First Time Getting PRP, and I Knew More About It Than the Doctor Who Did It.... - Metairie, LA

First let me say, always follow your first mind. I was going to book an appointment initially with Dr. Prasad in New York (which I should have done because he was my first choice.) However, I choose a local doctor. I went to the consultation appointment and Dr. Rogers was nice, but did not have any patient photos to show of patients that she had done PRP/ a cell treatments on. She gave me a paper explaining the PRP, and stated that it would be a total of 3 services for the PRP/acell (once every two months) I asked if I would see results after one service and she said it takes about 6 months and the 3 services are recommended to see results. I mentioned to her about Dr. Prasad stating his PRP hair restoration service is a one time injection with a booster maybe in 4 years. She didn't really say much except repeat about her 3 services. Well.....I made the appointment to get the PRP/acell done ( she only does PRP on Thursdays only in her practice.) The day of my appointment, Inshowed up. I was taken in one room to draw my blood for the PRP. They took my blood to another room to spin it down, then move me to another room to do the service. This was my first time getting the service done (and after watching Doctors videos injecting PRP/ acell into their patients scalp) I knew when I felt her just shooting the PRP out of the syringe onto my scalp ( no injection) I knew it was not being done right, the nurse who was assisting her was holding gauze to the sides of my face as the PRP ran down, she then begin to do micro-needling in the top of my scalp and used a dermaroller on my temporal areas. The procedure wasn't even 20 minutes. I think I just wasted $700, and I definitely won't be returning for the second or third session as recommend. It's been a few weeks and my hair still looks like the photos shown. No changes what so ever. Next time I'll just have to get an appointment with a more experienced PRP Doctor, even if that means traveling out of town by airplane..... Not happy at all :(

It's a shame you lost so much money. But it looks like your natural hair is healthy. So just be Au Natural, it's a good look.

Do you know the average price Dr. Prasad charges for his hair restoration?

Thanks,

At the time what I was quoted back in 2015 it starts at $3,500

I'm sorry your treatment wasn't explained to you better. It is appropriate to topically apply the PRP and microneedle it in. You can also follow this procedure with injecting PRP into the scalp. Hopefully your $700 wasn't a total wast. Also, you can repeat the treatment and should every 2 weeks for a total of 8 weeks.

Go with Dr. Prasad! I had mine done with him and it worked, two years later and my hair is thick as ever. He definitely knows what he's doing.

Hi sheiser1 and newmary24! FYI, we don't allow external links (well, in the majority of cases) or contact information (including doctors) in comments. No one is in trouble; I just wanted to let you know. :)

You can actually find Dr. Prasad's contact information and request a consultation from his profile here on RealSelf

Still No Progress After PRP/ with Acell

Laji
All details were explained in my previous post, so this post is just to show my front edges are still thin like I never had anything done. I braided my hair to show my parting areas are also still wide no difference post PRP/ acell..... I wish I would have went to a Doctor more experienced in PRP with acell :(

Per my understanding I think you may have just gotten the PRP treatment only. I believe adding ACELL is what not only helps boost the PRP BUT also is the reason why you don't need additional treatments so soon afterwards. I'm saving my money so I can see Dr. Prasad. Drs where I live want the same amount of money for 3 treatments in a few months period with additional treatments needed down the road for more money
August 23, 2016
As where Dr Prasad only requires 1 treatment. Also it'll take time to see the results

Yes, I don't think it was mixed with the Acell (like I was told it was by Dr. Rogers.) My blood was drawn in one room, then they took it to another room to spin it down. Then I was taken to another room where everything was already in syringes, so I didn't even see what was mixed in with the PRP. Lesson learned I should have just invested more money and went to Dr. Peas ad being that I had already got a price quote from him and actually saw his patient results.....

Typo*** Dr. Prasad

Hi so sorry that happened. I'm I the middle of looking for Dr's too. Can you tell me more about weekday actually supposed to happen? And the better Dr's name and number and address please.
Thanks

I wouldn't count it as a loss until you've given it at least 3 to 5 months. You will usually need a few treatments for maximum results. Prp therapy is a lesson in patience because your own body is doing the work. You may have a great result in the end.
