Chubby, Droopy Face. Cause - Weak Facial Bones! - Melbourne, AU

WORTH IT$32,000
I've always been fit and slim however my face has always looked the opposite due to weak facial bones.
I had a few consultations with the amazing Dr. Bryan Mendelson, we decided to strengthen the brow, cheek bones and jaw line with a miracle substance called hydroxyapatite (coral) which is a substance that is identical to human bone, its permanent and can be moulded to any shape.
Bryan placed 1ml on each temple to raise and strengthen my brow adding brightness to me eyes, 4.6mls on each cheekbone which gave me structure and balance to my face, this made me look symmetrical, masculine and totally lifted and balanced out the heaviness in my lower face. 2.2mls was also used on either side of my jaw, this added definition and gave me a strong jawline, I also received complimentary liposuction just under the jaw to enhance the effect of the hydroxyapatite.
The advantage with hydroxyapatite is that it can be moulded to your original bone structure so it doesn't change your look or make you look plastic like implants can, it just enhances your face, AND ITS PERMANENT! And to finish it off a slight lift of the soft tissue on the mid cheek area.
Small incisions were made in the hairline, under my eyelashes and just under the chin, these will all heal to be invisible.
I also received upper eyelid surgery which I have given an individual review for.
The results are amazing and very natural, I knew it was going to be good given how experienced and specialised Dr. Bryan Mendelson is on face shape but my high expectations were proceded, Bryan truly has an amazing eye for facial aesthetics.
The healing process was about two weeks, I did take a further two weeks off just to take it easy and allow the swelling to go down before returning to work. In terms of pain there was very little, I was only taking pain relief for 3 or 4 days after surgery and some light sleeping pills to help me sleep at night as I had to be in an elevated position.

I'm confused - are those really your post-surgery photos or have you accidentally tagged them as post-operative photos?
If so - can you please post photos of what you looked like after surgery?
Thanks.

March 29, 2015
Ive accidentally tagged them as post and for some reason the site wont let me correct it. Sorry about that Dominic

Thanks for your review! Do you mind if I ask how much it cost you for each procedure?

March 28, 2015
I can't really give you an accurate breakdown as all the procedures were heavily discounted as I had it down all at once and I was never quoted on individual procedure.

March 28, 2015
Thanks for the review. Are you able to post your before photos too?

March 28, 2015
Hey Ivan, these are the before photos. I'm currently 2 months post operation and I'm just waiting until the 6 month mark until I post the before photos.

March 29, 2015
*post the post op photos (so frustrating how this site doesn't let you correct mistakes!)

These are the before shots, not sure how they were labeled post surgery, I'll look into fixing that. Waiting for the six month mark before I reveal the final results.

Wow - you look GREAT!!!
It looks like the outer corners of your eyebrows are no longer curved down, but are somewhat straighter - making it look like your eyebrows extend longer - am I just seeing things, or is this the case?
Also have you suffered any complications - like numbness, muscle/motor nerve damage, ongoing pain, lower eyelid drooping?
A bit hard to tell as it's not a very close up photo - but were your cheeks lifted a lot higher than where they were before?
Really looking forward to seeing your future photos (hope you can add one 3/4 view - so we can see the cheek augmentation).
Thanks in advance.

Hey Dominic, I had coral paced on my temples, this would have extended and lifted the brow also on the cheekbone and jaw line, soft tissue on the mid cheek was also lifted giving a higher appearance. I didn't realy suffer much at all, I was on painkillers for only 3 days after the surgery, other than that just the usual numbness and stiffnes that's expected. Im 9 weeks post op now and everything feels very normal. The clinic will take proper photos at 4 months with all the right views, looking forward to sharing them. Thanks for commenting.

1.What exactly is coral made of? Plastic? Human bone?
2. Do you have to have screws fixed onto the coral(jaw area)to keep it in place?
3. Did you get to see what coral looks like, before surgery?
4. Did the doctor discuss anything about healthcare and safety to avoid infection ? Thanks for sharing, I have to have jaw surgery.

April 8, 2015
1 it's scientifically called hydroxyapatite and it has the same priorities as our bones, it actually bonds with our bones and lasts forever.
2 no screws, the coral is like a putty like substance that is placed on the bone by the surgeon and sets hard once mixed with blood. It can be moulded to any shape during surgery.
3 I didn't get to see what the coral looked like before surgery
4 I just had to take it easy for a month and sleep on my back until the coral set hard. No risk of infection as an antibiotic was mixed into the coral.

Thanks so much for sharing about hydroxyapatite.Never read/heard any surgeon mention of hydroxyapatite."No risk of infection", sounds better than silicone."It's been used for 15 years".Wonder why no other surgeons I've seen, have even mentioned of it.Thanks again.

I think it takes a highly skilled surgeon that specialise in the stuff. That's why its rare and not really heard of. It seems like a miracle to me.

Your looking good. And a lot younger too!
I'm really happy for you.
Was having the procedures scary?
What sort of ultrasound was used for the healing?

April 11, 2015
Thanks for the kind comments Ivana. I was pretty nervous knowing it was a 5 hour surgery, but knew I was in the best of hands. I guess I was also scared of what I'd look like and how I would feel after the surgery.
The ultrasound used to break down the swelling was administered through what sort of looked like a smooth metal hammer. I don't have much more information on it but it really did help with the swelling.

I think you look great !!I want to get this done. But I do not know if it's approved in the US.

Hi,
Any update? I am eagerly awaiting to see the results and healing progress.
This is such an interesting surgery you have undergone (who's ever had hydroxyapatite implants before?....hardly anyone) so it would be fascinating to see what it all looks like.

Hi Doninic,
The clinic will be taking photos in a few weeks to the fourth month mark, this will show the final results. Not a great difference from the last picture I posted. I guess the swelling has settled and everything looks more natural

4 month update
Hey guys,
Just thought id update you all on the progress. Im just shy of 4 months post op, face is almost completely back to normal except for a slight stiffness around the eyes. All scars are completely invisible and there is no evidence of ever having anything done accept for a slight dimple in the corner of my right eye were the was a dissolvable stitch, i guess its still slowly dissolving.

The biggest difference would be the amount of swelling that has decreased from the lower face and jawline.

WOW....you're looking awesome. Is it just me, or are your eyes slightly smaller since having surgery? (maybe it's just my imagination).
When you say stiffness around the eyes - do you think the cause is the surgery on your upper or lower lids? Is it causing any problems with blinking or spasms, or in any way obvious if someone was to look at your eyes that there is something wrong?
Also finally what do you mean by dimple in the corner of the eye? do you mean the skin is pulling down (like lower lid retraction) or something else - because I heard this particular surgery can cause the lower lids to pull down.

Why was there dissovable stitches near the eye? I'm lost, I thought it was jaw angle implants.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Do you happen to have "before" photos so we can compare? It is so helpful to see both before and after. :)
