Hi everyone!

So 11yrs ago I was a young flat chested 21 yr old who was very insecure and decided to get breast implants so I did I got 275cc silicone gel implants under the muscle and felt amazing afterwards and so excited to feel like a woman!

Fast forward years later with unexplainable pain and general unwell feeling I never even thought it could be the implants until I had a car accident 2 years ago and fractured my spine with my implants as airbags hitting the steering wheel at 80km hr and ever since then have felt awful!
I am a happy positive woman normally but honestly have struggled so much since my accident and finally realise it is the implants and so have decided to get them out!

Back when I was 21 and made the decision to have them in I was naive and had no idea what silicon even was! If I knew what I know now I would Never had them put in and would have tried to love myself regardless of my flat chest.

But I didn't know better and to be honest for 8yrs I was very happy with them and felt amazing in clothes but now can not wait to get them out and be free and natural again! :)

I have seen 4 different surgeons for advice and it is amazing how different everyone s opinions are for what I should get done regarding the explant.
One says just explant no drains another 2 day explant with complete capsulectomy and the last one says capsulectomy with internal lift!

I am meeting with my preferred surgeon so far again this Thursday just to ask him a few more questions etc :)
Any advice from anyone who has had an explant with capsulectomy would be appreciated!
I will keep updating :)

You have been through so much.. You will feel like a new woman after removing your implants & I'm confident your health will get better too. I had chronic illness which miraculously went away as soon as I took out implants. It's so great that you have seen multiple surgeons to get their opinions .. I wish I did that. And yes isn't it amazing how they all say different things?!! In some ways I wish I had a capsulectomy too as ive read a lot about it online (en bloc method I think it's called). Good luck on your journey & recovery x

Hi Jessie,
I am looking at explanting .... I have only had my implants for 3 months and I have not been the same since.... body pain, pins and needles, and so many other symptoms.....I believe it is from the implants but everyone is telling me its unlikely. can you please let me know which doctors you went to see. I am from Melbourne too. I am so lost at the moment.

Hi MY80
Only you know what is right or wrong for your body so if yo feel it's the implants causing you distress then you need to trust your instincts on it. Do you want to keep them? And are you happy with your implants otherwise? I was fine with mine for 8 yrs until I had a car accident and hit my chest against the steering wheel and since then have been very uncomfortable. Have yours been uncomfortable since you first had them in?

I am about to have my gel implant removal and capsulectomoy in about 4 weeks. I'm very apprehensive, but what ever the outcome, I need these implants out. Not looking forward to the physical results, but if I'm not happy maybe in 6-12 months, I could have a small breast lift, to get rid of the gravity drag. Maybe or I'll just get on with life.

Hi ladies, I am from the uk and had my implants and capsulectomy removed 4 days ago, I am 31 and had my implants put in when I was 19, unfortunately mine were the pip implants that have been on the news and were completely ruptured and had started to cause me bother - going hard and sore and if I bent over It would feel like 100 little bee stings in my chest, I have been very anxious about having these removed as I did not have the funds to have an uplift or even replacement. The surgery took 2 hours and my surgeon reports that the capsule was imbedded into my muscle so they had to cut the muscle in half. When I seen the implants I felt so relieved that they were out but also very angry at the makers of these pip implants, my implants were 390cc and I can honestly say I don't know we're they must of been in my body because the size of my breasts is not that much different now they are out from when they were in, the shape?! Well that's another issue I am hoping that the shape and appearance of my breast will change in time if not I will be saving up to have this corrected as it is not the best but I will not be having any implants put back in that's for certain. I stayed in hospital for 3 nights as my drains were slightly high (apparently had to drain less than 40mls in 24hrs to be discharged). My surgeon did say that if I did not need drains I would be out the same day but due to the capsule/muscle fiasco I needed them. I will be calling the hospital tomorrow as my right boob is making swishing sounds when I lie down as if there is a fluid build up. (Must add I have had 3 children and weight gain has been up and down over the years - adding to the appearance). If I had to make the decision again I would definitely have the implants removed my outlook on life is different now I have a family and my health is more important.
The best of luck xxxx

Jessie, given how young you are, you will probably heal well. My advice would be to get drains. It's always good to remove any fluid build up. Very important. Also, I would wait for the lift unless your nipples are below your mammary fold. That is how the surgeon judges whether a patient needs one or not. At 54 years old, my nipples were above my fold (I think because I didn't breast feed my children due to fears of them injesting silicone), so I did not have a lift. Anyway, I figured I could always do that later if I really wanted it done. I wanted every drop of silicone out of me, so I opted for a full capsulectomy. Get that stuff out of your body! Sorry if I sound bossy. I'm just passionate about this matter.
It's good you are seeing different surgeons. I'd go with the person who has done the MOST EXPLANTS WITHOUT REIMPLANTING.... they truly know what to expect.
Take care, Dove

Wonderful! Not the pain part of course. I am 13 days post and have only soreness at this point. I only took Tylenol because I don't like the side effects of narcotics. But do whatever makes you feel most comfortable especially for the first few days. Keep us posted! PM me any time with questions.
