Levulan Kerastick Treatment. Melbourne, FL

Now that it has been a few weeks after my treatment I am happy with the results. Skin feels soft and smooth. I peeled several times over the entire week after treatment. The nurse who applied the light said I could do it again in 3 months, I think I will do it again but not for at least 6 months or more. Nothing happened on the chest area, never peeled, never got red. Maybe because it was not prepped before the treatment. She had some extra and put it on my chest at the last minute.

I am on day 3 after having the treatment done. So far not too bad. They cleaned my face with acetone, yes fingernail polish remover, to strip away all the oils on my face. Once the Levulan kerastick treatment was put on my face, she had some extra left so she went ahead and put the rest on my chest. I waited 2 hours then the blue light was placed over my face for 16. something min. I felt some stinging in certain spots, felt hot, they used a fan that helped a lot. Really not too bad, not as bad as I had expected due to the fact I have lived in Hawaii and Florida my entire life. Fair, Blonde hair, Blue eyes. The nurse had told me the treatment will only react to damaged skin cells. If done on non damaged skin nothing would happen. That night and the next day I felt like I had a sunburn, with a bright red face. First two days I stayed inside away from any light at all. Now on day 3 still feels tight, still red but not bright red, I have blotchy spots all over my chest and face. I have a couple spots on my face that are very sore to touch. My nose is the worst, hurts to put my glasses on. I expect to start peeling in a day or so.
One of the most important things is to stay out of the sun or any direct light. The treatment stays active for 48 hours on your skin so if you are in the sun or light it will burn and cause your skin more pain. I will go back in 3 months for a recheck. Dr said I could do this again in 3 months.
I would do this again due to the skin cancer that runs in my family and the pre cancer I have already had. Not sure yet if I will be ready to do it again in 3 months.
