Don't Do It, Reconsider!!

Please! Please! Please don't go to this facility or any of its doctors for surgery.. in my personal experience one thing after another. Not to mention that a woman died at the hands of another doctor (Dr. Valls) at this facility on the same day that I had my surgery. (More on that later) I previously mentioned the hassle that I endured with Jolie concerning my 'faja' garment in my original review. I wake up from my surgery with my garment on.. so again for like the 4th time I thought the issue had been resolved, only to get an email from the refund department pertaining to the $1500 difference that was due back to me because Dr. Fisher DID NOT perform the intended surgery in full. The email showed a refund for only $1380 because they took upon themselves to take $120 out for the garment; the AUDACITY!! I never authorized nor was this discussed with me.. as I left it before I agreed to go into surgery was that the OR manager would make sure that I received a garment even if it was at her expense. So, imagine my angst at seeing this..I spent 20-25 minutes going back and forth with the refund manager, Magaly.. until I was granted my full refund of $1500. I literally had to threaten to get my attorney involved before they finally agreed to give me my money back..I made sure to get it in writing before hanging up. I filled out the paperwork and submitted it back before even leaving Miami.. now I'm awaiting my check in the mail. Now back to the young lady who succumbed; when I came in for my post-op on December 15, 2017, the young lady's family was at the clinic trying to get a refund. It was unclear what had happened.. they were saying that she had flatlined, but I thought that they were able to revive her because the family didn't seem distraught with grief but moreso upset that they weren't receiving a refund. It wasn't until a few days later when I went to get my drained removed that I learned that the young lady had died. I was told this by another patient there (who was actually there to have surgery performed by none other than Dr. Valls to my disbelief). When she saw the look of bewilderment on my face she said that the woman who died went into cardiac arrest because she was sneaking and drinking water during the timeframe that she was supposed to be fasting.. not sure how true this is. This lady's surgery was supposed to be the same day as the lady who died but was cancelled and rescheduled to December 18th. (There was another lady there for surgery with Dr. Valls who had to be rescheduled as well.) Dr. Hasan has a body on him as well; Dr. Fisher, to my knowledge doesn't have any deaths on his record but I still wouldn't suggest that you see him. I found out after the fact that this clinic has went through 3 names within the last couple years..Vanity/Eres/Jolie. Not sure if the ownership is still the same but the guy who owned it under the names Vanity and Eres has been under investigation.. if you Google this incident with the lady that recently died.. you'll get more information.. it was on the local Miami news. I'm 8 days post-op, so I'm still waiting to see my results.. holding out hope that despite my very unpleasant experience that I'm satisfied with my results. So far, so good..I've finished my antibiotics, I'm still very tender and sore. I had 3 lymphatic massages whilst in Miami and was told to wait a week before resuming at least 5 more massages.

I am very disappointed with my experience with not only Jolie Plastic Surgery/Soma Surgery center staff but Dr. Fisher as well. It's quite disparaging because I had such high hopes and good feelings about him and his performing of my surgery. Unbeknownst to me, the day of my surgery Dr. Fisher was being chronicled by film for his work on two woman by some Latin American film company. And in my opinion, his enthusiasm to film is why he in part wouldn't greenlight my original intended surgical procedure of a BBL. (More on that in a second). I had been toiling with the idea of getting a BBL for some time but wasn't sure if I was a viable candidate because I am very active in the gym and exercise routinely. Thereby leaving me with very little fat on my body.. but I do have some stubborn fat in my lower abdominals and flank regions. I knew a young lady who had gotten the BBL procedure done in LA with Dr. Dennis Dass and while researching him and possible doctors on here that were a bit closer to me (being that I live in Texas), I came across considerably rave reviews on Dr. Fisher by a few young ladies that had also considered Dr. Dass. I saw that Fisher's work was very natural (which is what I was going for), plus he was a lot more cost effective and a much shorter travel distance for me. So, I filled out the consultation link and submitted it. I can't recall if it was the same day or the next, that I was contacted by Yesenia Ramos to discuss a consultation and prices. I voiced my concerns and was asked to submit pictures which I obliged in doing so. After receiving the photos, Yesenia called me back and said that Dr. Fisher said that I was a candidate for the surgery.. she then proceeded to discuss possible dates and pricing with me. The original date that I wanted wasn't available for whatever reason and she then started to negotiate dates with me. We ultimately agreed upon a date and then I asked her how much the deposit would be, which is when she told me that due to the proximity of the date (it was October 2017 at the time and I was looking to do surgery in December) Dr. Fisher was not accepting deposits but only a full payment of $6500 to lock in the date. Upon receiving this information I told her that I would like some time to think more on it; I was apprenhensive about paying that much money upfront when anything could come up. We hung up and she then calls me back about 10 minutes later, saying that if I paid that same day Dr. Fisher would knock off $1000 and do it for $5500. That basicallly sold me, especially because the other doctors that I had researched wanted $10000 or more. I knew that I would be incurring even more expense by having to travel. Being that supposedly the offer was only valid only if I paid in full the same day, I deposited $5500 cash into the company bank account at B.O.A. and was scheduled for a BBL. After payment was recived I was sent a cancellation penalty sheet authorization form to sign, basically stating that regardless of the reasoning I would be charged a fee for cancelling the surgery. How much they would charge ranged, based on the timeframe and reason for cancellation. (Beware, even if you or the doctor cancel for medical reasons there is a fee.) Once that was signed and sent back, I was then contacted by Yisel Rodriguez, Dr. Fisher's assistant, who emailed me the patient portal which contained a medical questionnaire. So, this is where we come to where my problems first began..on the medical questionnaire it asks if you've ever received any butt injections. In the spirit of being completely forthright and transparent, I disclosed that I had in fact had a poly-L lactic acid filler-- Sculptra, which is an FDA approved collagen inducing filler that is used both in the face and buttocks, it is both gradually and naturally absorbed into the body after 3 months (and commonly found in dissolvable stitches) injected back at the beginning of July 2017 at a med spa by a board certified dermatologist. (Now, the only reason that I got the injections is because as I stated earlier I don't have a lot of fat on my body and didn't think I was a candidate for the BBL procedure so I explored an alternative option). With Sculptra injections you have to receive several rounds of injections over a period of time (usually every 6 weeks), depending on your desired goals. I only forewent one round of treatment, because when I was due for my second round of injections something came up and I wasn't able to attend my appointment. Well after that is when I decided to start researching Dr. Dass and more on my viability of getting the procedure. Especially, because the injections are NOT permanent and after you reach your initial desired results, a year or so later you have to continuously go for touch-ups to maintain the look. And injections are not cheap by far. I personally paid $500 a vial (each vial is a syringe), which amounted to $2000 for just one round..2 vials in each cheek. So, again once I fold out that I could receive a BBL I jumped at the opportunity to not only have a more permanent solution but at a much lower cost than having to maintain Sculptra treatments. When I submitted the medical questionnaire, Yisel contacts me stating that Dr. Fisher wasn't willing to perform the BBL portion of the surgery on me because of the injections.. she tried to tell me that Sculptra was a gel/ foreign substance that could cause complications. I told her that Scultpra was not a gel or foreign substance and that it was basically a collagen inducing natural filler. At that point, she stated that she was unsure and would need to contact the doctor who performed the injections as well as get my medical records from them. I fully complied and provided her with the information and paperwork she requested. She then comes back and says that although, the filler was in fact natural and not foreign that Dr. Fisher wanted to wait 2 years to do the full BBL because that's when he'd be more comfortable, but he was still willing to perform liposculpture on me. At the thought of having to wait 2 years, I was thoroughly displeased and turned off by this news: A. I knew that if I went ahead and just had the Lipo I wouldn't have enough fat to do a BBL after that (because my weight only changes by 5lbs when I'm menstruating other than that I'm a solid 135lbs with a 5'5 stature). B. I really felt like it was B.S. because I even received a medical clearance letter from the doctor stating that by this time the Sculptra had been fully absorbed and there shouldn't be any reason why I couldn't have the BBL surgery. So, I decided to just cancel the surgery, I was transferred to the refund department who tried to charge me a $400 cancellation..much to my contention, I argued that I was only cancelling because the doctor was not willing to do the full procedure because of a previous medical treatment. Therefore, if they weren't willing to give me a full refund I would only be satisfied with the least nominal penalty fee of $250 for a medical reason cancellation. They fully agreed upon that and was willing to refund $5250 of my of payment but it would take up to 1-2 months I believe for me to receive a check. (So-called company policy. Total bull!!) So, irritated and in disbelief I contacted the original person I spoke with to begin this journey, Yesenia, to see if there was something she could do about the whole predicament. Upon, speaking to her she was like "Why didn't you tell me about the injections..I would've told you not to mention anything about them because I know a couple people who've had them and still was able to undergo the BBL procedure with Dr. Fisher. They're like water shots." #herwordsexactly I told her that I didn't think to tell her in the beginning because it had truly slipped my mind..I honestly didn't even think about it or consider it to be an issue until I was filling out the medical questionnaire that it donned on me. Anyways, Yesenia managed to assuage my temperament and get me to reconsider just having the Lipo.. she said that Dr. Fisher was really good at sculpting your body and shape where there could be an illusion of a bigger/fuller buttocks. (Sidenote- my quest to have a BBL was never to have a super big butt, I already have hips and a nice shape and size..I just really wanted a bit more projection and fill in the hollow, concave sides of my butt..basically to fill and round it out.) I then inquired about how much it would be just for the Lipo and was told that he usually charged $4500 but he'd do it for $4000 because of the dilemma and that I would be refunded the remaining $1500 back for not doing the BBL. She also presented the option to me of staying on schedule with the Lipo and waiting to talk to Dr. Fisher in person to let him physically examine me and my butt to see if he might reconsider his stance on things. She said that he had changed his mind before with another patient with a similar case. That possibility really made me feel more at ease, plus I saw it as a win-win situation because I did have stubborn fat that I wanted to remove and I wouldn't have to pay a penalty fee for completely cancelling. I agreed to proceeding along with the Lipo in hopes of Dr. Fisher's reconsideration. So, we're back on track to have surgery and moving right along.. now let me tell you guys about another difficulty that I ended up having once I got to Miami. Before I paid for my surgery, I asked about what all was included in the price..Yesenia told me that the price covered the surgery, anesthesia and lab work testing. At that time, I specifically informed her that I wasn't planning on nor could I travel to Miami earlier than the day before my surgery so that might pose a potential problem with having my lab work in the required advancement of surgery. So, she told me that I could have the lab work done where I live and submit it to them and in doing so, she would offset the cost of me having to pay additional money for lab work by providing me with the $120 'faja' garment required after surgery. This was verbally expressed to me on multiple occasions. I also relayed this agreement to Yisel, Dr. Fisher's assistant, days before arriving in Miami when she asked me if I would be purchasing the garment from them. When I told Yisel about it she said that there was no mention of it in my file but that she would get with Yesenia about it. I never heard anything else about so I took that to mean that everything was worked out. I arrive in Miami yesterday, December 13, 2017 for my pre-op appointment..I fill out all the paperwork, they fit me for the 'faja' and inquire about if I would be receiving my lymphatic massages directly from them to release excess fluid. I told them that I would be getting massages with them, so then the young lady (Ivana) who was helping me goes on to say well let me get you the price for the 'faja' and 3 massages. I was like wait the 'faja' is supposed to be included for me and I tell her why.. she then says nooooooo, we never give the garments away let me contact Yesenia about it. I also take it upon myself to text Yesenia. She never responds to me and they claim to not be able to get her on the line. Now, mind you be prior to my arrival in Miami for surgery whenever I texted Yesenia she always responded back within a matter of minutes, she even called me a few times to answer my questions. Ivana, then says she's going to contact Yesenia's manager to see what to do because she couldn't just give me the garment without confirmation. All this is transpiring as I'm filling out my pre-op paperwork, which took about 20 minutes for me because I thoroughly read everything before I sign my life away, upon completion and review of my file with the pre-op coordinator there was still no word from Yesenia on their or my end. Ivana tells me that they'll work it out and it should be handled in the morning by the time of my surgery. Morning of my surgery, today, December 14, 2017, I'm scheduled to be Dr. Fisher's first patient and had to be at the surgery center for 515am. Get to the surgery center at 505am.. there are no lights on and it doesn't appear to even be open..there was another group of people in a taxi who had arrived as well and were looking just as perplexed as I. I was about to call and find out what was going on, when my friend who was accompanying me decided to go and see if the door was open and sure enough it was. We go in.. no one is at the front desk or anywhere in sight. My friend goes through the lobby door into the back to find someone, he returns a couple minutes later and says that he found someone and they said that they'd be up shortly. He then proceeds to turn on the lights in the front and TV, so now it would appear that they were open to whomever came after us. A young lady then comes up to the desk, doesn't greet or say anything to those of us in the lobby area, fiddles with some papers and returns to the back. (She actually came up twice.) A little after that a different lady comes up and calls my name to come back.. she verifies my information to make sure it's me. She then takes me into Pre-Op room 1.. has me change into the surgery attire, goes over my file again to make sure I signed everything, and asks about my 'faja'.. I'm like WTF, I was under the impression that that situation would have been worked out by now..again I tell her what I was told by Yesenia. She then says that nothing appears to have been worked out because no documentation was on file but don't worry she'll find out what's going on. She gives me a cup to collect urine to test for pregnancy and drugs, shows me to the restroom.. we pass Dr. Fisher in the hallway punching in his phone.. he looks up briefly speaks and then resumes his text. (Mind you be this is my first time seeing him.) The lady shows me back to my pre-op room, she takes some pictures and gives me the results of my tests. As she's leaving Dr. Fisher walks in.. sits down, introduces himself, shakes my hand then asks me where I'm coming from. I answer and before we can proceed any further his phone rings and he excuses himself; he's gone about 10 minutes. He comes back in and tells me that he has a film crew from Latin America coming to film him but not to worry, that they wouldn't be filming me. (Which wasn't any issue to me because I did not sign any consent form granting that..I wasn't interested in my image being taken and used for anything other than my file.) He begins to ask me medical questions as he's reviewing my file..then we get to the most important concern for me.. whether or not he will move forth with the BBL on me. And here lies where my issue comes with him, he first states that I received the injections a month ago..I quickly corrected him that it was 5 months ago. He looks at my file and was like, "Oh yeah, 5 months ago." He then goes on to tell me that he's familiar with Sculptra and that it shouldn't be an issue but that I was only scheduled for Lipo.. and I was like, "No, I was told that the final procedure would be decided upon once I was seen by him. And that I was paid in full for the possible BBL." He looked down at the paperwork and then said, "Okay, let me get someone and I'll be right back." About a minute or so later, he comes back in with a different young lady than who initially brought me back and says, "Well, I know I initially told you to wait 2 years but I'm willing to perform the BBL on you in one year.. because the injections could've caused inflammation or formed scar tissue. (Again another case of what I deem bull..I'm no doctor but I have had another filler injected into my face for wrinkles Dysport/Botox.. and yes, every filler is different but I've never known a filler to cause scar tissue to form.. inflammation maybe, but to be inflamed 5 months later!! C'mon now!! Plus, my dermatologist made no mention of anything of that nature possibly being a hindrance..and I'm more than positive that if either of those things were a issue..he would've told me and wouldn't have given me a medical clearance for the surgery.) I was clearly annoyed because I felt he was totally with the flimflam and it was pretty apparent on my face how irritated I was so he says, "Well, no one is making you have the surgery. You can either reschedule the surgery in 6 months for the BBL or proceed with the Lipo." At this point, I'm totally and utterly put off by his flippantness and bedside manner and I really don't want to go through with any form of the surgery.. not today, not 6 months from now, not ever. So, I say to him.. if I do the Lipo today I will not have anything to friggin harvest for a BBL in 6 months.. and rescheduling was not an option after I've paid for a flight and hotel for this date.. as well as paid for lab work that wouldn't be viable in 6 months. He just looked at me like well, so I said I'm not interested in rescheduling and if I cancel will I get a full refund. He states, you should but I'm not sure I can have her (the young lady also in the room, whom said nothing during this exchange) check..so then there's a deafening silence before he asks if I want a minute to think about it. I tell him yes, give me a moment to weigh my options. I call my friend waiting in the lobby and pick his brain about what to do. He asked me which procedure was more important to me..I told him that I really wanted the BBL but that I wasn't willing to wait 6 months or incur any more expense. I gave some more thought to his question. I remained torn after hanging up with him and my emotions were running the gamut from A to Z. The girl comes back in and tells me that because I signed the cancellation waiver that I wouldn't receive a full refund.. which I already knew. I then decided that despite my treatment and extreme disappointment that I didn't want to lose not one iota of my money and that I was already here and damn near fully prepped for surgery and once again I did have stubborn fat that I wanted to get rid of. In the end, I agreed to go ahead with the Lipo and just get my $1500 refund. So, Dr. Fisher comes back in takes more pictures and marks me up for surgery and as he's doing so he says, even if he would've agreed to the BBL that I didn't have enough fat and he would've wanted me to gain 20lbs. Oh, so now it's I lack substantial amounts of fat, but when I submitted my pics I was a candidate. He then leaves and I can hear him in the hallway talking to the film crew and introducing them to differrent staff. I also can hear him discussing his IG following and how he wants to be more active on Instagram and Youtube. I was utterly disgusted with him at that point and just ready to get the surgery over with. The girl comes back in asking me about the friggin garment AGAIN..I lose it!! She then brings in the OR manager who, was just as irritated as me about the situation because by this time I've been going back and forth with this staff and Dr. Fisher for 2 hours. She came in and was like you'll get the garment even if I have to pay for it myself.. let's go start your surgery. I was scheduled for surgery at 515a, after all the drama and bull I endured I didn't get into the OR until around 730a. I really believe that Dr. Fisher wasn't willing to perform the BBL today.. because he was pre-occupied with his surgeries that were going to be filmed and he wanted to get me out of there as quick as possible.. and to go through the BBL portion of the surgery would've added an additional half hour to an hour or so. I'm almost positive that if my surgery was scheduled on any other day he would've did it with no qualms because his reasons/issues changed 3X as to why he wouldn't do it today. It went from, "Oh, the Sculptra shouldn't be a problem but you're only scheduled for Lipo to Oh, the Sculptra could pose a problem due to possible inflammation and scar tissue..to finally you don't have enough fat, you need to gain 20lbs." I find my total experience with Dr. Fisher and Jolie Plastic Surgery to have bean an absolute nightmare. Which is so disheartening because his reputation exceeds him for being a good doctor when it comes to his work.. it's just that my personal experience with him was not a pleasant one. I feel bamboozled and that my intelligence was insulted..I will never, would never frequent this doctor or business again. I will not be making any recommendations, either. Now that this whole ordeal is over with I'm just hoping and praying that despite everything my results are stellar so ready to move on with my life.
