I just happened upon this site a few weeks ago and it has been one of the most eye opening experiences of my life. I got implants for my 40th Birthday nine years ago. I didn't want anything big just a little fullness. I was excited to be able to wear a tank top without a bra but to my surprise the day I got out of surgery and got my implants my hopes turned into a disaster. I went to post-op and looked in the mirror and I looked like a blow up doll by the chest. I begin to sob like I had lost a love one. I could not believe how big my boobs were. The doctor told me that it was just swollen and should go down soon. Well I waited and waited for months and they were still way too big for my taste and secondly she put the same amount of fluid in both breasts when clearly one was bigger than the other to start with so now I am stuck with implants that are uneven. It was a total waste of 6,000. Well I tried to hang in there with them over the years but in the meantime my health has taken a turn for the worst. I have pain all over my body. My joints and muscles hurt like crazy. I developed asthma along with another lung disease and has never smoked a day in my life. I am tried and exhausted most days and at first I thought it was just me but reading the stories of other women on this site nearly brought me to my knees. So many of us have auto immune issues as well as joint and muscle pain, headaches; you name it. This can't be by chance. I was so healthy before these implants and now it seems like I am being diagnosed with a different problem every time I go to my doctor. This has been a nightmare one that I regret with all of my being. I am in the process of interviewing doctors in Brevard County Florida so that I can get these things out of my body. I never liked the negative attention that these things created in the first place. I have spent the entire time in minimizer bras trying to hide these huge breasts. Ladies please think twice before you do this to your body. My PS did a wonderful job don't get me wrong and I would like to say CUDOS to her but the size was never my personality and I tolerated it but can't any longer. It was hard going from a “B” cup to a “DD” something that I never asked for but my doctor stated that she felt that the size was a good fit for my body. I just wanted to look athletic with a little Ump…Not like a pole dancer. These things are so heavy and they make my back ache. I want them gone yesterday. I will post pictures soon so that you can see before and after pictures. I just want to thank all the brave women that have come forward to tell their stories because it is helping so many of us woman to have the courage to go ahead and remove our implants. Thank you for being brave..

Hi, I am from Tampa, Florida. Flew to Cleveland to have Dr Feng remove mine. She is excellent. My surgery was Last Friday. I will send you a message later or just email me with questions. I am very tired and sore so getting off here. Sounds like we have some of the same symptoms.

Hi I have an appointment next week with my PS I have had implants for 12 years. I am a full C and was told a few years ago that I would be lucky to be a A after they take the implant out.. At this point I could care less if I have any at all.. It hit home when you said you couldn't wait to wear a button down sort without it puckering between the buttons. I can't wait either

Kerrijpeters, it's the best feeling in the world. I feel so confident again. When I had my implants I would wear gear to try to make them look smaller. In my opinion and taste they were just too much. Now, I can wear anything and it looks wonderful. I enjoy my tops now if that makes sense? I look back on the time when I got my implants and realize that it was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. Lesson learned for sure. I am looking forward to toning back up. I feel better already and my health has already improved. Good luck and I promise that you will love your natural body. You will have a greater appreciation of who you are once they have been removed. Keep me posted and let me know if you have any questions.

Hi, what were your health issues when you had them? Why do some need drains, others not? Did you look ok afterwards?
October 16, 2015
The difference with drains versus no drains stems in what kind of surgery you have. If you are just getting your implants removed then chances are you will not require drains. If you have your implants removed with a capsualectomy. That type of surgery require drains. I am not suggesting that my implants were the full reason for my illness because I believe that some of us are just sensitive to foreign objects in our bodies which can lead to various health issues. I ended up with Connective tissue disease, sojourgens disease, joint issues, auto immune issues. I just feel like my body was rejecting my implants so I decided to have them removed to see if it was the case. For most people implants pose no threat but there is a few of us out here who's body my reject their implants after a while and therefore the immune system begin to fight against the foreign object. I have friends that have implants and have never had any issues with their health but I was not so lucky. Are you having issues?

Explanted completed on 9/10/15
goodman48September 14, 2015
Well Ladies I did it! I got my implants Explanted on 9/10/15 and I have fallen in love with my natural looking breast. The surgery took about 2 1/2 hours and it went extremely well. I ended up not even needing the pain pills so that was a blessing. I ended up getting a Capsualectomy along with the implant removal and it was well worth it. I also found another PS that sold the Recovery System after surgery so I am taking that to help my body bounce back. I can't say enough kind words concerning my PS. She was understanding of my health and went out of her way to ensure that I was comfortable and happy. My breast don't look too bad and I know after a few months they will be back to normal. I was shocked to see that they still looked a little perky even after having 475cc in my chest for almost 10 years. This has been the best decision of my life. If only you can imagine how wonderful it felt to put on a front button t,op and to not have it pucker between buttons was amazing. I am looking forward to toning back up and revealing this athletic frame that I have. As far as my health I have noticed a ton of improvement although I know it will take a while to completely recover . All and all it was so worth it and I am very satisfied with the outcome. Thank you Dr. Guy!

Thank you so much! I ran into my first issue today. I woke up with a lot so stinging where my incisions are. It turns out that I am allergic to the tape. I was trying to take the tape off and it ripped my skin off. I had to go out and buy some gauze to cover the incision. It is just a minor setback.

Ouch ! I'm so sorry to hear that ! I hope you heal quickly from that set back .

Congratulations on your explant! Like you, I have DD+ for close to 20 years (this is my 4th set - 7 surgeries - lots of complications) This is, without a doubt, my biggest regret in life. I made an appointment with a PS for an explant, he sent me for a routine mammogram and sonogram just to make sure there was nothing "going on" inside as I have been having pain for close to a year. I just figured it was because they are so big and they are a foreign object inside my body. Well, long story short, mammogram turned up breast cancer. I now will be having surgery for the explant so the cancer surgeon can do what she needs to do. There is a silver lining though, now since the implants have to come out to remove the cancer, my insurance will pay for it!! Now, to get to my actual question, when they did your removal, did you have drains put in? I am a very squeamish person and the thought of "drains" hanging out my incisions makes me ill.
September 25, 2015
Hi , I am so sorry to hear that news but hopefully it is in early stages that they can get to it and remove the bad cells so that you can be healthy again. I will make sure that I keep you lifted in my prayers. You will be fine. I had an explant surgery with a total capsualectomy and those types do require drains to be put in. If you need them please get them because if not you will develop Seroma ( fluid buildup) and you don't want that. I am dealing with Seroma now due to the fact that my drains were removed too early. To be honest with you I didn't have any issues with them other than having to be careful not to pull them out. They are just a pain because they get in the way. Please don't worry about the drains let's focus on getting you back healthy. You are going to be so happy once you get those heavy bags out of your body. I stayed very bloated with my implants and now my stomach is getting flat again all on it's own so the benefits from having them removed out weighs having those toxic bags inside of your body. Please let me know if you need anything. I am here for you.

i am getting mine out soon, what is the recovery system?
October 15, 2015
One was called Homopathic Arnica Montana 30x and Bromelain with Quercetin. You can call VitaMedica customer Service @ ***-***-****. Good luck !

What Jess said. Sorry about that. This spell check at times is something else. How are you Jessica?

October 16, 2015
Yeah mine sometimes does that too;) good Hun thanks, I just emailed my PS with my demands;o) LOL

I just had mine removed 2 days ago, 10/22/15!!! So grateful for all of the posts. You ladies gave me the courage to follow through and your pics comforted and prepared me with what to expect post op. Thank you all!!! I have been swelling, suffering from 30 pound weight gain in the last 2 years, as well as high cholesterol, elevated A1c, and an overwhelming unwell feeling. I noticed immediately after surgery the swelling in my hands and feet had gone down substantially. I originally got implants in 2009 to boost upper pole volume after breast feeding 3 babies. I really needed a lift but was afraid of the procedure and the scars. I made the decision to have silicone implants above the muscle for a speedy recovery and I was told using that type of implant above the muscle would give me a bit of a lift. Little did I realize what I was really getting myself into. I have been through 6 years of misery due to my implants. 2 weeks after the initial surgery I had a hematoma. It was very scary and my left breast doubled in size in a matter of minutes. I literally thought it would burst. Of course, it was New Years Eve and I had to have emergency surgery. The implant was removed a drain was inserted and implant replaced. I went in post op to have the drain removed and then ended up with trauma, a capsule, and scar tissue. This then had to be operated on remove the capsule and got yet another implant. So my left breast had actually been operated on 3 times in less than 3 years and never felt right. I recently went to see my ob because of a rash, lumpiness, and hardening in that left breast!! The breast I had been playing the mind over matter game with for the last few years. I did not want another surgery. He said it was not right and I needed to see a PS so I did. Crazy how they suggest removing and replacing them... Obviously my body is not ok with the foreign implants and have been rejecting them. Why would I want to replace the thing that has been causing me issues??? Well, I did not want to look deformed. That is why. Also, my husband likes the way I look and I had a fear he wouldn't find me pretty anymore. 2 Doctors pretty much agreed my left breast would be deformed once the scarring and the implant were removed. Thats pretty scary to think about. So, my options were to remove the implants, remove and replace the implants, or to remove the implants and get a lift. I agonized over the decision and went back and forth from Doctor to Doctor and finally came to the conclusion to get these things out!!! I did it 2 days ago and actually returned to work for a full day today!!!

Recovery was fine. I woke up with a scratchy throat but feeling alert and well. I had my prescriptions filled before surgery and brought them with me. The nurse gave me the iv meds and when I was leaving the office she gave me my first pain pill(hydrocodon-acetaminoph 7.5-325). I have a prescription to take 1 every 4 hours if needed. I don't want to take it if I don't need it. took 1 at 1:30, 1 at 5:30, then took tylenol, then needed another pain pill 5:40am and the next at 2pm. I showered this am dried my hair got dressed took a tylenol and drove myself to work. I was feeling ok then weak at 3pm but forced myself to make it a full day and left the office 6pm. Got home with sore arms and a burning feeling at incision sites. Feeling happy that I made it through the day. I probably overdid it so just took a pain pill 10pm. Breasts look deflated and a little bruised. I purchased a zip front bra instead of the hook in the front. Should have gotten the one with hooks because I had trouble zipping up the bra as sore as I was. I did it and wore the zip front for the day but I prefer the bra Dr sent me home in with the hooks. It fits firmer and holds everything in better which feels better. I have kept ice on my chest at all times except for today while I was at work. I have no drains. Dr. says they removed the implants which have a sticky feeling. The shell has lost its integrity and he said they have been leaking. He removed some of the capsule and some scar tissue but not all because tearing the capsule away would have caused even more damage to my breast and muscle tissue. I am hoping and praying for a speedy and healthy recovery. Looking droopy for now.

I went from a 34 DDD to Im not sure yet??? My implants were 325 Silicone gel Mentor. I feel like I can breathe better already and hope to fit into clothing much better now. I have had a hard time fitting into anything due to the size of my breasts.
October 25, 2015
It's funny that you say that you can breath better. I feel the exact same way. My air quality has improved so much. It was harder to breath with 475cc implants. You are going to look great in your clothing you just give yourself a little healing time. We both are still healing and we have to take it easy. If you do too much the pain and burning will tell you to stop. I took off 2 weeks just so that I can force myself to take it easy. Don't over do it.
October 25, 2015
Bless your heart, you have had a time. I am glad that you are not having to take a lot of pain pills. I am not a big fan of them. I think I took one my first night and no more. Those pain pills had me delirious. I sure hope and pray that everything goes well. You just had surgery so they will be droopy but in a few months you should see some fluff. I know that your husband liked you with your implants but if your body was rejecting them and you were having medical problems then you have to put you first in this situation. He fell in love with you not your implants. They are not a determining factor in your relationship. You have to be heathy and that comes first. He will be alright once he sees you heathy. I am very small up front. I will let you know once I heal up and get measured but if I had to guess I would say that I am a 34B cup and I am just fine with that. My implants made me look heavy not athletic and I rather look athletic than matronly. I pray that your breast will fluff out and fill out without any deformaties. Keep me posted.

2 Week Update
goodman48September 24, 2015
So I am at the two week mark after explant and I had a small setback. I ended back up at my PS because I was having a lot of pain in my breast. She ended up removing 70cc of fluid from my right and 125cc of fluid from my left breast. I only had my drains in for 24 hours after explant with a total capsualectomy and it was not enough time for my breast to rid itself of all fluid. I plan on going back next week to get more fluid drained if need be. Don't be afraid to speak up if something feels off . The pain from the fluid buildup was very intense and I have not been able to sleep comfortable in over a week. I pray since she drained so much fluid today that I am able to rest. Be safe ladies.

This has made me feel comfortable with my decision.my surgery is tomorrow. I WENT FROM a b cup to dd I only wanted to be a full c. I to feel like a blow up doll.they make me feel fat.at first I thought maybe I need a lift but after seeing your boobs make me want my own back.so tomorrow I will have these big ole things out.thank you for sharing your story
September 24, 2015
I am so happy that you have decided to explant. You won't regret your decision I promise. Although my chest is smaller I have more confident in the way I look now than when I had the implants. I am loving my natural body. I love the way I look. I will try to upload a picture in some clothing so you can see. I am moly two works out so I have a lot of fluffing to go but the results are incredible for 10 year old implants. I look forward to hearing back from you . Keep pressing forward.

September 24, 2015
sending prayers so once the fluid residues are removed, seroma doesn't return! you look great without implants. Must have been very heavy to carry yours, which were really big- you obviously had a lot of tissue of your own on top of implant weight.
September 25, 2015
Those implants were super big. I did't want that especially since I was an athlete before the implants. They left me with neck, shoulder and back problems making it very hard to keep an active lifestyle. I never liked them from day one but tolerated them because they cost my hubby so much money. I was still muscular up top so after explant they looked the same as they did before I put those bags into my chest. I stayed so bloated with my implants in my midsection and now that I have them out things are starting to level out. I highly recommend having implants explanted for better quality of life.

September 25, 2015
mine are 335 g - I was an a pre BA. explant is in just 2 days and two nights, sept 28. I am looking forward to it. Uneasy about the outcome but sick and tired of implants. I cannot perceive fake 'breasts' as breasts anymore. What a blessing!
September 26, 2015
You are going to be so happy to see your new/old breast. I feel so much more confident in my appreance than ever. Those implants made me feel ashamed for some reason. I always found myself trying to find things that would mimiumize the size of the implants. I could not stand to see them sticking out from my chest. I have made the biggest mistake of my life right. You are going to feel great just you watch and see.

September 26, 2015
me too!! ashamed and embarrassed. MIne were big but the fact that they were fake ( I stupidly thought implans would behave liek real breast- they cant- they're fake!) belittled me- I disguised and camouflaged them!! I so much relate to you!!!! Thank godI'm not the only one who has had these feelings!!!
happy healing!!!!
happy healing!!!!

I am sure that most on thia site that are getting then explanted feels the same way. I would be in a business meeting giving a presentation in front of everyone and had the feeling that I was naked in front of the entire room. I was so embarrassed. The thing that got to me most is when people would tell me that I had big boobs. In my opinion they made me look very heavy. I was no longer that athletic girl I use to see in the mirror. Does that make sense?

September 26, 2015
Yes.
Some women enjoy this kind of attention, others fake look.
I've learnt to mind my side of the street and accept whatever is going on though.
My explant is in a day and 2 nights! Hurrah!

Good for you for listening to your instinct. Hopefully you won't have any more fluid buildup.
September 24, 2015
I pray that I won't either but if I fill back up I won't hesitate to have her to drain that fluid out again. I went wrong for not speaking up and saying to her that I was still draining and that I wanted to keep them in. I am hoping my experience can help someone else that may be faced with removing the drains after 24 hours after surgery. I think they should at least stay in 4 -7 days depending on the person. Show removed them because I only had 30cc in the bulb but I didn't drain as much laying down as opposed to sitting up so it gave her a false reading. It happens and I believe that she would not have imagined that this would happen. I am just glad that I paid attention to my body.
I had my 310cc silicone implants removed 4 weeks ago and I couldn't be happier!!!
I felt so heavy and I think that I underwent lot of ache (back/ neck/ arms/ under the feet...) was because of them...
I'm wishing the best surgery and healing to you..
Are you going to use the same surgeon?
Keep us posted.
Hugs.
