My name is Laura. I am 49 and have wanted to get a face lift for quite a while. During my research, I had 3 consultations with cosmetic surgeons in the Dallas/Fort Worth areas. Prices ranged from $15k – $22k with the procedure been done as an ‘out-patient’ in a clinic. Various areas are included in a facelift so beware you are specific as to what is included for the price.

Although I felt comfortable with the doctors’ competency, I did not want to spend that amount of money and not receive supervised after-care.

Via internet searching, I found Pat Marino’s website. She requested several ‘close-up’ photos, which revealed that I was a good candidate for a full face-lift. Dr Koelliker requires a PRE-qualification blood panel, sent by email to him, taken by my local doc to be sure all is OK for surgery before you fly down and for your safety (this blood work is on you.) These pre-op tests are taken again at the Guadalupano Hospital as part of their extensive work up prior to your surgery. I found the hospital just fine. This is where I met my new friend and "surgery buddy." Certainly better than having my surgery in a clinic and sent home the same day.

After 3-4 phone conversations with Pat, I felt comfortable with the situation and the cost was very reasonable.

My husband and family were not happy because I was having the surgery in Mexico alone by myself. However, when I learned of www.Realself.com, I read a woman’s story of her facelift done in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico by Dr Koelliker. This eased my mind regarding personal safety, travel and medical care south of the border.

Everything went as planned. The details were exactly as Pat Marino had explained them to me. My surgery deposit was paid to confirm my date, the balance due to Dr Koelliker was paid to him by check at conclusion of our consult.

From the time I arrived at Leon airport I was met by my private/driver escort - to the day I left, I was accompanied by an English-speaking driver who was kind and courteous. Language was never a problem, or a deterrent.

At the hospital, Dr. Kolliker gave me a 1 ½ hour consultation prior to my facelift. I was very excited and pleased to have found such a professional, kind and caring doctor who was concerned for my best results.

He suggested I have my upper/lower eyes done, a temporal forehead lift; mid face and a neck lift (all included in his fee of $6,500). ( He uses the SMAS technique). The 10 day, 9 night all inclusive Hospital/Recovery package is added on for $l,800 or a total amount for a 10 day cosmetic surgery vacation of $8,300. When I compared this to Dallas prices starting at $15,000, as an out patient I was really pleased.

After 3 days at the hospital, I was released by Dr. Kolliker. Once again I was transported to Spa CLub CASA MARINO by my private driver, which is a beautiful, luxurious, safe and clean spa/resort. Their staff watches you daily. I was treated as a guest in a family setting. The food was home-made and nutritious.

It is normal to have swelling and bruising after a facelift. However, I was lucky! I did have swelling and bruising, but it was minimal and was nearly gone on the 10th day I flew home. I also had the upper/lower lip dermabrasion to erase my smokers lines. One more thing, Dr K will not allow surgery unless you are smoke free for 6 weeks.

If you are considering a facelift, or other type of surgery; please do not be fearful about going to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. (It;s in the mountains, over l,000 miles from the border...a charming place and very safe.) My sweet friend, surgery buddy, who I met there and I ... just walked all over town and had a ball shopping, having lunch, enjoying the sites.

You will be delighted with both the cost and the results of Dr Koelliker's full facelift.
