning with plenty of time to catch my plane home that afternoon. I got to spend time vacationing in Miami on both Friday before and Saturday after my procedure. I am not saying you should do that, but really for me the exercise made me feel better and other than using my arms, I felt really good by the morning after. So I flew in on Thursday... I got my meds prescribed by my doctor at home, so I did not have to deal with that in Miami. If you are getting your meds in Florida (they can't send the prescription to you,it must be hand written) then go early enough so that is not a hassle. And I left on Monday afternoon. I really did not have much trouble at all!

Dr otega requires 500 dep to hold the special price. He requires 1000 dep to get surgery date, amd the 3000 includes everything. Implants, anesthesia, surgical bra, blood work and the surgery.
March 11, 2015
Jen the prices are cheap because all their procedures are done there in the offive, so that takes the hospital fee, stay fee:-) and as for these deposits I have been told so many different things its frustrating.
March 11, 2015
I meant that their is no hospital fee*
March 11, 2015
Is it safe to do it in their office?? Do you know if I would have the option of having it done in the hospital??
March 11, 2015
From all the reviews I have read and pictures, it seems it is. I have yet to see any horrifying work so far. He has over 25 yrs of exp.
March 11, 2015
Okay!! Thank you.... I guess I'll feel better after my consultation.... Then I'll be able to feel the place out :) I'm looking to have mine done in early May!! Do you live in Miami? If not, where will you be staying and for how long? I'm trying to find a good deal on somewhere to stay for about 7-10 days!!

I am staying at Wishes hotel. I found them on expedia.com I also watched a video that a girl made from the hotel. It is nice clean and very affordable. I am paying 99 a night and im staying 5 days. I would call the hotel to see if they have anything for the times you will be there. Their # 305-445-5453. I am from florida but I am driving about 5 hrs to miami.
March 11, 2015
okay thank you!
March 11, 2015
The PS I had a consultation with in RI does not use a hospital either but his prices are more than double Dr. Ortega....

I'm getting a TT and BA.. Lipo
March 11, 2015
Does anyone know why his prices are so cheap??? Right now that is my only concern!! How can they be in business charging such a cheap price?
March 11, 2015
Yes... That is one of my concerns also...
March 12, 2015
What are your thoughts on why he's so cheap? It's unbelievable, I feel like it's just too good to be true!
March 19, 2015
Well in Miami a lot of doctors are cheaper than up here. I live in nj and I ragher fly to Miami for 3000 than here for 7000. My friend paid 4000 in Miami.
March 21, 2015
I completely agree. My only question is about the consultation and then the check up after the procedure? Can we skype with him for the initial appointment and then just fly down for the date of surgery? And then suppose we fly home after 4 days.. What doctor gives us a check up?
User Avatar
March 21, 2015
I have to go back to miami in a month for my checkup. I am sure that dr Ortega will do email if you are unable to go back.

None.... You will be like everyone and be totally impressed with him when you meet him shortly before going under for surgery and for your single follow up. Yes I suppose if you have a problem, you are going to regret this... but what I do is look at the reviews. I reverse them so I see the worst first. What you will see is that he is not doing 20 kinds of operations, he is doing two. He doesn't have 20 reviews, he has 130, and when you read the bad ones - he has them like everyone, but they disappear quickly and then all you see are good ones. In Indiana the doctors had about 20 or 25 reviews and they where doing every kind of surgery under the sun, so really they only had a couple I could look at for breast augmentation. If I could not have had doctor Ortega, I did not have a back up. I assumed that I would have to pay $7000 for someone, someplace else if not him. I did not need a follow up. If you have a problem, he does have a guarantee. He does his work over for free, though you have to pay the clinic fee. But I didn't see anybody saying they needed a revision in the reviews I read and I read everyone that was not a four or 5 star. I don't want to say that this is not a serious surgery, but I was out all day the day after. I was seriously hula hooping two weeks later, a month later I was at the gym, 85% back to full strength I would guess. The stitches dissolve on their own. If you have a serious problem there are always other doctors locally. If it requires another surgery, what is your $7000 surgeon going to do differently? Bottom line is we all have to decide our comfort level I guess.

Doll face. I'm also in New Jersey. Any recommendations?
March 11, 2015
Are you able to have consultations thrpugh Skype or do you have to fly down there twice? I am interested in also seeing Dr. Ortega but I live in RI.

I did my consult by email. I emailed all my info and pics and the doctor told me what I needed.
March 13, 2015
How long did it take before he told you what you needed? It's been a over a week since I paid my deposit and booked my date and I haven't heard anything.
March 13, 2015
Tallslimbeauty77 How much was your total price and how much was your deposit?

The coordinators can suck. If it has been a week, call the main phone number and tell them you have sent in your stuff and heard nothing. This is the savings part. This is the one area they don't deserve 5 stars. I think the only area.

Here is what really happens I think. You send your photos down, he does look at them I guess, but really, when I met him, he said, "You have chosen silicone under the muscle, good choice." I said, you chose that, not me. He and his assistant rolled their eyes, he said, I did not make that choice, but I agree. So really I think Vivian did it. She also charged me $500 more for being transgender. I wished I had asked him about that... oh well a great deal and a great doctor, that is why I was there and I totally... totally do not regret any of it. So here is how I went into it and it worked better than I expected. I expected that I would get about 10 minutes to talk to him right before I went into the operating room. I expected that it would be hectic and he would want to put some big breasts on me. I figured I would have a few minutes to have my effect on the situation and I would get something beautiful, but it might be more his idea than mine. I was going to be ok with that. It turned out much better. Though they were overbooked and even had to reschedule two for Saturday (the next morning) when Dr. Ortega came in the room it was with good humor and so relaxed and friendly, it was one of the best human interactions of my life. I would say I have never wanted to be friends with another person so quickly ever. Anyway, he listened to every word I said. I had written down all my questions so I would not forget them and he not only answered every question, but went on in conversation style beyond me being satisfied with his answer. At both the pre op and post op meeting I found myself rushing him, as I thought, you have other stuff to do, you don't have this much time to talk to me. Their office closes at 5:30. I had been told that they stay there until 6"30. I was rolled out at 8 or 8:30. Everyone was still so kind and nice. This is not to disagree with all the electronic communication issues, but to say in person, it was great! Anyway it is not like me to take things so serious so lightly, but for some reason (the reviews here) I trusted that this was going to work out and I just went with the flow. I guess the short answer is you and Dr. Ortega will work this out right before you go under and you too will be one of us, saying what a great man, what a great surgeon. Those who loose faith and jump for another... Well the office is busy.... that is ok for everyone and everyone's comfort level.

Where you get the 3d imaging done?
March 25, 2015
I got it done at my first consultation here in Chicago :)
March 25, 2015
This is a question for Dr. Ortega girls..... I have read many complaints about one of the coordinators not getting back to people and patients getting very frustrated with her. I will be doing this from RI and I do NOT want to deal with someone who doesn't respond in a timely manner... Can anyone tell me which coordinator to request?? Thank you!!!
March 25, 2015
My coordinator is Vivian. She isnt really good with responding to texts or emails that well. But almost every time I call she answers. I'm coming from Chicago so I understand where you're coming from!!! When are you planning on having your procedure?
User Avatar
March 25, 2015
I had Vivian and she was ok. If I couldn't get her to respond I would just call the office and say that I couldn't get her to respond and I would then get a response.
March 26, 2015
Yeah I found that the best way to reach her is by phone. :) what kinda pre operative work did you have to get done? Blood work, ekg etc??
User Avatar
March 26, 2015
I only had to get blood work. It depends on your past medical history.
March 26, 2015
okay! Thank you :) what prescriptions did you take after you BA? did you pay cash for or them?

I stayed at wishes hotel. It is less than a mile away from the office and it is very nice and clean. The staff are great. I originally paid 99 a night with expedia but they screwed up my reservation. When i finally paid with the hotel i got it for 89 a night. I would call the hotel directly.

I paid $1000 for three nights at the hotel right behind the surgery center. If you look at google maps and then set the search for hotels, there is a little local motel just about a block further from my best western. I'll bet it is cheap, but really the neigborhood is find. I walked around a lot in the area. i wouldn't be afraid to use it. Actually I did a lot of getting familiar with the neighborhood on google street level maps. I knew where everything was before I got there.

Oops... I actually stayed 4 nights. Still it was a lot of $$$ luckily I had frequent flyer miles to pay for it. You have already booked a flight for your cousin. Otherwise, the post op care places are a really good deal. They provide all your transportation, support and meal for less than I paid for the hotel. If you are staying for a week, you are going to feel great before you go home. Better be ready to vacation! By the third day I was totally off pain meds. Actually I only took one pill the third day.
