WORTH IT
I had a facelift with this doc last year and I was super happy. I did a lot of research in multiple countries and several surgeons. The cost savings were beyond ridiculous. And NO MONEY WAS NOT MY MAIN CONCERN - and it should not be yours. However, I also wanted to stay in a great hospital with attentive staff. I knew in the USA, they are quick to push you home because hospital expenses are so stupid. Tummy tucks are very intense procedures and sending someone home in that condition is irresponsible in my opinion. However, our healthcare system is broken so moving on...
When I reached out to him about a tummy tuck, I already knew I loved him, but wanted to know what he thought. A couple of photo exchanges and calls later, I had decided to do it. He was excited about my potential outcome and knew exactly what he wanted to do. He sent me photos of other recent patients and I got on the excitement train. I ended up getting tummy tuck, flanks, back, thighs and inner thighs done with a very moderate fat transfer to the butt (ALL, including the hospital came out to less than $5000 and the care and treatment were beyond anything I have ever had in the USA).
I have only one child - he was nearly 10lbs so he counts. My child beating days are behind me - I am 50. But ever since I had him 22 years ago, I just could not fully engage my core when working out. In addition I had a roll, even at my thinnest. It has been hard to stay motivated over the years because I just never see the results I feel I deserve. However, I do see the results quickly if I do something deleterious to my figure!
Anyway, I am 9 days out. I saw the pre-swelling body and can not wait to see it again. However, even the swollen figure is pretty dang good. The shape is awesome. I am swollen and my pain, while horrific the first 3 days (and I was kept in the hospital longer than expected at the outrageous cost of $250 a night. Are you joking?), has subsided to now just occasional zings and some stiffness. I can feel the swelling starting to ease a little. I think I peaked around day 6
I took off my compression garments on day 6 and could not put them back on. I have not worn them again. Breathing was difficult and my skin felt horrible. After doing some research and combing through the hundreds of docs who say you have to wear them, I have found that they really have no good reason or evidence to explain why. And many admit that results with or without the garment are the same. So, I am not doing it. My doctor said I could try less constrictive garments and I am using some of those. He does not seem terribly concerned about my decision to rebel. He said the outcome should be exactly the same.
So today I went shopping and to the beach to walk. I didn’t surf or sky dive, but I felt good. Napped and felt better. Planning to stay in Mexico for 12 more days because my first 10 were spent getting to where I am comfortable enough to really enjoy this paradise.
I will update as my results unfold. And post pictures later

Day 12 Tummy Tuck no compression garments

Loving this. Got rid of the stupid compression garment. I have had far reduced pain and discomfort without it. I have not worn it in 7 days. Do your research - wear it if you want to, but be sure it is for the right reasons!

Well, still swollen. BUT! The past week has been like super quick recovery. I feel almost normal with only a touch of discomfort at night with phantom itches and swelling discomfort and feeling bloated.
My pants are all starting to fit and even be loose. Getting into some pants that I havent been able to in a MINUTE. Plus I am still swollen in the thighs and belly so I know it will only get better.
Even more than the results I am finally seeing, I am.just so happy to feel almost 100% again. I feel like working and being active and hope to get into the gym in the next week or so.
Still not wearing any compression garments. I have a trouble spot on my hip at the waist from the few days in the beginning when I DID wear the garment. The hose from my drain went up over my hip and I swelled around it. That crease was 2.5 inches deep at one point but now is just a vague line that almost goes away in the morning but returns in the evening a little. At least it is starting to.soften - it was rock hard for weeks. I totally blame the garment for that.

How was the pain control situation in Mexico? You were smart to stay in the hospital for a few days, IMHO.
I'm so happy that you got such AMAZING results. Congratulations!
I will tell you that after leaving the hospital i was very happy to see that i was treated much more holistically than i expected
Serrapeptase, curcumin and other enzymes being some e of the main prescriptions, ultrasound massage and very few hard core pain killers and limited ibuprofen and tylenol. I expected to.have surgery, recover and enter rehab the way we do in the US - addicted to something. But they were very careful with the prescriptions.
If I ever did anything again, I would go right back to the same doc and hospital.
