Getting my Smile Back

I am 58 years young and have had a lot of dental work done over the years. This has resulted in front teeth crossing, bite not even on sides and overbite. I figure I have a good twenty five years ahead of me and I would like my smile back. Not sure I understood the commitment, never having braces before. Learning a lot from all of you. First week of tray one and really missing my coffee, good for at least three cups a day and now down to one. Mouth is very dry, can't be without water bottle. Trying to figure best way to clean trays. I am wearing each for two weeks and surprised at how much talk there is about this. Daily, weekly, twice a week, no denture cleaner, hydrogen peroxide, mouthwash. Some comments worry me if I have done the right thing. Many seem discouraged. Glad to found this sight and looking ford to taking this journey with you.

Congrats on starting your journey! It will be worth it! :) I can't be without water either, have to sip constantly. But I guess that's good for the skin too! :) For cleaning, I use Brite tablets twice daily, when having breakfast/dinner breaks. It kills bacteria and leaves aligners looking/smelling clean & fresh. When I have lunch or snack break during the day, I just brush and rinse them really well. I use regular, non whitening toothpaste. I'm sure you will find soon what works best for you! :)

The dry mouth gets better . I'm on week 6. Done trays hurt more. My first was agony after 4 days then all fine ever since. I struggle to get them in and out mid after the attachments went in which is a pain. All good do far, Don't despair!

Love the photo! Well done for getting started - it is a commitment but I think snacking less often, drinking more water and brushing and flossing your teeth multiple times every day can only be a good thing!? I found it went really slowly at the beginning but is now starting to go a bit faster (I'm on Tray 5 of 26) and the thought of the amazing teeth I will have in a year's time is a great motivator. Good luck :)

I agree, never been a water drinker, but getting used to it real fast. Told Dr going to lose at least 10 lbs with cutting out snacking. :-)

End of week one
Wow. That was the longest week ever. I was able to maintain the 20-22 hours. Like the feeling of the invisalign in better than out. Teeth feel super sensitive and hurt with trays out. Tough getting top tray out. Tips I adopted from you all, got an Outie to help remove trays, did get Brite to soak trays to remove bacteria, lots of water to keep mouth from drying out. Really enjoy my coffee when they are out, got more chewies. No one noticed when I was wearing them. Seems to take longer than people realized it would, but I am in for the whole ride. Four days to tray two!

I just use a soft toothbrush and a bit of liquid soap..retainer brite about once a week if I remember...just avoid turmeric based foods ...unless you want neon teeth! Welcome to the family xx

I'm on trays #20 out of 24. Some of this process has been disillusioning to me. I've had to figure things out as I've gone along. I use a medical glove to remove my trays which works well I use an emery board on the sharp edges of my new trays which works very well. I'm not the happiest with my dentist because she claims none of her other patients have problems removing their trays which makes me feel she has not been totally forthcoming about the entire process. I keep focus on my goals of fixing crowding and straightening knowing there is an end
