WORTH IT
Just before my 66th birthday I started looking at the options for making my face look more youthful.
I considered a mini lift, Ulthereapy, Botox and fillers, then I discovered Retin A on real self and then followed up with some youtube information. I ordered some 0.5 Retin A on line, the cost was most reasonable. Son on my birthday I started my Retin A program. My evening routine is cleansing my face, waiting until it is dry 15 mins or so, applying a pea size amount on my face, not on my lips eyes or sides of nose. After that I apply Weleeda skin food, this seems to be fine for me as I have hardly any side effects at all. In the morning I apply Vit C serum with vitamin E.
After just over a month, my skin feels firmer and smoother and I do believe my fine lines look better. So far Im more than happy. I did take some photos of before and up until now. I will continue to put up a photo so you can see the results. Hopefully my photographs will improve.

Hi Jenny. Why have you not used the retin A on lips or side of nose? I know from this site that others use retin A for lip lines so wonder why have decided not to. By the way you look great and much younger than your years. Keep posting on your results. I have lots of vertical lines on lips and forehead and trying to work out what treatment to get. Afraid of lasers etc . So interesting to see your results. I am same age as you

Hi many thanks for your comments. I have just started using a little on my lips, the results were in the corner of one side of the mouth has become red and sore, my nose I have just started, that had a bit of peeling, however not too bad. I can't believe how my skin texture has changed though, it is so much more even and feels really amazing. I will post some more pictures in a couple of weeks, so you can see the results of my lips and nose. I had seen on You Tube somewhere not to put at the sides of the nose or close to lips hence thats why I didn't use Retin A there. Im now up to everyday, so Ive ordered the 0.1.

Jenny, I haven't started using Retin A yet. I have a problem just with retinol. Anyway, I've done a lot of reading about Retin A and I'm concerned that since you just now got up to nightly use, it might be too soon to increase the percentage. I've heard of people using the. .05% for a year or more before increasing their dose. If you have a problem you might have to start over again. I burnt my face in spots so bad with retinol that it took over 3weeks to heal. Please be cautious. I've also read an article by a dermatologist and he said there was research indicating .05% to be the optimal level and that perhaps there was no benefit in increasing. Has anyone else heard this or read it? I wish I'd bookmarked the article so I could refer to it again. Good Luck! And you do look great!!! I'm 10 years younger and we look about the same age. I don't think I look great, but average for 55.

I've been using Retin A for at least 15 years and it's always been .05%. I heard the same thing. That there was no benefit to going higher. I swear by it. I'm 58, was a total sun worshiper, but get taken as mid-40's.

Hi vo5. How many times a week are you using .05%? Also what moisturisers are you using. I am hoping to start retin A this coming winter. Have had discussion with obagi beautician where I live, but there are about four or five creams to use daily, which I know I will find tiresome. Like you I have been a sun worshiper for ever and only started using factor 50 about 2-3 years ago. So pleased your results have been so positive.

Hi there.
Am butting in here as lm following Jennie88. The obagi nu derm system has retinol in it ( 0.5%) and after you have completed the system you go onto a maintenance programme that includes a brightener containing 1% retinol.....the nudem isnt tiring in winter...you get used to it.

I use it every night. The other product I swear by is Vivier KineC. As for moisturizers, I don't use anything special. I have mild rosacea so depending on if I'm flushing a lot or not I will either use Olay Daily moisturizer or Aveeno. The treatments of Retin A and Vitamin C are the important things. Any good moisturizer will do in my opinion. A lot are over priced for the same thing. In the last couple of years I have been using an LED lamp every night during the fall and winter too. In the warmer months it aggravates my rosacea flushing too much.

hi Jormana. Do you mean obagi has retin A 0.5% and not retinol? I always thought retinol is different to retin A, retin A being much stronger and more effective. I use retinol in environ system I use daily, and retinol is not as effective as retin A. Retinol much more gentle on skin and not as abrasive. Xxxx

I just took a look and with the nu derm system it has 0.5% ((tretinoin) in a tube plus the other products.
The maintenance system by Zo medical has Britenex which is 1% retinol, melanin inhibitors, vitamin C and antioxidants .
Prhaps its similar to the Environ products.
I definately peeled with Nu derm. [RS bleep]

Hi Jormana. I think it's the tretinoin that activates the peeling etc. I will definitely give the obagi nu derm a go this coming winter. Your results are great and everyone who appears to have used it seems very happy with results. I just hate the peeling and redness that goes with it! But the old adage of "no pain, no gain" springs to mind, so have to make the effort. Hope you are looking as wonderful as usual and all is well. [RS bleep]

Its a challange living in this heat.l seem to sweat off all the creams l'm using these days!
Alls fine except for the liplines...figuring out my next move to combat them. Do the nuderm in January..everyones got their head down then and the days are darker and shorter!!

Retin A is a must have. You just have to find the right dosage and frequency which works best for you. Never forget sunscreen. I think at 66 you should have a mini. You look great, but if you look daily and see hanging loose skin and it bothers you..what are you waiting for? :-)

Yes Im beginning to believe Retin A is a must have. Before I go for a mini lift I would really like to see results from Retin A, before using or doing anything else first. Im now using 0.5 daily my skin is improving greatly. So maybe time to go to 0.1 I think. Thanks so much for your comments.
Thanks for joining us and sharing your Retin-A journey. I do see an improvement in your skin already, congrats! Do you have much irritation such as dry, red, flaky skin?
