New Mismatched Crown and Veneer on Front Teeth - Maui, HI

Unnatural Veneer & Crown Shape

$3,100
So I posted an "ask a doctor" question on here and received answers that confirmed my feelings. The shape of this crown and veneer is wrong. They bow outward which not only looks unnatural but they also protrude beyond teeth #7 and #10. So basically I paid $3100 for a crown, veneer and gum contouring only to need all three redone after I move. Feeling depressed and disappointed. I regret getting any of it done while on Maui. My orthodontist wanted all the dental work done before scanning me for Invisalign retainers. But in hindsight I should have just had my retainer scan and handled the dental work later on after I moved, then get rescanned for new retainers. Ugh. Oh well what's done is done. I still feel my dentist did his best and he worked hard to get the color to match, I appreciate his efforts. I haven't reviewed my laser gum contouring experience yet so I'll do that next in a separate review post.

I am so sorry you have gone through all this dental work not to be thrilled. Keep trying, while this should not cost you any more money. If you have to move without a solution, I would ask for a refund of some of the money. Like 30% to find a dentist to correct. Do not give up, you are only 36, you've got a lot of living and smiling to do
The crown and veneer are too round, and set too far forward giving the appearance of a pebble-like structure, probably even annoying to the tongue. On proper smiling the gum is probably evident too. More tooth structure needs to be removed so that the teeth can be positioned much further back. This will have a threefold effect; it will immediately make the crowns much narrower, the teeth will not protrude and will feel like they are part of the natural 'arch' of the teeth when you rub your tongue around the outside surfaces and, above all, it will allow the ceramicist to construct much more natural-looking teeth. To get rid of the shortness of the teeth the gum-line will need to be raised, this giving you the effect of smiling with no gum showing that you crave. Can be done and depends to a large extent on the bite of your teeth. By no means a straight-forward case but in the hands of an experienced crown/bridge clinician it wouldn't be overly difficult. Unfortunately it might be costly but the results, rest assured, would be markedly improved. Hope that helps. Best wishes, Gordi58
Dentist do a great job in making you feel like they did the right thing when infact they totally just jacked your teeth up. New crowns/veneers by someone competent will make a huge difference. But again you run the risk of the dentist faking you out with their "honorable" charm.
You are a beautiful girl. Good luck to you.

Adjusting To New Veneer & Crown

Been feeling some anxiety about the width and rounded shape of my new veneer and crown on my front teeth. I understand they needed to be a certain width to fill the space but it still looks weird to me. My natural tooth and old crown were so much slimmer looking with straighter edges and they filled the same space just fine. I guess I didn't realize how bulky veneers actually are, I always had this vision of veneers being automatically "perfect" but that's simply not the case. I'm doing my best to adjust to them. I asked my orthodontist what he thought today and he agreed they look a bit wide but suggested I give it at least 6 months and maybe I'll end up liking them.

Natural Tooth Before Veneer

This pic is my natural right front tooth before getting the veneer. The left front tooth is a 15 year old crown.
