After years of smoking, drinking tea and coffee and acquiring some unsightly yellow teeth, i'd been interested in getting them whitened.
Skeptical of the cheaper whitening packages offered on groupon and at beauty clinics, and after much research on realself.com I decided Zoom was the system I wished to try.
I was informed that my dentist was having a special with zoom whitening for $360 AUD, so after my yearly check up with Dr Ghamari I took the plunge and went for the zoom whitening.
As i'd had my teeth cleaned & polished the day prior to the procedure, once I was seated Dr Ghamari did a quick once over on my teeth, and as I had a few chipped teeth, she polished those first (as I would probably be too sensitive to file after); and then described what the procedure was to entail.
After sealing my gums with a protective layer (to prevent any burning from the whitening solution), she applied the whitening solution & proceeded to switch on the light which activated the hydrogen peroxide solution which was applied to my teeth.
I lost track of time but it didn't feel for very long, but towards the end I did start to feel the "zingers" (as i've read about countless times on other reviews), which were somewhat uncomfortable at the time but subsided and came in waves for the next few hours thereafter.
After Dr Ghamari was satisfied with the duration of time spent being whitened, she removed the solution, removed the gum sealant and treated my teeth with a fluoride solution (to abate the discomfort and sensitivity), I was handed the mirror and couldn't believe it! I was at a b1 shade and almost cried out of happiness.
Afterwards she explained the aftercare, to avoid staining foods etc, and I was on my way.
The zingers did continue for a short amount of time throughout the day, but honestly i've already forgotten that pain and was more worried about not eating any staining foods for the next 48 hours post procedure.
I have been using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth the last 3 months and I think it made a great difference to how much sensitivity I experienced, as well as once I got home & rubbed the toothpaste into my teeth it took a lot of the pain away.
It was absolutely worth every cent - and then some extra, just worried it might become addictive because i'm so happy with the end result!
