Why is this being continually posted when this is out of date?!?!

The best rhinoplasty surgeon in melbourne - gave me my best and most perfect nose after a botched op from Dr Alan Kalus. Best thing to happen, changed my life. Think he will retire in the next year or so though!

Hi There, I am thinking about seeing Dr Holmes for my nose operation soon. I can see you have seen him for your nose. Can you please contact me directly so I can ask you how he was? This will be my 3rd operation after 2 botched ops and I am a little nervous. I would really appreciate your help
He is incredible and will do what is best for your nose. My nose was complicated - he told me that. Now, I’m happier then ever. Trust him. He is old, very experienced and just wonderful to deal with.
Lalal03 I'm curious to know if you ended up seeing Dr Holmes. He's an amazing Dr! Myself and 2 of my friends all went to him almost a decade ago. My nose was the most severely deviated one he's ever seen. He did surgery in 2010 and I actually went into see him today because I want to get it completely straightened. He smoothed it out last time and opened it up so I was able to breathe but since I didn't have much cartilage he didn't straighten it. I went today to speak to him and he explained that he can defs straighten it for my however he'll have to get the cartilage from my ribs.. yikes! Anyway he's retiring end of the year so I'll definitely be booking in ASAP haha
Hi There Cee.Cee09
Yes I went to see him but his retiring at the end of the year your right and unfortunately I can t afford his fees and costs to get my nose done this year which is so frustrating. I have no idea where to go now....At the earliest it will be mid to late next year that I can get mine done. Any recommendations?
Hi, I went to see Tony this year as well for a follow up after many years. He is retiring soon, he was able to recommend two surgeons who are younger who possibly trained under him. Call his office and get his assistant to give you those details. I forgot them myself, sorry!
Thank you so much for your reply. I wrote this message (and many others) and you have been the first to reply since this message went up. I have heard from a few medical professionals that he is very good and have come across a handful of reviews on line saying the same thing BUT it has been very hard trying to find review on DR Holmes. Not sure why?
This might be a big stretch BUT I thought I would ask and with a bit of luck you might say yes.... Is it possible too see what your before and after nose looked like?

As mentioned this will be my 3rd and I am a little nervous. I would really appreciate it.. you can even contact me direct if you dont want to list the photos online for everyone too see.
Hi there, I too am looking for a surgeon to do a revision rhino. My first one was done nearly 30 years ago so I don't even think the surgeon is still around. Can I ask who did your first two surgeries so that I know to avoid those surgeons? With thanks
Dr Kalus, avoid. Terrible work.
Thanks for your reply, I called Mr Holmes rooms, he is not taking any more patients as he is retiring!! Devastating!!!!!
I've noticed as well there are not many reviews online of him but then, he is not like a 'celebrity plastic surgeon'. He is known however for being an expert at revisions and that information I have seen online and this was confirmed by him in our first meeting (he told me that, not the other way around). I prefer not to post my photos online for privacy but the bridge of my nose was very broad and my nostrils fleshy. I had had too much taken out in the bridge resulting in a sunken in slope, and not enough minimised with the nostrils. It was all out of proportion after Dr Kalus. He did a woeful job. Dr Holmes took cartilage from another area of my body to build up my bridge straight and smooth and minimised the nostrils as much as he could. I do have breathing problems today but it is minor and he offered to fix the breathing but said that would be at the cost of widening the nostrils a little. No thank you! My nose is cute, sweet and a little imperfect but it suits my face perfectly and my life changed after he fixed it. Now, I'm nowhere near as self conscious about it and I really feel that my face is in balance. He does a very good job of understanding you, your face and your nose before surgery. He is a natural at doing a good job I believe. He even went so far as to tell me how I was going to age and how my nose was going to look when I'm in my 80's! Apparently I will lose some weight in the face but because there is cartilage around the bridge everything will still be nice and smooth. He goes above and beyond. I will be sad when he retires as Melbourne will lose an incredibly skilful surgeon.
Hi, Thank you for your reply. I appreciate you not wanting to post photos for privacy reasons, thats understandable.
So you would say that he is the best Dr. in Melbourne for Revision Rhinoplasty?
It will be my 3rd operation and I am nervous. I just want a nose that is petite (for my face though) more feminine and well defined. I dont want something too small but I dont want something too big. I just want it too look natural like I was born with a beautiful nose that suits for face. I saw some of his previous work but not many recent photos. Did he show you many photos of previous work? I think that is where I am a little unsold. But then you read things and speak with other industry medical professionals and they all speak so highly of him.. i think i just want to see some more photos.
How many consultations did you have with him before you made your decision to book with him?
Hi, I would say yes he is the premier doctor for revisions, he told me that revisions make up the majority of his work. I actually think I got his reference from one of my older male friends who is an anesthetist, who naturally knew many surgeons and heard who was good. This friend also gave me a great reference for breast augmentation (Hamish Farrow) who I might go to after I have kids ;). Anyway, it took me 6-12 months to get an appointment with Holmes. When I finally got to my appointment with him, he ran me through everything wrong with my nose and how he could fix it. Of course I made my mind up there and then that it was done - I could no longer go on with this nose. I had been unhappy with my nose all my life! His cost is about average, as you expect, but seriously the cost of the nose he gave me is nothing compared to the contentment and satisfaction I now have and will have all throughout my life. My nose is natural, a little uneven, it looks perfect for my face. Totally in proportion. Trust him, he knows best what to do.

* yes I think he showed me previous work but it was from years ago. Also he does some modelling of what he can do for you.
*as he is so fully booked its not like you can keep going back to him asking questions, you have your one consultation and then you decide. Unless you want to wait and wait but the nose is a serious part of the face - if its not right you cant look at any of the beautiful features, eyes, cheekbones, lips etc. Fixing my nose was the best thing I ever did and it will be a shame when Holmes is retired.

*I should also add that as you age the nose doesn't stop growing! As I have aged my nose has changed shape - not noticeable to anyone else but myself but I know as I look at photos from years back it HAS changed. It took 12-24 months for the swelling to go down, I would say 24 months safely for the nose to 'settle'. It is still beautiful though, just be mindful that swelling is definitely a thing months and months and months after your dressings come off. Also I would recommend to avoid eating salty foods too. I found my swelling / nose reacted to very salty food and nowadays I eat a healthy diet / diet low in salt which reduces the amount of water I hold (can notice it in the face/in the tip or bulb of the nose) and also I find that keeping my weight on the lower side also makes my face and nose look more sharp. Once I put on weight my face goes a bit more round and it makes my nose look rounder too. Finally, a light suntan will really help to slim the face and minimise the nose.
