I have been researching VSG for approximately four years. I nearly got it while living in Sydney but delayed it to move. Tried to get it two years ago but got knocked back as I didn't have Private Health insurance in a private hospital. All the planet have now aligned and I am seeing my surgeon one last time on the 31 Jan 2017. Surgery booked in for 13 Feb 2017 at Epworth Hospital in Box Hill, Melbourne. The procedure is costing $1,500 for anaesthetic and $4,500 out of pocket plus probably $400 excess on my health insurance.
Please note this is not the company doing my surgery but they don't have Australian doctors. Happy to answer questions

Thanks Sheila. Yes have told family and a few friends. Have heard a few negative comments like "that's cheating" "easy option" but I explain how much hard work it is post op.

Well done for committing to a life changing surgery. I bet you’re feeling great. Who ended up being your surgeon? I’m in Melbourne also and I have private health but stupidly mine doesn’t cover weight loss surgery - so I reckon I’ll be paying privately!

Getting more excited

aussieboy126

Not long to go now. Preop diet sucks but I've lost 5kg (11lbs) on the diet. Thought about it the other day and it's been well over 12 years since I've been under 100kg (220lbs). Still a little scared and a little excited about surgery.

Have told most people at work and they all have lots of questions. Going to post about the surgery on Facebook just prior to going into hospital so all my friends know.
