I just had the Orbera placed on Thursday. I haven't experienced any nausea or vomiting but I do have a bit of cramping. I also feel very week. I've only had broth, juice, and water since two days before surgery.
So far I've lost about 10 lbs in just a few days. It all water weight of course. I feel foggy and am not able to drive. I have a three year old that I took to a roller skating birthday party today. Luckily she didn't like the skating part so she sat around with her friends playing arcade and eating popcorn. I would have not had the energy to put on skates and take her skating.
My start weight is 213. I am hoping to lose at least 40 lbs.

Almost a month with obrera

I had the obrera ballon placed on May 25. So far so good. I've lost about 15 lbs. I am not exercising yet but only bcz we are moving and I just haven't had time.
The cramping has fully subsided. I am 100% on solid food. I am eating mostly a high protein diet. No rice, bread, or sweets. I get full much faster than before. I try to eat 5 small meals throughout the day and occasionally drink a Diet Coke. Otherwise lots and lots of water. I find that if I don't drink enough water through out the day then I feel empty. The water helps my tummy not feel hungry.
All in all I am very satisfied with the procedure. I am not satisfied with the service I received from the Mexico Bariatric Center. They are horrible with customer service. Basically, they'll tell you whatever it takes to get paid and once you pay they stop responding. I worked with Kristi and I've delt with Brian and he's just rude on so many levels. Dr Ponce and his assistant were very good and like I said absolutely no side affects. I had zero nausea. I've never even thrown up. That's one of the major side affects when the ballon isn't appropriately placed.

Thank you so much for this update. I'm heading to MBC next week and having the balloon placed on Friday. The staff has been good in communicating si far, but we will see what happens next week. Thanks for the tips and suggestions on food. I'm not looking forward to giving up carbs. Was the two day liquid diet before placement tough?

It wasn't that bad. Afterwards was worse. Just make sure to drink the chicken broth and pops. You'll be fine. Right afterwards, I purchased ice pops for home and sipped lots of water. Take the meds. They'll be very helpful. Good luck. Let me know how it goes!

Awesome thanks so much. I'm nervous because I'll be flying back to MN the day after the procedure. My stomach is usually pretty strong though. I'll update you in a couple weeks!

Yes, that should be fine. By day 4 of no food you are still kinda ok. Just note that I was very uncomfortable with every bump on the road. We drive in from LA so it was about a 5 hour flight. Ask for disabled assistance through your airline. They will pick you up curbside in a wheel chair. There is no cost- just a few bucks tip for the attendant. Do you work? How soon after do you need to go back To work. I was off for 5 days but I work from home. My surgery was Thursday. I went back to work on Tuesday and I was extremely tired. Later in the week on Thursday I had an all day meeting that I had to attend in person and I was fine. Energy level was good. One thing that I'll note is that I had to eat solids by day three. I had a soft scrambled egg and protein shakes. I was just too hungry and have a three year old daughter that I must keep up with. Also, I started with a regular diet and monitoring my macros but have now decided to do keto instead and the weight is starting to melt off. I am at 19 lbs.

And before I forget- bring loooooose clothes. Literally a moo moo. Your tummy (or at least mine) will feel distended. Any pressure on or around the waistline is very uncomfortable. Also, a sports bra or a bra without wires might be best for the long flight.

Oh ok awesome, I will pack the closest thing I have to one. I've taken two days off from work after I get back, but I'm sure I can call in or work from home if I need more time. Thanks for the tip about the wheel chair, I was worried about navigating San Diego on very low energy. I have a son with tons if energy too, so I'll probably try to eat some solid protein. Yeah, I'm planning on counting every calorie and attempting no carb as best I can. I'm nervous but so excited. My weight ja just gotten out of control

Was also going to ask- did they provide you with any liquid foods the day before the procedure? Just wondering if I should bring some of what.
