So I'll b 33 in 2 months & I'm finally able to take the steps I want towards a better looking & feeling me....starting with the thing I'm most self conscious about, my smile. I have an overbite with gaps in between both sides the two big front teeth! No dental insurance so I had to hope & pray that I got accepted into the local orthodontic school program for adult braces! I had my xrays, cleaning & cavity fillings in August. Did my impressions in September and just got my braces yesterday. I was told that this should be a simple move. So glad I didn't have to do any extractions or spacers.

U should go for it. I've only had mine for almost two weeks & although I haven't noticed much change, my confidence level has definitely risen.

Really that's pretty cool I'm still trying to decide what orthodontics I want to go with

Really I've heard of that here in St.louis but I believed it was a waiting list

I just got braces too a 35. It feels so strange. I'm still getting used to it. Honestly, I feel hideous because my mouth protrudes a bit. I have several friends and associates that got them in their 30's so I'm not too insecure about that...just the way I look and feel.

I was always insecure b4 my braces. With them my confidence level has definitely boosted & I don't really even have signs of change yet. I don't think they take too long to adjust to so maybe once ur used to them, ur feelings will change.

I hope so! Thanks for responding. I really only had minor crowding in the bottom so I can't imagine it would take longer than a year or 1.5 years max.

Before braces pics
Uploading some pics of my smile before braces. I wish I had taken some pics showing the full top & bottom row of teeth but the bottom row never really showed. As u can c from my pics, I only really have one pose that I'm confident in, LOL!

3 weeks down....
Yesterday was the third week in braces. It hasn't been too bad....yet! I had to eat soft foods for about 12 days. By last Friday, I was ready 4 prime rib! The first two weeks, my teeth were sore and I can tell that my 2 front teeth have come back some. Actually they've moved enough for the wire to b loose so the orthodontist changed both top & bottom wires. He said he was pleased with the movement. When putting n the new wires I felt pressure but today I feel pain everywhere but the back teeth on the right side so I guess I'm back to noodles & grilled cheese.

What foods were you eating when you initially got your braces on?

November 12, 2016
The first week I only ate soft foods like noodles, grilled cheese sandwiches, baked chicken, rice, soft veggies, sub sandwiches (really hate when the lettuce gets in the wire) & and the occasional McDonald's cheeseburger because they're easy to tear into pieces & chew.

Thank you. I'm getting mine on next month and I'm just trying to prepare myself.

Wow, congratulations on getting started! That's so awesome that you were able to work with the school. Do you know how long your treatment is supposed to be?
That's not bad! I'm excited to follow your progress. :)
